I don't do "meme picks". When I say I want Who Are You Running From?/Wii Silicone Jacket/Bubsy/Trubbish/Clippy/whoever in Smash, I mean it. I might find "fat hockey player" funny, but if I don't see legitimate moveset and playstyle potential there I'm not going to rally behind fat hockey player like I would Jacket and Running From.

I feel that Fosters in Multiversus is the definitive example of a franchise where the MC should be passed over in favour of a side character. I can't really see Mac and Bloo being half as interesting as Wilt, Eduardo or even Cheese.

I love how, in contrast to Smash's roster of mostly legendary warriors with a few more down-to-earth folk thrown in, NASB has a few godlike reincarnations and atomic kaiju sprinkled among a cast of mostly underpaid fry cooks and 10-year-olds with daddy issues.

Generally, when I make fighting game rosters or decide which characters I want to rally behind for them, I look for unique body shapes rather than unique powers - with Smash characters I think about air attacks and smash attacks long before special moves for example.

I've always found the merchandising of Friends weird - like, nobody would wear a hoodie that just says "Seinfeld" or "Home Improvement", they'd wear something actual imagery; quotes; or characters from the show, but Friends has turned its logo into a weird fashion movement completely detached from the source material.

I adore how the Yoshi colours are handled in Yoshi's Island - you can't select which Yoshi colour to play, but each stage has a Yoshi colour assigned to it because the Yoshies are swapping out duties. It's such a cute detail for worldbuilding by making it so the game's story is a team effort rather than just whichever Yoshi colour you choose on their own, and because of that I think I actually prefer it over the Yoshi-selecting feature added in Woolly World.

Speaking of DKC, I'm surprised nobody has ever tried to mod DK into DKC2 or Dixie into DKC - I understand that it's way more complex than just copy and pasting over some graphics and code, but still feels like one of the first things people would've tried to do upon the development of SNES ROM tools given the popularity of stuff like Knuckles in Sonic 1 and flying Tails in Sonic 2 mods.
