As soon as I began playing Melee at school as recently as August 2008, I realized Brawl sucked. As a noob on both games, I found Melee way more fun, and I didn't know any of the WD or SHFFL or anything. I learned that just recently.

I found out at my first brawl tournament. I played samus for a long time, practiced stuff etc. Then I got defeated by an MK spammer that barely played brawl. That really hurt lol. After a while I saw some new vids showing up here on smashboards. And ****, that made me happy in the pants. I still have a long way to go as for melee goes. especially since my game got kinda f-cked somehow. Anyway, glad I'm back.

Never, since Brawl is a fresh game. Due to our unfamiliarity with the game, and its immaturity, the game has many, many possibilities. With the discovery of hacks for Brawl, its possibilities were increased, making the game even more fun/better.

You people need to look at it with a fresh mind. You can't compare it to SSB/Melee and get positive differences.

For the 65456485647th time, the name of the thread is "Why don't you like Brawl?"
NOT
"Do you like Brawl?"

If you like Brawl, leave. Now. WITHOUT posting in this thread.

then theres the fact that its slow paced, no l-canceling/wavedashing.
just less competitive to me.

I've been playing Brawl since its release, but was only able to enjoy it with friends (granted, for hours on end). I never got into the melee competitive scene much (at all) aside from watching a few combo videos and trying wavedashing.

But recently, my friend reintroduced me to Melee. I started trying Fox and Falco, and now there's no going back to Brawl for me. WHY DID I NEVER REALIZE HOW FREAKING AWESOME MELEE IS?

This is a comment from someone who has no idea what theyre talking about.
Maybe you have no idea what I mean.

Winning based on who gets the smashball first I consider luck. Getting stupid supports like the advance war guys is luck, all those smashball and supports are luck. Tripping is random, and other junk thrown into Brawl as well.

Does it really take a lot of skill to run away from some one and spam? It takes a lot more skill to be able to work around that strategy than be the person using it. If you ask me that is a huge imbalance right there.

Take Smash64 as an example I've played soo many players online and get my *** handed to me over and over again but at the same time I don't mind. They play an amazing offensive and defensive game skill wise and strategy wise. I accept defeat and am not ashamed of it. Melee is similar to this but I haven't gotten my *** handed to me by the players I payed badly like the ones I encounter online on Smash64.

Brawl however is just annoying with majority of players playing like a chickens who win based on running and camping. It's just no fun playing this way, either losing or winning.

I'm no sore loser but the strategies used in Brawl just annoys me, I'm done with a game that pisses me off most of the time.

This is how I got started in Melee again, I owned the game since it's release pretty much but didn't give it time.

It was only when Brawl came out that I started playing Smashbros again and when I realized I hated Brawl based on pretty much everything I hated I gave Melee a shot and it was then I started kicking myself for not playing Melee sooner!

The fact that you even need to THINK about hacks to justify Brawl in comparison to Melee just proves that Brawl is inferior.

Brawl has been studied/played very extensively already. The new things that are "discovered" in Brawl are char. specific play-style differences or some minor, almost useless technique. Nothing is going to emerge from Brawl's "immaturity" that is going to drastically steer the game for the better.

IF I was flaming I didn't mean it. My reply was a result of a personal insult earlier. I was only trying to back up my statement. User didn't bother to support their statement but felt it was okay to say I had no idea what I'm talking about.

Sorry about the double post

when i first played brawl i thought i would never play melee ever again. but after a few weeks i went to a melee smashfest and the game was amazingly refreshing and i just went back to it. the community was amazing, the gameplay was fun and i just kept to it. the more i played brawl, the more i realized how much i loved melee more. ^^

I hadn't bought a wii till the day Brawl came out, along with my preordered midnight release copy. I had the highest hopes of anyone I knew. I played all through sunday and skipped classes the next 4 days trying to find SOMETHING... ANYTHING to keep playing the game, by Thursday I had returned my Wii and copy of Brawl to Gamestop.

I still play occasionally, a few newcomers that come to our local smash community swear by it. I have made it my goal to crush anyone who argues Brawl is better Melee with the broken mechanics of Brawl. In some small way, this fills the void in my black heart. I refuse to pay for another Nintendo game until they get over this dumbed down phase (Brawl, Mario Kart Wii), where they decided to **** all over competitive players. Sakurai better not have any part in Smash Bros. 4. It was clearly a complete fluke that he directed a near perfect game, then degraded it the garbage that is Brawl, he added tripping because he wanted "mischieviousness in the game". It is a joke.

I totally feel you about the stupid Nintendo dumbing down games for mass audiences. I really loved Mario Kart and the Wii version ruined it for me, I was really disappointed with the GC version of Mario Kart already and to have this was just even worse. Winning a race is random luck, I'm sure other people would agree.

So far Nintendo has disapointed me with several of their new games. I haven't bought anything for my Wii forever. I only use it to play Melee.

I wonder what the Pro Mario Kart players have to say about it lol.

brawl is fun to brawl, not for competition

you'll never see anything like a WOMBO COMBO or anything in brawl
it's just hit someone and hope they do something stupid so you can hit them again

i wont disagree that there's a slight competitiveness to brawl
i've challenged a few tourney placers in brawl to see how i would do

and i do fairly well against them which actually makes it so brawl isnt a competitive game lol

You would have won if you had just picked Meta Knight.

Edit: Shroomed, did we play at a Day at the Zhu 1?

To be fair, MK: DD was not bad, but the new Mario Kart... Ya it's pretty horrible to play "competitively" (not like those games are designed with that in mind anyways though).

Agrees Mario Kart Double Dash wasn't at all bad it was a good game. The mechanics of partnering up and changing driving styles was cool but I guess the game wasn't for me so it left me disapointed.

It's also very difficult because Namco made a Mario Kart game for the Arcades and seeing that game compared to the Wii version really adds to the disappointment of the Wii version. I wish we had that version instead of the Wii version.

Lets hope they do port it to home
