The thing about VA in NASB is that it should absolutely be there and its exclusion is a valid concern, but a lot of people are also irrationally treating it as a dealbreaker or basing their entire opinion of the game or other games around it.

I just watched the animated Disney Alice in Wonderland and I don't know if anything was lost in adaptation or such, but is this really the story literary historians have been trying to find meaning in for centuries? Great film, but didn't strike me as anything deeper than "look at all these kooky concepts we made up!"

So Activision aren't actually revealing anything at TGA? So why do people want to boycott? Because they... will acknowledge Activision games are good? That's stupid.
I think the "samey movesets" complaint of Nick Brawl is less a case of bad/lazy/inexperienced game design or even the lack of funding as much as it is a conflict of interest - people are going in expecting Namco-era Smash moveset design, heavily focused on surprising gimmicks and special move abilities never before seen, but NASB is more aiming for HAL-era Smash moveset design where attributes, stats, range, e.t.c are characters' main defining factors.
Not helping matters is that NASB doesn't have tripping, burial, freezing, e.t.c. (in fact next to no platfighters other than Smash do) and prefers to inject its Nicktoon wackiness through more subtle ways like RPS, projectile mechanics, and the breakneck speed/air dash.
Nick is not designed to be a solely competitive game, but it's also a game that seeks not to isolate competitive or otherwise devoted players - and there's absolutely things casual players love in Smash but competitive players loathe, which probably aren't gonna make it into Nick (or any platfighter really) as a result.
There was a problem fetching the tweetI have to admit, if I made Smash I would totally do a bunch of absurd brand deals - not for the money, not for the art, but for the memes.
I really like the idea of making earlier, smaller games part of a later, bigger game. JetPac in DK64 and Club Sega in Yakuza are good examples. Though, I don't like it if those bigger games are the only legal ways of accessing the earlier games on modern hardware.

If Costume Mario was removed from SMM2 for multiplayer, I don't see why they couldn't have changed it from a power up to a skin system - guess they'd have to cut down the costume list for the super form, but still.
