Also I have modified all other patterns in the Pokémon pack to be non-customisable as they're all things with set in stone colour schemes.

It may not be ideal, but my personal pick for Sonic alts in a future Smash game would be for them to be split in four: Modern, Classic, Boom, and Movie, each with color palettes.

I couldn’t do this for Mario Smash because of the particular way we ended up designing him, though.

Considering how Smash’s remixes of the WarioWare vocal songs (besides the second version of Ashley’s Song anyway) all change the original song’s genre, I was curious about how they could potentially change Penny’s Song for a future Smash (cause if that song isn’t included I’m rioting).

In my head, I’ve actually kind of managed to imagine a sort of Big Band, Frank Sinatra-ish version of the song that I think sounds interesting enough. But I’m not sure. What would you guys think?

So this kid at the place where I’m working for the summer has a Pokémon backpack. And I used to think it was retro because it only has Pokémon from generations 1 and 2 on it, including some you don’t normally see merchandised that much like Wobbufett. Plus, the art is in the older style, with the different shading. You probably know what I’m talking about…

but then I just discovered Lucario is on the backpack too. And that confuses me to no end, because there are absolutely NO Gen 3 Pokémon on the backpack, and Lucario is the ONLY Gen 4 Pokémon. This shouldn’t be affecting me this badly, but this just doesn’t make any sense to me and it’s kind of throwing me off.

Genuinely trying to figure out if a balanced moveset for Shedinja that still manages to include Wonder Guard somehow and not feel excessively gimmicky is possible

All I know for starters is that Wonder Guard won’t be exactly the same as in Pokémon- Shedinja can still take damage from all attacks like a normal character. I’m thinking about maybe having it take less damage and knockback from regular attacks though, and anything considered “super effective” would deal extra damage and knockback. But I’m not sure what should be considered super effective for balancing purposes.

I've been thinking- a fighting game in which every character was just a regular, real-life animal could actually be very interesting. I'd prefer it to have the animals be mostly realistic, save for a few things you could pull for special moves such as giving an Elephant fighter an infinite supply of water to spray from its trunk or a Bear character perhaps being able to throw beehives.

I'm not sure if I'd rather it be a traditional fighter or a platform fighter though. They could both work, really...although the traditional fighter might be a better pick if only for a lack of especially interesting stage layout variety that wouldn't be too weird and unrealistic looking (regardless of the fact that you'd have, like, an alligator and a flamingo jumping around all over whatever layout it was.)

Something I discovered that probably isn’t new information but the Mario wiki doesn’t seem to mention it at all:

The Pac-Mountain and Pac-Labyrinth theme from Mario Kart Arcade GP 1 & 2 actually contains a snippet of the Pac-Land theme, which is actually the theme song to the old Pac-Man cartoon. I just find that fun and interesting.

I seriously hate the whole “Mario kills Toads because Bowser turned the Toads into Bricks” thing. First of all, it seems like 99% of the population believes it’s a thing, despite the concept of Bowser turning Toads into things hasn’t been legitimately accepted as part of the Mario story ever since Super Mario Bros., and even then I don’t think Nintendo even wants to say that even actually happened in the game anymore anyways.

Secondly, everyone who says Mario is killing the Toads is actually just plain wrong anyway- the instruction manual actually clearly states that the Toads are only the bricks you CAN’T break, which are the ones that contain items (The idea is that the Toads are rewarding Mario for finding them). But nobody ever wants to actually read the entire manual, so hardly anyone even knows that part is there.

So, I’m working on a roster for my own idea of an Ultimate sequel. The cast is a combination of my own preferences as well as what I feel like Smash should still keep around just because.

As it stands, I’m sitting at a maximum of 45 unique characters plus 10 clones in the base game, and probably only 5 DLC characters.

It’s actually really not easy picking who gets to stay and who doesn’t, especially when I want to keep this at a fairly more tolerable character count for balancing purposes. I will definitely want to touch this up over time for various reasons, either for roster curation or simply promoting variety, but for now, this is the cast I’ve picked out:
