I would like to put my opinion on this issue.
ATTENTION: ALL MELEE PLAYERS
1. I was not very happy to set up Melee as the first tournament, as Brawl was supposed to be finished first so all Brawl setups could be converted to Brawl+ and be played in tandem with Melee setups. I did this to accommodate some players who really wanted it early.
1. We understand your love for brawl + However the Brawl + Event had more players then the brawl singles event and as the melee singles event. Most of this was due to the fact that the other 2 events were placed before brawl. As a TO You have to place events in order by majority vote for a successful tournament. Majority wanted melee first so it happen the way it should have.
2. DON'T MAKE ME WAIT FOR YOU I had the venue rented for 11 hours just in case, but somehow the Melee players managed to eat up more than 4 hours before we even started because some how an unpaid SSF4 tournament was more important to them. If I'm going to wait for you, then you better have a good reason for it.
2. As a TO you have the option to wait or begin without players. You agreed to allowing time for other players to come so i really don't understand why this^^ was said. And due to the lack of attendance is very important for you to allow time for all players to show up. As for the ssf4 tournament holding up melee players i can understand that being an issue and dqing them (minh) is understandable. But im pretty sure minh wasnt to disappointed by it hes pretty chill. Also never say "DON'T MAKE ME WAIT FOR YOU" In no way should you ever put yourself above other people. Were a community not a dictatorship a TO is nothing with out the players.
3. RESPECT YOUR T.O. I'm sorry, but Melee seems to be a game that causes too much trouble to run, I don't have a copy for my own setup, hell you need a completely different game disk unlike +. I'm sorry, but if you're asking if I remove my favorite game from a tournament that I tried to place it in, you're mistaken. If you're going to ask me to make suggestions to the TO, please not try to enrage him or her in the process.
3. After the statement in regards to the melee players im pretty sure you've lost alot of respect. Give respect to get respect, as simple as that.
Melee is no more difficult to run than brawl. and Brawl +. If i do recall it took you a good 15-20 mins to set up brawl + on 1 set up. Like before i understand your love for brawl +. But you cant let it make you bias in your decisions or statements. I myself am mainly brawl. But i usualy enter all events for the sake of the community an because i love smash in general. Though im mainly brawl i would never hate on any other game or any other portion of the community. Games aside were all there for 1 reason and thats to hang out and have fun.
Having said that. No one should ask you to take brawl + off the tournament, but nor should you disrespect melee and its players or take it off any tournament you plan on hosting.
4. THIS IS NOT AN EXHIBIT TO ACT LIKE MONKEYS take that very close to literally, I don't mind excitement and screaming when something amazing happens, but don't be hopping, screaming, and throwing crap across the room every single second.
Hype is unavoidable rather its playing smash, or even watching a football game. People cant help it when they get excited and i love when they express it. Not only does it show support for players in regions but it also give that rivalry push that makes competitive smash so much fun. Trash talking is great because no one truely means it.
However i do feel the issue between foy and goggles has gotten a lil out of hand and hopefully everything can be worked out accordingly!
Last but not least.
Everyone in the community should learn to respect each other no matter what game we prefer or play most.
