I don't main MK because Kirby and DDD are more nice to play, to be good with Kirby and DDD is most satisfactory than be good with MK, because everybody is good playing with MK.

This, tired of people claiming i play based on tiers, i don't believe tiers make THAT much of a difference, CF can still be played, and he can still win, just like anyone else.
Tiers don't matter that much, but don't push your luck with CF. ;)

Tornado is cool, no matter what people say. However, as a main, he doesn't have the stuff I like in a character. But the tornado is cool.

Uhh, I like using every move in a characters arsenal that isn't spammy, and Meta has a lot of spam-like moves. Sometimes I use him because he's fun to play with sometimes (gliding under stages[zomgz] and DownB in SD ftw).

For the last time, people, there are MK's that actually find his quick and efficient playstyle fun. There are also people who -- ZOMG -- LIKE MK as a character in his actual videogame series! These people played MK from midnight of the day that Brawl came out until now because they like the character, not because they magically predicted that he'd be top tier. WOW, is that even a possibilty? In your guys' minds, I guess that it's not.

For the record, I fit the above descriptions...especially the one that mentions maining MK from day one. Just thought I'd mention that.
This surprisingly sums me up. I actually wanted to main King Dedede when Brawl was released because of how BA I thought he was from the original Kirby games. Unfortunately, I was extremely bad at this game and I thought he sucked. =[ Now I main Falco. I'm pretty good with D3 now, but I wish I had learned to play with him from the beginning instead of ditching him for other characters.

I don't main Meta Knight because idk I never took him very seriously. I need to learn to play as him though because I've never done anything but spam his B moves lol.

A few reasons:

1. He's boring to use (IMO, of course)
2. I don't want to contribute to the MK parade, and help hurting the metagame
3. I think using MK makes you lame
4. I hate MK
5. MK is a ball. I want to roll him down a hill

After playing literally THOUSANDS OF HOURS of Melee Fox, I almost mained MK but I found him to have few killing options when compared to my last main. So I switched to CF who has a plethora of killing moves. This was before the tier list was even well developed so I had found out afterward that I almost used the cheapest character in SSBB (I was thanking God at that moment)

I don't main him because every time someone sees him, we already know what to expect: nado-spam or gimping. PLay against a good Yoshi or something, and there's stuff to be learned.

I said as soon as he was announced that I would play MK, as he was my favourite character in the Kirby series, but after visiting these places and seeing that people will stereotypically push you into the "tier *****" group and say that you mained him just to win, I decided that I would prove my playing style with other characters. Hence Link and Pika became mains.

Alot of people on the MK board like me have mained MK long before the tier list came out. Most of us spent so much time on him already we thought. Why change now? Really we knew he was good long before everyone stated he was good, so we have every right to main and kick *** with him.

What's wrong with winning?

My answer is simple, I don't want a main. To annoying to do it, and I'm not the one to play sheep either. Man how can somebody so awesome be the most hated?

Thing is, I could care less whether people "started with MK" or picked him up later "just to win," I don't blame them either way. Some people derive their fun from video games by winning, and I respect that. Honestly, in games with "overpowered" characters I blame the creators rather than the players for taking advantage of it. Personally, I don't main MK because his playstyle is simply not fun for me. Its not that he's "cheap" or that people whine about him, its that I simply prefer playing other characters. And my main is Falco with secondary Marth, so don't get the idea that I don't enjoy winning myself ;).

The point is, EVERY MK MAINER says that he mains MK not because of the tier.

Yeah right! The by far strongest guy in the game, mained by 99999999999999 milion people, and NO1 uses him because he is so strong?

I intended to main him, so I'd main the 3 Kirby characters in Brawl ^^ But I just didn't find him fun.

I was going to main him because he looked cool, but then Lucas stole my heart away and I've been using him ever since. If MK was lower tied, I'd use him definately.

Also, Charizard is a badass. So PT was a must.
"F*** you, I'm a dragon!"

I mean c'mon, in his Downthrow, he slams you on the floor, holds his clawed foot over your chest, and breathes fire in your face. And it KOs. How could you NOT use him?

I secondary Kirby and Pika. Kirby was my favorite in the original(and he has a suicide), and I was a Pika/Pichu dual mainer at Melee. Turns out those two are good, which is nice, because having some higher tiered characters in my arsenal will really help me out in some of my tougher matchups for PT and Lucas. And by tougher matchups, I mean Marth.

Why do you people care so much?

Seriously, so what if I like to win, so I play him. You like to live by some "honor code" you made up and you play your way. I like to live by my "win or lose" code and I'll play mine.

Does it make a difference if you played MK because you honestly liked him in Kirby, because you want to win, or because you like his style? Is there a difference between a MK that wins a tournament that played every Kirby game that somehow makes him/her better than the MK who picked MK up the day Tier List v1.0 came out?

People were talking about a MK has no right to complain etc etc etc if they lose. Neither does a Toon Link. Nor does a Zelda. Not even Captain Falcon. You chose your character. You know what you got yourself into, and its up to you to break down boundaries and set new standards. Seriously people. How about just offering a "good game" and realizing you couldn't win the matchup?

All this is coming down to is a bunch of judgmental people throwing opinions out of right vs wrong in a competitive scene. Let people do just that, compete. Strive to be better. Strive to top the best. There will always be MK players. There will always be more top tier players. There will always be those who support the little guy and strive to make him something. Many times that works out for the best, and until these whiny attitudes and need for justifications on why we do/don't play a character stop, the community isn't going to continue to evolve.

Can we please stop having RightvsWrong threads and continue having serious discussions over what makes a character top, what can be done to counteract it, and the actual severity of letting it go?

I don't play as him simply because I see myself as part of the camp that's trying to figure out how to counter him. That's what competitive is - you see a strat, you either beat 'em, or join 'em. I'm not satisfied we can't beat 'em.

When I see an Y on Z matchup, where Y is winning, I think either "Yeah, I want to be a part of that Y action," or "I think Z can do better than this / beat Y." (or of course, "I don't care about Z or Y.")

In MK's case, partly motivated by my dislike of his physics, partly motivated by this talk of banning and the divisions in the community already being formed, I see myself as wanting to find how other characters can beat that ****.

So that, you know, community doesn't have to ban him. Also, so that we can conclude something if we try and fail.

It always feels good to have something to work up to, as well. Taking MK as the guy 'to beat' really makes me want to be good with my mains. If they'll never have a good matchup, then since they'll never have a good matchup, I'll always be pressured to improve my personal ability.
