Guess who has been too busy to update the Yoshi video thread lately?

If you guessed everyone else but me, you are correct!

(But seriously, I'll get to it soon. Meanwhile, vote for Hall of Fame or I'll punch you in the mouth)

So, I met Bwett at Genesis and got 3 matches recorded of us playing. Bwett is probably the nicest, funniest guy I've met in a LONG time. I think I had more fun playing him and watching him play others than I did at any other point during my time in California. Bwett, we'll have to play again next time we're remotely close to each other. Enjoy everyone's commentary on the matches cause it's pretty entertaining at some points. Anyway, this is a best 2 out of 3 friendly we did at the Ramada Inn the first night of Genesis:

YOSH vs. Bwett

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJvQDAa3OwI <== Match 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1lafih4Ggg <== Match 3 (The beginning and ending of this match are absolutely hilarious. If you don't at least smile then something's wrong with you, heh.)

So after watching those, I noticed that you punished every single one of my dash grabs. Looks like I'll have to tone that down for the future =P

:yoshi: You know, the only thing more impressive than those great dittos...

...is the fact that there is a Yosh music video that somehow managed to survive long enough to get posted on YouTube linked in the related video sidebar. I'm pretty sure I haven't heard from them in over a decade. But yeah, GGs @ the videos.

I wish I could've gotten some dittos recorded with bwett, but they weren't nearly as entertaining as that xD. You guys should've heard him vs Edrees when Edrees wanted it to stop being Bwett's turn xDDDD

Didn't post one series on the first page because it looked like a gorilla took a dump on a camera, and then someone tried to use it to record Brawl.

Sorry.

I met Boxingking at the last London tourney, I believe that was the first offline tourney he had been to lol.
Regardless, he has a pretty nice Pikachu... shame I didn't get to play him.

Zudenka another euro Yoshi from Switzerland =)

He has a pretty nice Yoshi, I already posted a small critique on that vid on AiB where he will actually read it so not gonna bother here.

I feel bad at not having a vids yet... soon I hope.

Your offensive play was actually pretty good, you just need to be a bit more cautious, especially off edge.
Really have to remember that Yoshi is so vunerable off edge cos his primary recovery is his double jump.

But that looked like a fluky match to me, you are deffinatly better than the (as Meta mentioned) mediocre Kirby. You are the first Yoshi other than me who I've seen who makes use of jab canceling into Dtilt =), just try to remember that they can powershield it so you need to mix up jab cancels with Ftilt, DownB, Utilt and doing the full jab, that way they don't learn the timing and punish.

Just watch your defences more, don't chase the opponant when they can punish you for it. Running into good opponants with dash grabs and Usmashes doesn't work if you don't set them up for it.
Trust Meta to post the vid where you get screwed over lol.

Just another day.
My video thread has my newer matches uploaded. I don't feel like posting them here cause I'm really lazy atm, but if anyone would like to give tips, then feel free to post them on that thread.

I have what might be a new AT for Yoshi. I haven't seen it yet so I'm hoping it's "new" Here are two videos of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si1-YKU0Yuw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR1GGbUXxUw

Basically, I'm jumping, double jumping (while during the double jump, I smash the control stick in the opposite direction I'm facing), and then neutral-B. the distance you move is similar to the Draconic Reverse. Based on my success ratio with it, this seems to be much easier to do. However, I don't know what separates when you reverse your direction and when you don't. The thing I'm trying to do is not reverse the direction, but if anyone has frame data on it or can tell me how to switch between the two (like B-reversals and B-reversals + momentum reversing) I'd be much obliged. I'm gonna make a thread about it to further the discussion but let me know what you guys think about it and if you have any questions.

Sry, but this has been known. It just hasn't been talked about as much as of late. Also, it's not nearly as tough as DR, but it requires a different type of techskill to master all the possible ways with it.

Well, do you know how to switch between the reversal of direction and just the momentum change? I know with the B-reversal if you hit the control stick before you do the neutral B then you'll continue going the same direction and if you hit the control stick immediately afterwards then you'll reverse your momentum as well as turning around. With this, I'm doing both of them while hitting the control stick before the egg-lay so I don't know what separates the two other than possibly frame input.

Well, now you're getting into the complicated things about egglay; a reason why I haven't been able to master it. You have the double jump properties, but then it breaks down into two different ways from there:

Wavebouncing (changing momentum)
Reversal (just turning around and keeping momentum)

When you wavebounce, you're slamming the control stick in the direction you want the momentum to go just after you inputted the egglay. For the reversal, you have to input the direction you want to turn, then input the egglay. Both get really hard and finessely technical when you need to do it really quick.

Ok; I knew that was the case when you do a normal reversal (no double jump). I guess I assumed that I was wavebouncing while hitting the control stick beforehand so that's why I was confused. But I just tested it with the double jump thrown in there as well and I am inputting it after the egg lay.

Alright, thanks for clarifying things for me. I use the normal reversals without the double jump a LOT in my game but I've found that this one is faster so I'll try to incorporate it.

Yeah, defense has always been my weak point, but I really don't care about these matches. They were just friendlies and, if I remember correctly, DC forced me to use Yoshi or else he wouldn't play with me. I wanted to practice Diddy.

Don't understand why Metatitan has it in for me, though. Must be the Bellsprout.

Anyways, new videos of me vs. Serg! And these are tournament matches!

Poltergust vs. Bowser 1
Poltergust vs. Bowser 2
Poltergust vs. Bowser 3 (funniest edge-guard ever in the first stock, but I failed to follow through =P)

Bowser has a hilarious falling animation. I love how excited the commentator got at the very end for Yoshi vs. Bowser.

Afro was commentating. He should have commentated more during our matches, but I believe he was doing a match of his own until the middle of the second game.

Pretty good a few things:
You were predictable in a lot of things, especially your egg lays. In general, you were playing pretty straight foward most of the time, altho pretty darn well.
You kinda usmashed too much. Also, you made quite a bit of completely unsafe attacks on bowsers shield (like down airing at the end of the 3rd match), which is very not good :p

Nicely done on lots of stuff though, you seemed to space pretty well, you forced him into a lot of grabs, and your edgeguard with eggs for like 50% was priceless :p

Lol egg lay is not that complicated. You double jump in the direction you want to go and before pressing B you press the direction you want to face.

finessely technical. Have you mastered all the different ways egg lay can be used? If not, then you can't judge that it's not that simple unless you DO the simple ****.

I use pretty much every use of egg lay I can think of, double jump canceled and no double jump at all

Vs. Kismet:

Try recovering higher. You were killed offstage bairs all three times in game 1 as you egg tossed too close to him. You can also SDI into the stage and tech the CG-to-spike, which will put you in a better position than having to cancel the spike with your DJ.

Vs. Will_:

Why did you stop the CGs after only one regrab, if you even regrabbed once at all? When you grab released him onto a platform, both as DK (4:22) and MK (0:45, 1:06), he was just waiting for you in his shield. You could have egg layed or FH daired.

I only watched vs kismet.
You should have beaten him reeeaally badly lol. Firstly, why would you randomly nair his shield and land in front of him. Thats not a very effective way of not getting grabbed. Secondly, you can attack on the way up if hes not gonna down air, besides, uair beats it. You did some nice offensive moves, but where are those gimps. I counted 5 times (maybe i missed some too) where he would've and shouldve been gimped. When he side b's over the ledge, do a running grab, you grab him out of him, release, and edgehog the up b, or GRS. Dont double jab the front of someones shield ever.
Thats all i think.
