The list of sponsored players in Smash just keeps growing. Remzi "VaBengal" Zayid has just been signed by Momentum Gaming! Now under the tag mMm | VaBengal, this software engineer and power ranked Zero Suit Samus main will be an excellent addition to the team. "The next step in my Smash journey begins!" he said on Twitter and he will be representing the team for the very first time at Xanadu tonight. Take a look at his skills and be sure to congratulate him on his new signing over on Twitter!

Ice Climbers extraordinaire ChuDat is a player that has remained a strong force for a very long time. He became one of the best Melee players in the world in the game's early years and nearly singlehandedly developed the Ice Climbers metagame. He still is a force to be reckoned with in 2015, as demonstrated by his incredible run at EVO 2015 that netted him a top 8 placing. ChuDat is also became known for being a top Kirby player in Brawl and Project M.

After departing with Mortality eSports earlier this year, ChuDat was left without a sponsor, preventing him from traveling to tournaments as frequently as before.


Now, ChuDat has joined ROOT Gaming! ROOT Gaming are known for their presence in eSports such as Starcraft 2, Dota 2, and Hearthstone. Both ROOT Gaming and ChuDat are excited for what this sponsorship...

The Big House 5 is one for the history books. Bolstering record attendance and a slew of events the event had set the stage for an amazing weekend of Super Smash Bros. With multiple top streamers, support from a variety of organizations and a grassroots compendium, and top tournament organizer talent all that was needed to deliver the perfect event was there: And it delivered. In April 2015, Shiny Quaqsire originally shook the fanbase when discovered, at that time, unused audio files for Ryu, Roy and Lucas as well as stage music for Dreamland 64. Shortly after making the audio discoveries, Shiny Quaqsire found unused database entries for both characters and stages in the 3DS version.

On October 3rd Smash Bros. players from across the globe will travel to Dearborn, Michigan for one of the biggest events in the history of the scene. Registration is closed; and all-in-all the numbers don't lie. Over 2,000 attendees have registered for the event. With Melee clocking in at whopping 1,300+ entrants in singles and 500+ for the corresponding Wii U singles. To help put that in perspective: those numbers make this event the second largest Melee tournament of all time (only trailing EVO 2015) and as one of the five largest Wii U turnouts so far in the game's young lifespan. In a scene making a successful transition into the eSports realm, TBH5 took a rigorous grassroots approach to build the event up from the ground up.

A new update has launched for both the Wii U and 3DS versions of Smash Bros! Both versions received two additional stages, and the next wave of Mii Fighter costumes. Below is a list that was originally posted by Nantendo on Source Gaming. Check out the full Smashboards patch note thread here!

Club Nintendo is essentially ending in less than 24 hours. Players in Europe, Australia or Japan must turn their points or stars by the end of the day or risk losing them forever.

Club Nintendo launched in October 2003, originally Japan only; has rewarded loyal fans of Nintendo with exclusive goods. Stars and points were collected by purchasing games or consoles and registering them with Nintendo. Surveys could also be filled out for some additional points. Merchandise such as posters, calendars, shirts and even games have been released through Club Nintendo over the years.

The rewards program is set to be replaced by a new cross platform system created in partnership with DeNa sometime in the future.

Team Liquid has announced that Daniel "KoreanDJ" Jung has decided to leave the team and retire from competitive Smash due to injuries. In the official announcement Victor "Nazgul" Goosens had only positive praise for KDJ and sadness that he would be leaving the team. "I have gotten to know him as a kind and smart guy, and what I have admired most about him is his insatiable drive and dedication to become good at what he loves. We bid farewell to a great friend and one of the most admired stories in Smash history, and he leaves behind a legacy that can be rivaled by so very few."

Just over a month ago, the return of the legendary Genesis tournament series was announced. Not much was known about the tournament except for that it would be a major international tournament in Northern California during the Winter of 2016, and that it would hold the The Melee Games finals.

Now, some new details have been revealed! Genesis 3 will take place from January 15th-17th, 2016 at the San Jose Convention Center. The San Jose Convention Center is 3.9 miles away from the local airport, and offers over 100,000 square feet of space.

The newly released game, Super Mario Maker, will be coming to Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U as a DLC stage! This new DLC stage was revealed spontaneously on Nintendo's YouTube channel at 6:00 PM PDT.

Rankings Basics: We are aware that there is occasionally some confusion on how exactly are rankings are calculated, and what their purpose is. This section serves to alleviate that! Our rankings system works by allotting a certain number of points to events. We do this by placing them into categories (more on that in a bit), and players will get a certain amount of points based upon their ranking in the event. We calculate the player’s average of their top 10 events in a 12 month period, and that results in their rank. Please note that this value is...

The Events system on Smashboards has received an overhaul tonight! Much of the functionality you're familiar with is still here, but in a much easier to use way, both for event organizers and people in attendance.


You can still find Monthly and Weekly views of upcoming events by visiting the Events section. One of the new features however, is you can visit the Events Settings page and choose to filter the events by game, and also by their location relative to you.

When submitting an event, you will find a lot of similar fields to fill out such as the Title, Description and venue. You will also now find a field specifically for an address to use for a Google Maps display, as well as for the distance based filtering system. The specific address is not required, and can be left blank if you so choose and will...

For years, Nebulous Games has provided a venue that has brought the New York City Smash community together like never before. Beforehand, the NYC community was in disarray - NYC Smashers were scattered all across the area, with no unified meeting point for them to come together and play Smash. But with the help of some of the area's Smashers they found a great venue for NYC - Nebulous.

A new eSports team has formed! Created by former Smashers Alan "SamuraiPanda" Bunney and David "Mashumaro" Wu, Panda Gaming is not only a Fighting Game team, but also an eSports agency. SamuraiPanda and Mashumaro are two best friends who used to be top players in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as well as MOBAs such as League of Legends. SamuraiPanda is also a moderator here on Smashboards.

Rivals of Aether is an independently developed, Smash-inspired 2-D fighting game by a small team of talented indie developers.
