Allrite, so now it's been 3 months now, since I've been playing Super Awesome Yoshi, and WOW, omg, it's soooo fun you guys... Like really... No joke, here, I'm going to play Yoshi, in tournament, and make him one of my best characters to use.... IMO, he has soo much unexplored potential...and I'm gonna do anything I can to push his game.... Axe, has been an excellent motivator for me... as I have for him with his Pikachu, and he was there to support me when i started with Mewtwo as well....

Like I've stated many times, many places...I am going to play Yoshi, and hopefully motivate other players as well, to believe the same theory that Axe and I follow, and that any character can be pushed with the proper dedication/motivation... Not to mention of all the characters I play.. I enjoy playing Yoshi the most...and I never thought I'd feel this way ^^

Anyway upon request, people have wanted me to play vs premier players, and hopefully this will be enough for now, I hope you all enjoy these... ^^ Please, rate, comment, critique.. you know the drill ^^

Well allritey it's been about 2 months since I've been playing the dino, and man, it's been the best two months of training I've ever had with any character I've been learning.. So it's official, after years upon years of playing Mewtwo, I wanted to expand my low tier game more, I've decided to take Yoshi into "serious" matters like I have with Mewtwo.. Indeed, I understand, the amount of training/practice I will need to allot to become a great Yoshi player, but with the amount of dedication and motivation that I have, I like my chances.

Upon history of video games, that I've played in the Past, games such as Mario kart, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, Golf etc, any of the Mario related series I've always always used Yoshi, as he's been my favorite mario related character ever since the series has come out. Since SSBM, I feel as if i've "neglected" yoshi due to "better characters" but that hasn't stopped me before with characters such as Mewtwo, so I feel it shouldn't stop me now.

After all I come from the same place which represents Axe's Pikachu, and Taj's Mewtwo so i guess now I'm going to give Yoshi, my goals, so in terms of motivation, it's difficult for me to stay unmotivated, my drive is nearly unmatched, except for few, such as Axe. <3

I will not quit playing Mewtwo, because I still have Mewtwo goals to prove, however, me playing Yoshi, is definetely a large priority I will continue to work on. I can't wait to undergo the same amount of brutal training, the significant amount of losses I will accumulate to get my Yoshi perfected. =p

I will have videos against top AZ players such as Taj, Axe, and AZ's best asap for you all to critique, and hopefully in due time, I can have a premier Yoshi..

Once I get vids up, I'll leave the Yoshi players (you all) to critique and help out mah yoshi! ^^ Thanks again all <3

Lol I'm working on my Yoshi a little bit; more on Mewtwo though. I still have many miles to improve on my Mewtwo before I can take Yoshi seriously like I am right now for Mewtwo!

Also...my all time main which I have neglected in SSBM is Luigi !!! Luigi always gets the short end of the stick LOL =D !!!

Yoshi is the best bottom tier for a fact.


But I wish other people did this, I feel thta you should play as whoever you like and one bottom/low tier(if you aren't alreadly) However I ended up doing this backwards.

But bottom/low tiers train the mind better than most top/high tiers if you ask me.

Thanks everyone I have some matches vs Axe, and some of AZ's premier players I'm working on getting some more footage, but right now atm, I'm having a bit more success than I thought I'd have. Az seems to like my yoshi so far, and in due time it will only get better.. I love this challenge..

Allrite, As promised, i've halted my Mewtwo/Falco to expand and upgrade to my favorite Mario related character "Yoshi" Here are the results of about 3 weeks of practice...and I must admit, I've never had so much fun, perfecting a character...Yoshi, has that "thrill" and fun of playing a character..., and yet the difficulty learning curve that I love so much about him, not to mention, he has MANY horrible matchups, so learning all of these, only hypens the thrill.....I' even miss the feeling of losing match, after match, but just practicing/learning all these matchups.. ^^

As promised, I will keep playing Yoshi, until it reaches my Mewtwo/Falco status....*sigh* gotta love us AZ players... Taj (Mewtwo) Axe (Pikachu) Don't know why AZ loves low tier.. lol but man is it fun...

Anyways, here you all go...Any, and all critique would be greatly appreciated, I' will do every, and I mean every possible thing to make my Yoshi, if not my best character now... Soo...here you go..

I only know how to explain it for the way I do it, but there's a guide for it in the Yoshi forums.. but, what helps me the most, is I shield, than immediately after.. I just DJC Nair...and I get it rather alot... it's fun.. ^^

Parrying is simply shielding precisely when your shield will get hit by an attack (first 4 frames or so, don't remember exactly). When Yoshi is tucking into his egg to shield, he will receive NO shield stun, so can immediately counter with anything you can do out of shield (grab, upsmash, and jump, in Smash64 all three are useful in certain situations but in Melee I would advise only jumping).

EDIT: Forgot that you can also drop through a platform after a parry (if you can drop through platforms with Yoshi's shield in Melee, not completely sure). Also, crouching helps when you parry, because Yoshi's big head isn't in the way lol

I liked the fair - jab reset - uair - uair - nair vs falco. I'll definitely steal that.

Still needs more parries though! Especially against Falco. You can really shut down his typical aerial approach game with parries and force him to think about approaching differently.

Need more vids vs people like AXE, Taj, and Forward too. My Yoshi is competitive vs the normal tourney go'er in Florida but I start getting ***** hard vs TOP players like Colbol (he's in my crew). If you can stay competitive vs an AXE Falco that'll give all of us Yoshi's some inspiration.

maybe try using ledge attack instead of roll up when on the ledge
sometimes you get caught and besides, attacking from the ledge seems to occupy the ledge equal or almost as long as rolling up.

I wonder if yoshi's ledge attack can send at a reverse angle like bowser's....

Gosh, it seems like it's easier to self destruct with Yoshi than it is with spacies.

I'm not really a Yoshi player, but I have some ideas for you. Light shielding is a great way to get out of pressure situations, especially vs Falco. I feel like you could implement that into your game more. Also, wavedashing backwards -> spotdodge. It's not always good to commit to a shield, since, once characters like Falco lock you down, they sort of get in control of things. I feel like at medium range, spot dodging lasers while wavedashing to position yourself against Falco's approaches can be used similarly to waveshielding. It's slower, so you'd have to be cautious using this tactic. Anyway, it probably has some nice applications.

At what % do Falco's lasers break Yoshi's double jump? It occurred to me that if a Yoshi player learned to consistently time DJCs to get through lasers, his defensive game would be considerably better. You're really good with DJCs, though, so just something to think about. I don't know if anybody could get that technical. Lol.
