Hey Yoshi's, do you guys think it's worth the time to learn Dragonic Reverse? I need to find out what you guys think about that before I try to learn Lucas's DJ cancel thing that's a lot harder than DR'ing.

DR is not a requisite to playing a high-level Yoshi, since Scatz is the only Yoshi to ever really apply DR to his game.

With that said, DR is useful to learn. It gives Yoshi more guaranteed options off grab releases and gives him the ability to quickly stop or change directions out of a dash.

Do you play Yoshi with tap jump on? If you do, then it won't be too hard to pick up DR; just tap up, X/Y, A. Easy.

If, like most Yoshis, you have tap jump off when you play Yoshi (recommended to minimize the risk of losing your DJ when using egg toss offstage), it depends on how seriously you intend on playing Yoshi because the easiest way to DR with Yoshi involves adopting the Y-B-C-stick setup:

A: attack
B: jump
X: special
Y: jump
C-stick: smash
L: whatever (generally shield/jump)
R: whatever (generally shield/jump)

This way, with one thumb slide, you can hit Y, B, and the C-stick down, giving you the jump, double jump, and aerial (cancel) necessary for the DR. Much easier than tapping X/Y twice and A. This is the controller setup many Yoshis use, including Scatz (who pioneered this setup), Airborne, Delta-cod, Sharky, and myself. Everyone that seriously plays Yoshi should use this setup.

Now, learning a new control setup isn't as hard as it looks or sounds. While it does take an adjustment period, it probably took me about a week or two to get fully accustomed to this setup, to the point where I never accidentally hit B when I wanted to do a special.

If you're just messing around with Yoshi for fun, and don't intend to use him seriously, i.e. in tourneys and such, there's not much of a reason to change your controls for a character you play only casually. Now don't get me wrong, it's not like other characters are unplayable with Y-B-C-stick. The only difference between this and the default tap-off control scheme is that the X and B buttons have traded roles. I play with other characters all the time, and Y-B-C-stick doesn't make it any harder to play those characters compared to the default tap-off setup. If you're willing to go through a short adjustment period to a new control scheme just to play a casual character, that's great; I just can't see most people doing that.

Thanks :) I'm not intending on playing Yoshi though, I just wanted to know if you Yoshi's used your DR before I decided to learn the same thing with Lucas but a ton harder. Seems like it's not necessary though so I won't bother practicing it, thanks again

I use DR in my game, its actually really helpful as a mix up. Sure, outside of a few specific MUs where I can abuse it I only use it 2 or 3 times a game, but the lack of abusing it is what I find makes it better. It causes them to not watch for those options as much and allows for those great mind games that you'll need to get wins. Idk, I think DR should become more of a staple in everyone's game, but not so much a 'bread and butter' move like our Jab, Egg Lay, Egg Toss, etc.

No thats egg toss.

Egg Toss my favorite.

And Nair. and Bair is sexy.

Egg Roll is gay and I never use it anymore cause I've only landed it like once. I always get shield grabbed by everybody.
It'd work on Yoshi. I guess.

Is wario good on MKWii? where is he tier wise?

Wario is High Tier in MKWii. For Heavy Weights though, it goes:

Funky Kong (Top Tier)
Rosalina (Top Tier)
Large Mii (High Tier)
Dry Bowser (High Tier)
Wario (High Tier)
Bowser (Mid Tier)
Donkey Kong (Mid Tier)
Waluigi (Mid Tier)
King Boo (Low Tier)

Tiers don't make near the difference in MKWii as they do in Brawl though, so don't make too big of a deal about it.

Its pretty competetive, you just need to look in the right places.
