The time has come: "Catch the final video presentation dedicated to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U on Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. PT. Masahiro Sakurai will provide details on Cloud and more in this worldwide broadcast." This will be the final Smash presentation we receive according to this official Nintendo announcement.

When SmashEurope was announced the community was excited to a portal specifically for the European scene. Now it's time for a slightly ore overlooked scene to have its time in the spotlight. Introducing SmashAsia! This brand new website aims to be a "dedicated community group in East Asia." with the goal to "not only grow the smash scene, but to keep up with the times and develop optimal ways to run our communities."

With Project M ceasing development, the Smash community has been in a bit of turmoil. Famous vloggers have made their comments, members of the old PMDT have made personal appeals, and now the largest Project M Podcast, The Salt Mines, has had a chance to weigh in themselves. Today, SmashBoards and Source Gaming are proud to announce, “Smash Weekly”. Smash Weekly is a partnership between the two sites in order to provide high quality, enjoyable podcasts for the Smash Community. Smash Weekly will alternate between the two sites, and “themes”, allowing a wide variety of topics within the Smash community to be highlighted.

It’s been a big year for Australian smash. BAM 7 in May featured some of the best Melee players in the world and had the first female winner of a major tournament. Perth and Sydney hosted new tournament series that were both won by out of state challengers. Dan Fornace's upcoming game, Rivals of Aether, has been in Early Access for a few months now. The game, appearing on Xbox One and PC, has drawn quite some attention for it’s Smash Bros styled gameplay, with interesting twists to the formula. So far, the roster has contained six characters; Zetterburn, Orcane, Wrastor, Kragg, Forsburn and Maypul. However, the update today adds many new things and changes to the game, including the 7th fighter and first “secret” character, Absa! MySmashCorner's latest youtube video covers a technique he discovered early in the 3DS version of Smash 4, but could not reliably recreate until just recently--the ability to get up from the ledge without lag, letting the player act as soon as they are back on stage. In the video, he gives instructions on how to execute this new tech, and lists what known characters can take advantage of it, and on what stages.

Smashboards is proud to announce that the Smash Back Room has officially been launched for Smash Wii U. In the past Smash Back Rooms have existed for Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl. These rooms have served the purpose of centralizing and organizing leadership within the community in order to come together for projects such as tier lists and match-up charts. Players, organizers, content creators and theorists have all come together in the past to push the scene forward through a collaborate outlet. In addition to providing the medium, Smashboards will also be providing the group with a monetary budget to allow the group to have more ability to see projects through.

People headed to Las Vegas would love to see a royal flush at the the poker tables. Well this Vegas Smash 4 player got a royal flush but in a very different way. Kyle "RF7 SK92" King has been signed by eSports team Royal Flush! For those who do not know, RF& SK92 is the number one power ranked Melee player in Las Vegas playing as Falco and previously placed 8th place at the original GENESIS, 7th at EVO 2009, and 2nd at DVDA 8.

Today Smashboards is launching a new medium for interacting with your fellow smashers: Smash Connect. In addition to talented players the Smash community is filled with talented artists and technically proficient individuals. Until this point there has not been an easily accessible method for these creative people to promote their work. Smash Connect now offers various sections that allow this.

When the first Nintendo Direct was announced since the passing of Satoru Iwata Nintendo fans were excited. Then Sakurai himself retweeted the direct and the website movie list for Smash broke (something that has happened before other DLC videos released). Well Smash fans the hype was very real as we got a brand new character coming to Smash: Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7!

Haven eSports has been busy signing players! They recently added Mister Eric and DC as well as AceStarThe3rd to their roster but now a new player has joined their ranks. SmashG0D has been a solid competitior in all games having mained Fox in Smash 64, Marth in Melee, Samus in Brawl, and uses Rosalina and Luma alongside Kirby in Smash for Wii U. While he is very strong in the other series, he has been signed onto Have eSports specifically for his Melee talents!

We may finally have some incoming Smash news as a new Nintendo direct has been announced! This will be the first Nintendo Direct since its hiatus with the passing of Satoru Iwata so it will be interesting to see how the presentation differs from before. The main subject of the direct is vague simply stating "updates on upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS releases"...

With Genesis a little over two months away, time is ticking to put together funds for travel and accommodations. The Smash 64 community may be feeling this pressure the most out of the entire Smash umbrella, as it hopes to make history with unprecedented international attendance.

After Apex 2015 and Super Smash Con achieved record registration numbers, Genesis 3 is hopeful to raise the bar even higher. With the return of Isai after a two year hiatus, as well as dominant players like SuPeRbOoMfAn, KeroKeroppi, Jaime, Fireblaster, and Wizzrobe confirmed attending, Genesis 3 is looking to be the most stacked tournament in recent memory.


Not known to many Smashers outside of the close-knit 64 community, the game has its own legendary folklore of "Gods", whom are scattered around the globe: Japan, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Australia...

The People's Choice Awards has been broadcast on CBS since its first show in 1975. The concept of the show is to allow the American people to vote on things like favorite television shows, movies, musics, and more in general categories. This year for the 42nd edition of the show a new category has been added for favorite video game. Super Smash Bros has been nominated along with several other titles to win a People's Choice Award for 2016!

In announcements spanning the last few days, eSports organization Arcane eSports has signed four Smash players onto their team: Myran, Lyric, Feel Tension, and Seagull Joe. "The Smash scene as a whole is an amazing community full of passionate and willing players and it is my honor to represent them as the Super Smash Bros. Melee player of Arcane eSports." said Lyric. "I'm looking forward to this extraordinary journey with you all."
