I think the case is different for unedited/original songs however - if we're to assume the universes of these threads already had the remixes made and we're just licensing them out having super-long remixes would also be justifiable IMO.

In all seriousness, though, I do see where you're coming from. Especially with creation threads which focus on faster-paced games; What's the point in having a very long song when you'd only hear the first 2-3 minutes of it anyway?
(i'll take full accountability here and say that i have submitted an 11-minute video once, but that was because the 2-3 minute remix got looped a couple of times in said video)

this may be targeted at my submission for the athletic series medley, and i will say that i've never really considered that too much
but i always figured that since the time limit for competitive matches is usually 7-8 minutes the songs shouldn't usually surpass that

Yeah, it is honestly - I don't really have a problem with the medley's length alone, moreso how long it lingers on Slider. That being said, if it wins, it wins.
