    I don't know what people mean about Zelda having a bad disadvantage state, and especially when it comes to getting off the ledge. Not only is she good at either staying or getting off the ledge, she ocassionally prefers it. She's one of the few characters that can stall there, and I don't see huge counterplay against it.

    I see so many mediocre plays in montages, and yet, they have thousands of more views and Likes than my own. It's not even about bragging or heavily downplaying others. They're legitimately average, at best. Their editing and music isn't even all that...

    Am I the only one that feels Bowser is way too heavy in this game? There's a legitimate handful of strong moves and setups that don't kill at like 120-130.

    Unless you're, liek, Zelda or something. Then he's just another lightweight.

    Bowser is not that heavy. Compared to other superheavies, then yeah, he's hella heavy.

    I just had an epiphany:

    I don't care about winning tournaments, I just want to take names. So if they send the big guys down to me in WR1, they're in for a surprise.

    I used a GC controller for around 3 weeks until I settled for Joycons. For what it took me to get used to the GC controller, I did it in basically one night with Joycons.

    I don't understand how the GC controller is so popular. About the only controller more awkward to play Smash is the 64 controller. Played Melee with my friend when he got his PC and my hands were hurting after an hour or so. Though to be fair, I was using a $20 knockoff, not an actual one.

    Had a bunch of badass matches with some dude, which I assume was from Chile. He started kicking my ass with Chrom, then I somehow decide to go kaioken or some **** and turn that around. The fun part was, there was no one else getting in the Arena, for some reason. We were just playing for like 30-40 minutes, unimterrupted. I pulled some badass plays, as well as one hell of a reverse 3-stock comeback.

    This, here. These kind of matches and good times make it worth it. Good players, good matches and sportsmanship. This a side to online I don't see very often.

    I feel I don't have real ambition. I just see these superstars and their achievement stories, and the only drive I have is a sort of annoyance born from envy. I never had that feeling inside of me, but everyone just goes on about it, making me feel more like an outsider, and I don't want to be left behind because I didn't have that priviledge of being born with that inner "spark".

    Over the years I've come to realize that "ambition" and "drive" are just natural desires to do something. They aren't really some noble purpose like they're romanticized to be, but are inherently personal and selfish things. You can spin it as some epic undertaking by a heroic individual, but you can just as easily spin it as a nerd hyper obsessed over their pet project. The two aren't exactly different at the end of the day.

    The people who say that you have to grit your teeth and bear it, are the people that try to pick up an instrument or language and then drop it soon after. The trick is to keep things fun and not make them feel like a chore to do. You make the most progress when you're having the most fun. Otherwise, you're going to keep building up a mental resistance and hamper your progress. And that will ultimately lead to burnout.

    The people who are best at what they do, enjoy what they do the most. They can persevere through the bad times, because those times are part of the experience and thus the enjoyment. The suffering is what makes the payoff of success so sweet to them. But if you don't care about the payoff as much as they do, you might as well be practicing self-harm.

    I've had this exact feeling for the past few weeks now. It's that feeling that everyone will go on to do great things while you just sit on the sidelines and feel worthless.

    Best way I've been trying to cope with it is by trying to get my work out there by writing and such.

    My mother has a tendency to point about how other people my age did a lot more than I have, as if that's apparently supposed to encourage. She always compares me to other people's success. My response to that, as usual: If that's what they wanted to dom then fine. Good for them. I don't care about any of that, so I don't know why I'm expected to do the same.

    I really don't care about most things other people do. I just don't want to be in love with a girl and have her be interested in these hotshots because they have flashy billboard signs for dreams, while I'm "just" me.

    My only taunting habit is taunting Little Macs on every failed recovery attempt. Got too used to it while playing with CPUs that when I encounter one I always tbag.

    I don't know how people expect to become better players by letting emotions carry them. You're not in a shounen anime. If anything, I just feel it's what makes me such a ****ty player. Nothing's held me back more than my ego, and it's ridiculous.

    I would play miles and miles better if I didn't have this mental ****ing krutch in my head. To give you an idea, you see this kind of stuff in people like M2K. I'm not M2k and I'm saying that, but I honestly feel I become much worse because of it.

    I actively seek to stay calm in all games I play but do fail at it, so I can distinguish when I am emotional and when I play worse. Surprise surprise, those two always match up.

    I saw a Sheik at 6.4M GSP that kept spamming FSmash, and people later wonder why I can't take "Elite" seriously.

    A lot of people just settle for winning, and not really learning anything. What does it matter if you're in "Elite" but you're still doing the same bad habits? That's why I don't bother. I try to practice specific things, such as combos or technicals, which means sacrificing wins here and there.

    Most reliable "kill" move, I think? 90% of all the time I used Sheik ends with an FSmash.

    My ego and OCD thing is the single biggest thing that hold me back from getting better in Smash. I can't play online without getting pissed off about everything. I may or may not read too much into things, but if someone does a Smash attack like 3 times in a row, I think they're arrogant ****s, and that just throws me off mentally even more.

    It's a game, I get it. But I can't shake that feeling off at that moment. Rather than improving or even simply enjoying, I just feel it's a vain ego battle.

    Dude I HIGHLY ENJOY Bayleaf, even though I'm going back to my Zelda roots (...in Ultimate). Bayleaf isn't GOING NOWHERE, he's likely going to be my co-main.

    100% my main now. She feels so comfortable and smooth to play. She’s also just a fun character in general. So I’m playing her much more serious now and Corrin is now my secondary lol

    "smooth and comfterble"... that's a new one for me, at least coming from someone else. I definitely got past a certain phase, where Byleth would literally make my hands hurt during the first week. Since I pretty much solo'd Byleth for 5 weeks, it's pretty clear I'm not dropping them anytime soon. They're here to stay.

    I've solo mained Corrin in Smash 4, and I still use them from time to time. I still they're pretty good and horrendously underrated. I think they're a faster version of Byleth.

    Reminder that the Scooby Doo live action was movie was pretty great. You'd think you'd be at that phase where stuff you liked as a kid was "cringe" and didn't age well, but I honestly don't really feel that way about it.

    I don't know why people downplay Chrom just because of his recovery. It's basically his one weakness. That's it. He's pretty much the best character, beyond that. Fast as hell (both, ground and air), ridiculous frame data, combos and a sword. You'd think a character like this would also struggle killing, but he doesn't.

    I'm pretty sure most people don't even know how to exploit Chrom's "weakness", or even have anything in their kit to even contest it (Wario, I guess).

    Recovery is very important in any Smash metagame.

    People used that excuse for Cloud in Smash 4, and he was basically Top 3 in the game towards the end.

    It's not the worst weakness to have but effectively it makes launchers against you kill earlier than the actual kill per cent if the opponent can edge guard you well. Probably also makes going off stage to edge guard riskier. So effectively you can't get lauched as often as the opponent.

    Coronavirus is making my whole community ****ing weird. Now people are greeting each other WITH THEIR FOOT. Jesus. If we're all in the same enclosed and crowded place, you're going to get it either way, whether you touch your hands or not.

    It's a dumb concern, but it's just weird as hell.

    Quickplay literally bugs the **** out of me sometimes. Sometimes you just want to play, but you pay the price. It's legitimately stressful, at times.
