Generally, when I make fighting game rosters or decide which characters I want to rally behind for them, I look for unique body shapes rather than unique powers - with Smash characters I think about air attacks and smash attacks long before special moves for example.

I've always found the merchandising of Friends weird - like, nobody would wear a hoodie that just says "Seinfeld" or "Home Improvement", they'd wear something actual imagery; quotes; or characters from the show, but Friends has turned its logo into a weird fashion movement completely detached from the source material.

I adore how the Yoshi colours are handled in Yoshi's Island - you can't select which Yoshi colour to play, but each stage has a Yoshi colour assigned to it because the Yoshies are swapping out duties. It's such a cute detail for worldbuilding by making it so the game's story is a team effort rather than just whichever Yoshi colour you choose on their own, and because of that I think I actually prefer it over the Yoshi-selecting feature added in Woolly World.

Speaking of DKC, I'm surprised nobody has ever tried to mod DK into DKC2 or Dixie into DKC - I understand that it's way more complex than just copy and pasting over some graphics and code, but still feels like one of the first things people would've tried to do upon the development of SNES ROM tools given the popularity of stuff like Knuckles in Sonic 1 and flying Tails in Sonic 2 mods.

One game I hope never ever gets a remake is Donkey Kong Country. It is absolutely a flawed game that could do with some tinkering, but a game that's aesthetics have aged this well for its circumstances (pre-Toy Story 3D game on a palette-based 2D console) should be appreciated for what it is, not outdone. Same goes for DKC2 and to a lesser extent 3.

Outside of datamines, the NASB leak meta is almost entirely "find a licensed Nickelodeon game too obscure to have gotten a proper OST upload on YouTube, rip a single song, call it a leak".

Indie games can leak, especially when it's a collab with a corporation, it's happened many times before - but you can't really build a Smash-sized leak speculation scene out of one.

The way tilts and smashes work in Smash are such a weird remnant - it was a control scheme designed for the N64 controller with its giant analogue joystick, but doesn't really adapt well to any non-phallic controller.

It's kinda surprising there aren't any travelling stages in NASB given how many of the Smash stage archetypes that usually don't appear in other platform fighters made it in. (There's a surprisingly large amount of big stages, and even a scrolling stage)

I feel I was a little too controlling on the first version of the cartoon Smash, (though I still stand by adding anime as being a bad idea) and generally had a hard time keeping up with my own thread. If I was to do a new creation thread it'd have to be something I'm super passionate about, but also isn't extremely niche.
