I still think Banjo over Chief was one of the most comically bad roster decisions in Smash history, possibly the most comically bad.
I actually really like the idea of Splaat (Klasky Csupo logo) in NASB - he's a memorable character to 90s and 2000s-era Nicktoon fans, and he's managed to gain an inexplacable but quite clever cult following with the current day Nickelodeon kid audience. I feel his moveset could, just as Hugh seems to play into his memes, play into the Klasky Csupo memes by giving him wacky logo effects to fight with.
Another NASB character idea I like is Swiper, a good way to rep Nick Jr. without turning a preschool role model into a combatant, given he's a villain and all - he could still have the fake interactivity represented, and I feel his inclusion would probably appeal to Nick's core demo more than Dora herself because: let's face it, 6-to-12 year old kids love making fun of "baby shows", and one of the quintessential outlets for that is cheering on the antagonistic character. Mayor Humdinger (is that his name?) could also work for this to a lesser extent, but he wouldn't really appeal to NASB's nostalgic core demo like Swiper would.

If the #KiddySweep occurs on SMSB, I'll probably be a bit miffed I went straight for the 120 stage round-up since we wouldn't be able to give him a DKC3 stage - that being said, I feel Kongo Falls makes a decent enough makeshift Kiddy stage. Maybe I'll do a discussion round on a slight Kremisphere retheming should Kiddy win.
I haven't calculated the results yet so I have no clue whether we're getting a #KiddySweep; #BallyhooSweep; #PianoSweep; or whatever, but I do plan to calculate in a few hours as I'm going out tomorrow.

TBH, in the context of Smash I don't really care about getting my favourite characters and series in anymore - what I really want currently is Sony; Atari; homegrown Microsoft; and 80s microcomputer rep, with no specific characters in mind (even if I obviously have preferance to PaRappa in Sony's case) which are things I only have passing interest in (none in the case of Xbox if you exclude Windows) but feel are crucial steps in becoming a real gaming museum.
I unironically admire how the lost media community could be looking for extremely significant milestones from the early days of TV or highly influential literature, but instead choose to look for tie-in flash games to mediocre 2000s Canadian cartoons and stuff like that. This isn't even sarcasm, I really appreciate how these guys are using their talents to find things important and significant to them and their own niche little bubble rather than the world at large.
I kinda feel modern Smash games' takes on third parties aren't made with longevity in mind - Minecraft is a good example, having all the biomes in fun as DLC, but it's gonna really slim down the options if they ever want a second Minecraft stage (though I will admit that a mine or the Nether would probably be the first choice even with the other biomes on the table.)
I've been going down the rabbit hole of Japanese "westaboo" Twitter, and honestly "VeggieTales is the Bible version of Pop Team Epic" is not a sentence I ever expected to read. Probably mistranslated but still.
I don't get why, of all the cancelled games, EarthBound 64 is the one people are so interested in and are willing to spend hundreds of dollars to research. Just comes off to me as an uglier and darker version of a released game that basically had the perfect level of dark for the story it wanted to tell - not to mention that the Mother franchise's history wouldn't really be changed by it in the slightest, the fandom probably but not the series as a whole considering it'd end with M3 either way. To me something like Swordquest Airworld; Twelve Tales Conker 64; or Sonic X-Treme is more interesting for that sort of butterfly effect "how would this series, its developer, or gaming as a whole have changed if this released?" theorising.
It's kinda weird that we don't really talk about the Emoji Movie anymore, even in emoji-specific discussions, considering that for a few brief months it was the only thing on anybody's lips.
One thing I'm seeing a lot with the NASB "Smash killer" BS and "dead game" aftermath is YouTubers saying "oh, my thumbnail maker did it" and like... OK, I kinda get that, but 1. why do you need a specialised thumbnail editor when most of these thumbnails could be done on Kapwing in 20 seconds? and 2. how do you have so little communication with any member of your team that they actively promote mentalities you are against on your channel with your face?

I don't get why Smash fans, despite their obsession with source accuracy, never complain about Smash entirely retconning the ROB lore.
It annoys me when people who prefer easier; casual; or more variety-based games just refer to those qualities as "fun" as if the alternatives inherently aren't
I see it a lot with Smash fans talking about NASB and Crash 3/WoC fans talking about Crash 4 specifically.
jokes aside, they did a way better job of making the car fit in the Cuphead universe than other real car-and-cartoon style character promos... but that isn't saying much.
I feel the best solution for Sonic now that there's such a fractured fandom over what tone it should take is to go back to the sort of "AoStH and SatAM" dynamic - release a 2D or boost game with a light tone one year, release an edgier Adventure or open world game that takes itself seriously the next, and then just alternate rather than sticking to "eras"
If Multiversus caves into the memes and adds Walter White, I feel the best route for his moveset would be to base it on the ironic memes specifically, like the "human face magnet" as a down smash (I don't know the MVS terminology LMAO) for example - passing off his cooking as generic chemistry to pass the ESRB feels like a "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" to me (especially given that he may as well just be Dexter at that point, and retro CN reps seem to be in really high demand from the outside looking in,)

If I was designing a Smash story mode, I think what I'd do is:
- Worlds from the games, almost all stages' models would be reused to make multiplayer stages, and all the others would be reused from veteran stages. Only grassy plains stage is world 1: Green Hill Zone
- Music, however, is original - not remixes - though they may sample motifs from the source. Those songs are considered part of that series' songlist despite being original
- Extremely lighthearted and borderline non-existant story, probably just "hands bad, stop them"
- Bosses are all nightmarish "Giga" equivalents of playable fighters. These are not playable in any form (at least at launch), but are primarily original and reuse all their animations and moves so no major loss there.
- Gameplay leans more "fighter" than "platform". Plays a lot like a beat em up with absolutely no precision platforming and pits serving more as a hazard for enemies to throw you into, and you'll often be stopped in place to fight a hoard of enemies.
- Even weaker enemies can tank a lot of hits. You can't just stomp on a Goomba or throw a Koopa shell to deal with an enemy, they're resillient regardless of source material.
- 8 player co op, as many characters as you've unlocked can be played as.
- Items spawn in gameplay, but only a select few. Poké Balls and Assist Trophies are not among that selection.
- Each character has a unique ending, though it's really just a 4th victory animation better suited for the context of saving the world(s) instead of some wish-granted scenario.
- No leveling system, but Smash Run upgrades are back - albeit reseting after every stage clear
- Some stages revolve around racing instead of fighting
I don't get why people dislike gross-out being one of Wario's defining character traits - personally it's the main reason I enjoy him. Any other game can let you play as a macho treasure hunter, only Wario games let you play as a lazy, repugnant slob.
I feel Yoshi is kind of a weird series in the realm of Smash because, wheras other series suffer from one or two early games being given priority over later releases, Yoshi suffers from his representation being too diverse and as a result Yoshi's Island - which is often considered the best Yoshi game by quite a landslide, and to many people may as well be the only Yoshi game - not getting as much content as the likes of Story or Woolly World.
Same goes for Sonic I'd argue, but at least the modern games do have a large fandom within the Sonic fanbase even if not the general public.
This commercial features the protagonist of Soccer Kid (AKA Kid Kleets), an Amiga game, which therefore makes it a better celebration of gaming history than Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
I actually really appreciate the new Kirby game being a rather blatant Fall Guys clone, IMO Nintendo's constant pursuit of originality has often held their game libraries back.

I love how in the Smash Infinite universe, one of the fighters in Smash is an insane suburban man who wears a pot on his head while fighting zombies from a game made by a company that used to be called "Sexy Action Cool"
