  • When you start a job at Google, you get a colourful propeller hat that reads "Noogler"

I've read that Google employees aren't forced to wear Noogler hats, and I'm not sure if that makes it better (Google aren't forcing people to embarass themselves) or worse (people are embarassing themselves by choice.)
The single worst game design decision in Smash history - possibly Nintendo history as a whole - is the rightmost cloud on Super Happy Tree. Why is it there, and why did they keep it when they brought back the stage in SSBU? At best it encourages camping! Shame too, one of the most aesthetically pleasing stages in the series.

    This is Randall slander!

Besides, most players don't play with hazards on.
Since fake Mario spin-off rosters are always on the mind for me, I decided to make a roster for the cancelled Mario Spikers game - albeit an extremely conservative roster that exclusively uses charactsrs who I feel are fit for wrestling, regardless of popularity or marketability.

I like how, intentionally or not, the 4 Mario universe platforming protags appeal to different stages of life.
    • Yoshi is cute and lives in a crayon world with usually easy platforming, perfect for kids who just barely count in the "3+" age range
    • Mario is a standard all-around hero in standard all-around games, the sort of character you idolise when you're only just about to break out of the single-digits
    • Wario is lazy, gross, and greedy. He fights a mix of nightmare inducing creatures and wimpy freaks in really unconventional game styles, very resonant with a teen demographic trying to break the rules and slowly understanding complex morality beyond just "good and bad".
    • Donkey Kong is just a chill dude who loves family, friends, and food. His games are hard and tend to be a bit on the artistic side in terms of soundtrack and levels. Not mature or edgy, but there's a slight pinch of adult sensibility to him.
Regular Waddle Dee >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bandanna Waddle Dee.
    That seems a little counter-intuitive

I have a love-hate relationship these best/worst TV show wikis, most of the points they make are utterly terrible and sometimes the qualities they mention are the exact opposite of how they're framing them - it's basically TVTropes Mr. Enter style - but it's kinda addictive, like a car crash you can't look back from, and they occasionally, very rarely, make decent points.
As a kid I always thought the stick figure portion of the Tom & Jerry Tales intro were supposed to be blueprints, since the designs from it were used in a blueprint map screen in the Tom & Jerry Tales DS game - however, as I grew older I eventually started to think the DS game influenced me to see them as blueprints and they moreso intended as a reference to storyboards with an aesthetically pleasing dark blue as opposed to the blinding white usually found on paper

Now my 6 year old self is finally validated, as I have learned that that scene was intended as a tribute to a blueprint-themed original Tom & Jerry short. That was an absolute rollercoaster of a 5-minute Google, let me tell you.
I really hope Nintendo don't shift their focus to open world games from now on. I may just not buy Nintendo's next console if they're gonna abandon linearity like they abandonded 2D for the N64 and Cube.
    Jondolio
    Jondolio
To be fair, Pokémon's been stuck with linearity for a long time even though Gen 1 was ironically not. I don't think they should abandon linearity altogether, but Pokémon in particular could really benefit from doing that.
Here's some highlight pun stage names from my planned game
    • Sun Nova Beach
    • Saint Entso Baptist Church
    • Under FUNstruction
    • In Hot Fursuit
    • It's Hip to Chuck Trees
    • Pitfall Hurry
    • Slippery Slope Facility
For a while I've had this idea of a Kuru Kuru Kururin stage that would just be FD but with a slight bump in the middle, a noplat as distinct from FD as Dream Land is from Battlefield - but the thing is, I think I've found a more interesting aesthetic design.
doing another point game, this time for that Nintendo compilation I mentioned in my previous post. 55 instead of 45 this time.

It's kinda disturbing how normalised the R-word is in the SMG4 and SuperMarioLogan fan circles - like I've watched a few reviews and drama recaps for these channels and they frequently use it casually as a synonym for "wacky" or "idiotic" without even acting like it's some edgy counter-cultural thing, let alone a repugnant slur.

It's kinda sad more so since even SMG4 himself and his brother have gone out of their way to say in recent videos where they rewatch their old works that those kinds of words wouldn't fly nowadays and have stopped using them in any of their recent videos from 2019 and beyond.

Wish the rest of his community could understand so.

    Good on them.
So, is that cancelled Courage PS1 game that's supposedly been found real? I really doubt it, but still.
Netflix's shuffle option would be great for Paramount+, HBOMax, and (to a lesser extent) Disney+ given they have a lot of cartoons that were designed to be watched out of order.

I don't get why calling Kazuya a "shoto" in the context of Smash is bad but the term "deconfirmed" isn't.
    Champion of Hyrule
    Champion of Hyrule
When people say “deconfirmed” it’s because they don’t know a better word exists and they don’t know why it’s better.
When people say “shoto” they’re literally just using a word wrong when they know there’s an alternative (fighting game character)

Also alot of fighting game fans can feel kind of disrespected when their terms are simplified, and it adds to the already pretty big rift between traditional fighting game fans and smash fans which for some reason has to exist. The word “disconfirmed” on the other hand, yeah it’a maybe a little annoying when people don’t use it but really doesn’t matter at all when people don’t use the term. The two terms have very different meaning so I really don’t think they’re comparable in this situation.

This video may help on fighting game archetypes, Shotos are just a term meaning balanced all around characters like Ryu or Mario that tend to be good beginner options.

Sonic the Fighters unironically has one of the best explanations for why heroic characters are beating each other up in any fighting game spin-off ever. (Eggman has a new plan, Tails built a one-passenger ship, the fighting tournament is to determine who's the strongest and therefore most fit to take on Eggman.)
