I think Nick Brawl's devs had their priorities right with their deadlines quality-wise, (focusing on solid gameplay mechanics and movesets) but marketing-wise having a game themed on wacky kids' TV shows with no items or bonus modes is a little questionable. I hope items come by in an update at some point, hopefully including the Buhdeuce item that would've done nothing but scream.

I adore how Ludosity chose to make the Garfield lasagna kingdom with flying pizzas one of the competitive legal stages in Nick Brawl. That theming choice alone makes up for the ceilings on Ghost Zone and Sewer Slam being inaccessible on ranked mode.

If there was to be a "coding" themed Smash fighter, I think Kung Fu Man from MUGEN would be a good fit for it - have him be this bare bones shoto, no inputs, and give him a meter gimmick where he can increase or decrease variables for certain stats on the fly.

Not likely, given Elecbyte is dead and Nintendo may not want to promote MUGEN - which could be argued to be Smash's biggest rival, heh.

While I am glad Nick Brawl went the crossover route, I think an exclusively SpongeBob platfighter would've worked well too - at least if they were willing to delve into the one-offs and quick say-a-joke-and-go characters.

I wish Namco would do more with the sort of 80s arcade shared universe they've established. The Pac-Man universe on it's own is relatively uninteresting, but once you start compositing Galaga, Dig Dug, Mappy, Valkyrie, e.t.c. into it you've got an extremely fascinating world that becomes coherent through the lack of depth its source materials provide on their own.

Yes, I know almost all of these series do have deeper lore that'd be harder to composite in, but I more mean taking from a face value going-off-of-the-game-alone basis.

If there's one game I wish wasn't a licensed game, it's McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure. Such a gem but so hard to recommend and so unlikely to be rereleased/remade. I wonder if Sega could just strip it of Ronald and co. and just call it "Clown Treasure Land Adventure" or something like that? Probably not.

The melodramatic tone of Smash Ultimate (Lifelight specifically) is such an odditiy because it feels like something literally everyone and their grandma would've made fun of at some point, but barely anybody acknowledges it.

In Nick Brawl, the shows where a side character gets in before the protag always has that protag absent from stage cameos. I don't know why that is, I guess it could either be "we're saving Arnold, the babies, & Eliza for possible DLC consideration" or "people would be distracted if they saw Arnold, the babies, or Eliza in a stage's background" - or even just some wild coincidence.
