CAPSLOCK

I was not very happy to set up Melee as the first tournament, as Brawl was supposed to be finished first so all Brawl setups could be converted to Brawl+ and be played in tandem with Melee setups. I did this to accommodate some players who really wanted it early.
CAPSLOCK I had the venue rented for 11 hours just in case, but somehow the Melee players managed to eat up more than 4 hours before we even started because some how an unpaid SSF4 tournament was more important to them. If I'm going to wait for you, then you better have a good reason for it.
CAPSLOCK I'm sorry, but Melee seems to be a game that causes too much trouble to run, I don't have a copy for my own setup, hell you need a completely different game disk unlike +. I'm sorry, but if you're asking if I remove my favorite game from a tournament that I tried to place it in, you're mistaken. If you're going to ask me to make suggestions to the TO, please not try to enrage him or her in the process.
CAPSLOCK take that very close to literally, I don't mind excitement and screaming when something amazing happens, but don't be hopping, screaming, and throwing crap across the room every single second.
Honestly, just stop talking to me. You're way too condescending and arrogant. I don't need people IMing me for six hours and being a **** the whole time.

protip: don't leave money sitting around on tables. I kept an eye on it for everyone because random people were coming in/out.

So pretty much a couple weekends this summer I'm going to have to spend an entire weekend up in Rochester with you kids. **** was so epic.
Dude, you made me so sad playing you last night because you just looked really sad when we played. I was legitimately like, sad playing you. Don't be so sad when we play man lol.

ATTENTION: ALL MELEE PLAYERS

Dude, you're not right, and no one else is right. This is not a right or wrong issue. The big problem is the fact that this is your first time running a tournament, and you're not familiar with the community. If you'd been to more events, you'd know 2 things. First, we all know each other and we're always screaming and doing crazy things . Second, we socialize and play lots of friendlies and take a lot of time. This is not a national tournament bro, we don't need to be rushed like crazy. We're all friends and despite the fact that we do appreciate that you ran the tourney, we're pretty much going to keep acting how we've been acting for years now.

Honestly dude, if you're planning on running another tournament, and you expect it to be how you envision it with everyone wanting to play Brawl + instead of Melee, and having everyone not act crazy and not taking so long...Then I wouldn't bother running any more tournies man. It's just the way things are. That being said, I think it's awesome that you ran the tourney in the first place.

so glad i haven't met this kid yet. melee players are adults and we can do what we want.: **** who we want, smoke what we want, act like monkeys if we want
Word.

Also, as news to everyone...I'm thinking about hosting a gigantic tournament this summer at some point. Just to let you all know lol.

Honorable mentions:

K.I.D.Goggles :ganondorf: :drmario: (Rochester) Asked to be removed from the list, due to his growing disdain for the game.

Dudutsai :jigglypuff: (Binghamton) Asked to be removed from the list to avoid stagnating his game.

Goodies :peach: (Rochester): Retired, but still one of the most knowledgable and skilled players in the region.

Foy :random: (Rochester) Our lovable loser, He has a new main for every tournament, talks insane amounts of junk (as per Rochester tradition) and loses consistently to zelda. The mascot of NYS melee.

Pinpoint :fox: (Rochester) Think Foy, but losing to Zelda, AND Roy...

Pyro :roymelee: :fox: :zelda: (Rochester/New Jersey) The zelda and roy that foy and pinpoint lose to. Only VERY VERY closely missed the cut for this edition of the list.

4 things.

1.) As much as i love kelvin, he shouldnt be on the PR Honorable mentions. He was the mentor. he should be at 0) for melee.

2.) I havent lost to Pyro in forever.

3.) Stop being a ****ign ****** and put you and dudu on the list. its inaccurate as it is cause you suck at PRing and + without you and him the list looks ****ed up.

4.) Ian came back for one tournament and got on the list. Are you kidding me.

And since everyone is being honest and what not.

I love you all. I don't care what game you play. Brawl, Melee, Street Fighter, Pong, Stick fighting. Doesn't matter. We are all in the community cause we either love the game or love the competition. Over the last few months that i have been back from Cali I've seen the Upstate community grow and flourish. Even with everyone being angry and being *****es yesterday it was still fun.

Long story short, we all might be smash bros, but you are all bros in my heart.

Awww.

Honestly though, yeah. Yesterday was rough. Everyone seemed really frustrated and really not on their best game. Could have been a bad mix of hangovers, weather, rivalries, and general frustration.

@Jesse, I wasn't really sad when I was playing, I just knew the matches wouldn't be good because I wasn't on my game. Last week, though, before I left Sunday morning, best Melee I have ever played, and I was just upset at not being able to replicate it.

I'm thinking this summer we should have a Smashfest/outdoor barbecue, idk how that'd work but we've made crazier **** happen before.

Maybe... just around the time of

I would like to put my opinion on this issue.

ATTENTION: ALL MELEE PLAYERS

1. I was not very happy to set up Melee as the first tournament, as Brawl was supposed to be finished first so all Brawl setups could be converted to Brawl+ and be played in tandem with Melee setups. I did this to accommodate some players who really wanted it early.
1. We understand your love for brawl + However the Brawl + Event had more players then the brawl singles event and as the melee singles event. Most of this was due to the fact that the other 2 events were placed before brawl. As a TO You have to place events in order by majority vote for a successful tournament. Majority wanted melee first so it happen the way it should have.

2. DON'T MAKE ME WAIT FOR YOU I had the venue rented for 11 hours just in case, but somehow the Melee players managed to eat up more than 4 hours before we even started because some how an unpaid SSF4 tournament was more important to them. If I'm going to wait for you, then you better have a good reason for it.
2. As a TO you have the option to wait or begin without players. You agreed to allowing time for other players to come so i really don't understand why this^^ was said. And due to the lack of attendance is very important for you to allow time for all players to show up. As for the ssf4 tournament holding up melee players i can understand that being an issue and dqing them (minh) is understandable. But im pretty sure minh wasnt to disappointed by it hes pretty chill. Also never say "DON'T MAKE ME WAIT FOR YOU" In no way should you ever put yourself above other people. Were a community not a dictatorship a TO is nothing with out the players.

3. RESPECT YOUR T.O. I'm sorry, but Melee seems to be a game that causes too much trouble to run, I don't have a copy for my own setup, hell you need a completely different game disk unlike +. I'm sorry, but if you're asking if I remove my favorite game from a tournament that I tried to place it in, you're mistaken. If you're going to ask me to make suggestions to the TO, please not try to enrage him or her in the process.
3. After the statement in regards to the melee players im pretty sure you've lost alot of respect. Give respect to get respect, as simple as that.

Melee is no more difficult to run than brawl. and Brawl +. If i do recall it took you a good 15-20 mins to set up brawl + on 1 set up. Like before i understand your love for brawl +. But you cant let it make you bias in your decisions or statements. I myself am mainly brawl. But i usualy enter all events for the sake of the community an because i love smash in general. Though im mainly brawl i would never hate on any other game or any other portion of the community. Games aside were all there for 1 reason and thats to hang out and have fun.

Having said that. No one should ask you to take brawl + off the tournament, but nor should you disrespect melee and its players or take it off any tournament you plan on hosting.

4. THIS IS NOT AN EXHIBIT TO ACT LIKE MONKEYS take that very close to literally, I don't mind excitement and screaming when something amazing happens, but don't be hopping, screaming, and throwing crap across the room every single second.
Hype is unavoidable rather its playing smash, or even watching a football game. People cant help it when they get excited and i love when they express it. Not only does it show support for players in regions but it also give that rivalry push that makes competitive smash so much fun. Trash talking is great because no one truely means it.

However i do feel the issue between foy and goggles has gotten a lil out of hand and hopefully everything can be worked out accordingly!

Last but not least.

Everyone in the community should learn to respect each other no matter what game we prefer or play most.

I felt like diversifying =P I will whole-heartedly support anything and everything that lives in the sea.

What he said, smashers don't like being controlled really, and there isn't much use in trying unless it's a super serious event. Anything set up like this should just be a big community effort that everyone can have fun with =D

I think the tio file is the tournament organizer's file format. Not the best way to run it, but this was small, so a results thread is kind of overkill, and if you want the small-*** brackets, I'll try and put it as a picture later.

Rise from the ashes pt 2

Recycling the thread for next weekend's ****. GET HYPE. We'll have god****ed AIR CONDITIONING this time. But, I want lots of confirmation and input, because I'd rather not decide things for myself and lose interest. Most importantly, I want confirmations for attendance! I'm only going to commit to doubles once we get a big enough crowd, so if you want doubles, make SURE you make a note of it.

Holy **** I really need to stop getting home so late from these things, I'm so ****ing tired right now lol

Few things:

Slashy awesome job finding a venue on such short notice.

I agree that if people vote for melee first, then melee players should show up early. Without an official start time for the event though, people will take their time and do other stuff if they feel like it. Since everything was set up so last minute, the fact that all of these events happened at all is amazing.

Goggles ***** me hard. My **** still hurts from that.

B+ is actually really really fun. I'm glad that I finally got a chance to try it, and I hope we have more B+ at future events, at least a friendlies setup if no side event.

This weekend was mad fun, and I really wish I didn't live so far away :p

I've played Brawl+ before, my cousin has it setup and we play whenever he's in town from college (Lives on campus but visits home). I'm glad they did make some changes to it, the original version of Brawl+ I played was made SOLELY for Falcon, it was ridiculous. Oh, and...last match vid I have up!

Zhenkai (Fox) vs Jordan (Marth/Ganondorf) Matches 6, 7 and 8

Also, from my future paychecks, I'mma start savin' up some money to make it to tourneys in the summer. Bills have been hitting me hard so I couldn't save early, but I'll definately be having a stock of cash to make it to one of these sometime. Until then, more Melee practice. XD

Pretty fun tournament. Air conditioning was a huge plus. Sry i didn't make it to the melee tourney but uh i didnt actually sign up, apparently some1 signed me up for it. I did end up winning the Stick Fighter tourney tho :chuckle:.

Yesterday was pretty hectic with events in RIT. Imagine RIT, street fighter tourney, and the smash ones too. Wished doubles were around so we could smash more but it still pretty fun.

Yo real sry for making u the designated driver Nitro. Hoped u had a fun time anyways.

We need to compile a list of open weekends over the summer so we can try and organize the summer tourneys.

That... and who's gonna stay around here over the summer.
