A Fire Emblem 11 game with custom maps and online battles. I know Nintendo is going to do that later on for Wii U. xD

On the side note, I did wanted to see info on New Super Mario Bros Mii.

Man , that would definetly be Nintendo's best Fire Emblem yet, I couldn't get enough of PoR and RD for Wii. I'm hoping for a new protagonist this time around.

I don't like the idea of Mario Bros Mii. When I play Mario I want to play as Mario or Luigi, not my mii.
While you may not like it, it's an option you don't have to use.

I know some people (Sister and Mother) who used ONLY their Mii in Mario Kart Wii. Someone will enjoy it, and it creates some humorous moments. Such as Michael Jackson back in a platform game. Or the irony of having a Mario Mii playing in a Mario game

I loved using my Mii on Mario Kart Wii online. I really like the Mii Outfit B with Peach's dress. I used that mostly.

And yes, it was funny seeing other people's Mii's. I was most active in races in 2008 before the election and I remember somebody racing with a Barack Obama Mii. It was such a ridiculous portrayal that it made me laugh.

I don't know that I'd use my Mii in Super Mario Bros., though.

So yeah...bad news...the Wii U won't be able to play DVDs or Blu-Ray discs...

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/15/wii-u-wont-have-dvd-or-blu-ray-playback-will-include-social-me/

http://ca.kotaku.com/5812090/the-wii-u-will-not-play-dvds-and-blu+ray-discs

Sure, everyone has a DVD player or two in their households, but it wouldn't hurt to have another one IMO.
Playing Blu-Rays could've gave Sony competition in the Blu-Ray market and possibly end in a little more long term profit....

Something in the back of my head tells me that if Ninty made a Fire emblem game for the Wii-U, that it would be japan only. Why is that? Maybe it has to do with FE12 not coming over here?

I'd love to see remakes/updated ports of the silent scope arcade series come to wiiU. It would work flawlessly, and the same kind of gameplay was already shown in the wiiu trailer with the wiiblaster attachment, with the tablet as the scope.

For those that dont know what silent scope is, its an arcade shooting game where you get a sniper rifle. On the main arcade screen you have a wide un-zoomed targeting reticule. The rifle on the arcade stand has a scope. Look into the scope you have a zoomed view with sniper cross hairs, just like a real sniper rifle. If I remember right there were 3 games made.

I can think of so many ways the tablet could add to a Fire Emblem game.

Playing Mario with MiiUs doesn't sound like a bad idea.

It is interesting the number of companies saying that they are backing the wii-u. I bet most of their support will simply be ports.

Yeah. the Tablet could be where the grid is used and you could use the stylus pen thing to draw routes and highlight units a certain way to examine their attributes.

Pity it won't mean a thing for us if it's Japan-only.

God ******!, when is Nintendo ever gonna include AT LEAST a DVD player?!! It's kinda ridiculous if you ask me, sure I have no "real" use for one but c'mon!

It Would have been nice knowing that it had one, plus it would have boosted a sales a bit if it had a Blu-Ray included, god! IMO, Nintendo needs to market a little better.

As for FE, I hope that is not the case, or even region locked if it does. :/

Having no Blu-Ray player also means the console will be more affordable. I'm guessing they will be relying on Netflix and Hulu to stream movies. While I like both, neither compares to watching a movie on Blu Ray.

I need a console that has DVD because since they all have DVDs and BluRay players these days, there's no DVDs in my house anymore. All me and my parents use are my PS3 for the BluRay to watch movies or watch instant on Netflix (even if 360 can do it to I guess)

For someone who doesn't have a use for a DVD player, you sure seem upset about this.

Yea it's a bummer when you only have one system that has it, but is heavily used for everything, and to have another system like it would be of great convinience.

Like I said, it would be of great convinience if you could rely on another device for such a purpose, and yes I know the Wii-U isn't meant for movies but still...

I would have gladly spent $500 on a Wii-U knowing it had such features.

It's kind of expected. DVD players are cheap by themselves, and Blu-Ray is proprietary. (Nintendo would have to pay the Blu-Ray's creators (IIRC, Sony and Matsu****a) for each system they sold, which is just silly from a business standpoint, and would raise the price of the systems)

Captain Falcon Mii + Michael Jackson Mii + Chuck Norris Mii + Mario + Platforming = Good game

The sad part about this is that I think the tablet wouldve actually been pretty cool if you could stream netflix on it or watch whatever cd you put in the Wii U on it if you don't have access to your tv

Hopefully Nintendo wises up and stops being so old fashioned and stupid about their consoles. Because seriously the only thing holding Nintendo up these days is the nostalgia factor and their past successes

Lol..

I think that came out wrong:urg:

I meant I would if it had a Blu-Ray player included, a DVD feature would just be a nice add-on for the Wii-U but certaintly not for the high price.

Whaaa?

Wii Sports is like the most successful game of all time. More people have probably played Wii Sports than any other video game. I don't think my grandma has nostalgia for Mario Bros or Link to the Past. She likes Wii bowling a ****load though. Same with my little nephew, my mom, etc etc.

People like to act like Nintendo is barely scraping by just because they don't like the direction they took, and ignore that Nintendo won last gen in a strictly fiscal sense. Whereas Sony is JUST now, this year, starting to see profit from the PS3.

lol. The Wii is their most popular home console EVER. This week alone, they sold over 230,000 Wiis around the world, and it is likely to surpass the PlayStation in console sales by the time that the Wii-U comes out and completely takes over the Wii's position.

And why wouldn't the Wii U tablets be able to watch Netflix? They have stereo speakers, a screen, and the Wii itself has Netflix, so how could using tablet to view it be impossible?

What is your definition of being "old fashioned"? Bringing new ways to play games to consoles? That makes sense.

Nintendo had great success with the Wii, they took a gamble with the motion controls and it payed off. They played it safe with graphics, and because of the cost of the hardware, they profited off each console sold. Usually consoles are sold at a loss.
Sony is JUST now, this year, starting to see profit from the PS3.
I think they started to see profit last year, but the point is still valid. It took Sony 4+ years to see profit from their system. Regardless of what you think of the PS3(I have one, I like it), I think everyone can agree that that's bad. This is why you probably won't see the PS4 for several more years. Sony reps said they expect the PS3 to have a 10 year lifespan. Microsoft will probably hold out nearly as long as Sony to maximize their profits off the 360.

When you present your new idea in a half ***** way like the Wii U is apparently doing, that's barely different from being old fasioned imo.

And the fact that they tried to go the easy way out and appeal to the larger market of people who have absolutely no idea what they're doing when they buy a console and buy all that shovelware crap, does not mean that the Wii was actually a good console. It has horrid online, no apps like the ones that the 360 and PS3 have, no DVD while there's consoles like the PS3 that get BluRay, it has the worse graphics out of the 3, it has terrible 3rd party support, and a lot of the 1st party games suck because half of them are all gimmicky games that a lot of them require you to waste yet another ~30$ to buy WiiMotion+ (I don't know the actual price sorry) that shouldn't be necessary because the controllers should've been as responsive as it is with WiiMotion in the first place

I'm pretty sure the only 1st party game that uses WiiMotion+ was Wii Sports Resort, which came bundled with it. And the Wiimote+ with the motionplus built in are a lot more common than the original wiimotes nowadays so it's not even an issue.

But, you originally said

"Because seriously the only thing holding Nintendo up these days is the nostalgia factor and their past successes"

That's what everyone was responding to. That's a different statement than "Wii sucks because of [flaws]".

Nintendo is a business, of course they are going to try and capture as big an audience as possible.

Also, I'm not sure how games like Mario Galaxy are "gimmicky". Does "gimmick" just mean "something I don't like"?

So you basically think the Wii's success was wholly undeserved, roach? :(

I know it's your opinion, but there is a whole bunch of stuff the Wii has over the other two that you don't seem to have noticed. It doesn't overheat and get a RROD every fortnight like the Xbox, it's easier to program for than the PS3, and it's cheaper than both. Not to mention, the other two companies are pretty much doing the exact same thing by trying to win a larger proportion of gamers with Kinect and Move add-ons - which are way more expensive than any items Nintendo sell.

It's Ridge Racer. RIIIIIIDGEEEE RACEEEEEEEER.

And the fact that they tried to go the easy way out and appeal to the larger market of people who have absolutely no idea what they're doing when they buy a console and buy all that shovelware crap, does not mean that the Wii was actually a good console.
FYI, the most advanced console of any generation has never won a console war.

It has horrid online, no apps like the ones that the 360 and PS3 have, no DVD while there's consoles like the PS3 that get BluRay,
DVD playback would have added to the cost, and Sony helped create BluRay.

it has the worse graphics out of the 3
So did the PlayStation 2, and we know how that turned out.

, it has terrible 3rd party support, and a lot of the 1st party games suck because half of them are all gimmicky games that a lot of them require you to waste yet another ~30$ to buy WiiMotion+ (I don't know the actual price sorry)
As LT said, VERY few games use the WiiMotion+ and all of the games that REQUIRE it come with it bundled in. (Also, the extension is less than $20 by itself, but it's better just to get a game that comes with it.)

that shouldn't be necessary because the controllers should've been as responsive as it is with WiiMotion in the first place
Just like how the PS3 should have come with rumble in the first place?

No argument there, though it is hard to imagine them keeping this up by using constant shenanigans. I'm pretty sure that 50 year old soccer mom isn't gonna care about a touch screen controller.

I think Nintendo is well aware of their quite lackluster library. This is why they are somewhat hyping third party support this time around. I don't want an entirely hardcore based Nintendo console, I want what the ideal concept of the WiiU is, an all inclusive console. I really hope 80% of the library isn't kiddie shovelware again.
