I think the reason Poké Floats and Rainbow Cruise don't get the hate Pac-Land and Mushroomy Kingdom do - despite being way more chaotic - is because they were in Melee which had infinitely better movement than anything after even without wavedashing/dashdancing/etc. I imagine that Pac-Land with Melee physics would be extremely fun.

Icicle Mountain though? Yeah, that one's just a stinker. Same goes for Space Madness in NASB.

I like the idea of a future Smash starting you off with just all the Mario and/or Pokémon characters and stages and then you have to unlock entire series in batch - not sure how it'd work for single-character series though.

I honestly don't know why people think Multiversus will "kill NASB" - maybe to a casual audience who only care about "Smash but cartoons", but the competitive audience will see NASB as "fast/anime platform fighter" and Multiversus as "team platform fighter" - two extremely different niches.

I feel that if Crash got in Smash, he should probably have a decent amount of CTR-related spirits and music, and possibly even an item or move related to it, but I'm not 100% sure Nintendo would want to promote Mario Kart's biggest competitor.

Hot take: I think being a meme is a point for a potential Smash fighter, not against. Humour, no matter how depraved or niche it may be, is an emotion - and a valuable one at that - thus characters that have brought you that emotion should be held near and dear to you. Memories of laughing at memes, reviews, and Poops of Morshu and Bubsy are no different from memories of feeling fear as you fight against Ridley or Porky in their source material, or memories of being enamoured by your first introduction to the cool attitude of Geno or Joker. It's a perfectly valid reason to like a character that shouldn't be disregarded as "irony" or coated in sarcastic self-loathing.

I feel people don't give Wii Fit Trainer enough credit for opening the door to non-game technology characters in Smash. Clippy, Miku, Wikipe-Tan, Jeeves so on - a great untapped mine for future Smash games if they continue emphasising third party content

I'm not even one to feel animosty towards a fictional villain, let alone a mildly annoying side character, but the American-accented French flea from the Tom & Jerry movie where they talk makes me really angry for some reason - there's just something about that face... It might be a weird meta thing, he doesn't do anything bad in-universe but out-universe he and his dog friend actively make the movie substantially less entertaining by encouraging Tom & Jerry to be friends who can talk, therefore having a much more negative effect on the real world than any movie villain - but I don't mind the dog because he's Literally Dribble WarioWare.

I feel Nintendo's attempts to avoid another... thing... like the Super Show or DKC cartoon have actually helped proliferate said projects' popularity and awareness. the Mario cartoon trilogy has had a long syndication history similar to those of Looney Tunes and The Flintstones thanks to there being no other official alternative Mario cartoons to air or watch, and here in the UK Captain N was reran way into the Wii era.

The only instance of Smash compositing together different unrelated retro series/games into a single piece of content I'd have no issues with is if Dream Land GB turned out to be a composite stage like was teased - and that's solely because Smash was and still is awfully low on Game Boy content. It's why I don't like the idea of 9-Volt in Smash, why sneak in Virtual Boy rep through another series when you could just add a Teleroboxer fighter or let the VB walk with it's lanky legs? Why relegate Nintendo's pre-gaming toys to just "WarioWare weirdness" when you could put in a president or miniature marsupial to treat the whole library with respect?

Hedgehogs are rodents
Whistling is equally as impressive as becoming a super hero and gaining sapience
Bubsy is not a bobcat but rather an overgrown housecat posing as a bobcat
Being able to hangglide is somehow more impressive than natural gliding abilities
Donkey Kong is a robot
Sonic can't skateboard
All games that are not Pac-Man 2 cease to be "adventures" after a first playthrough
Pac-Man is the only video game character ever to not use a stunt double
Pac-Man is comparable to the cast of Mortal Kombat
The cast of Mortal Kombat would be inable to use their powers to fight crime

I do not, however, like the TV advert for Pac-Man 2, because it is very ableist.

While modern Nickelodeon is often mocked by cartoon fans (and with good reason) one thing I think they do better than their rivals when it comes to animation is allowing a wider age range in their protagonists - they're not afraid that a cloud working a 9-to-5 job or a group of dumb babies will put off their 6-to-12 demographic.

While I really appreciate the sentiment of the recent-ish push to portray coding in kids' shows and movies, I also find that the way game development and coding are portrayed in them (specifically the advanced and professional nature of the ficticious games) makes it look both way more intimidating and way more easy than it actually is at the same time - and thus is kinda counter-intuitive. The game LeBron's son makes in Space Jam 2 and the entirety of Game Shakers come to mind.

I personally prefer multiplayer games to be one of two extremes: super deep with a lot of hidden depth and techniques, or an 80s arcade-style button masher where the only thing that seperates the good from the bad is reflexes. Something inbetween (Mario Kart 8 for example, where it's possible to improve but hitting the skill ceiling is just an extension of learning the controls) doesn't work for me.

The whole deal with Jimmy and Timmy in NASB is weird because, unlike Geno; Porky; and other conspiracy characters in Ultimate, I can totally understand why people felt they were owed their inclusion in base - even ignoring the prescendent set by the Nicktoons Unite games they are two of Nick's most iconic and beloved characters - but at the same time, NASB never promised or even implied it'd have the Power Hour duo and acting like you were scammed by the game because of their absence is unreasonable, especially when cartoon crossover tie ins both by Nick and other studios have a long history of strange snubs with both Jimmy and Timmy being heavy victims of this, Timmy even being getting snubbed from the Unite series itself for Globs of Doom.

If I were to do a guest job in SMSB (which I won't - at least not for a base game, but even for DLC it's highly unlikely) they'd probably be an indie character inspired by a Mario game. (so Bug Fables, Pizza Tower, Kaze and the Wild Maks, so on) No Rareware or returning from Smash stuff.

I feel Nintendo are really good at making single player games, but kinda crap at multiplayer. Might just be that I like to play online and vs. CPU for hours on end and don't have the big gatherings Ninty's games are designed for so I gravitate towards more complex alternatives like CTR and NASB.

Saying "linearity/a lack of freedom makes Crash Bandicoot bad" is like saying "gore makes Mortal Kombat bad" - it signifies a complete lack of understanding for the series' very foundation and appeal. Not liking linearity doesn't mean Crash is bad, it just means you aren't in the target audience.
