Upstate New York Tournament Thread

[RTF]

Idea/draft: Take the paths from weather phenomena and put some identifier (character icons, avatar, w/e) of the player at the end (think street fighter). Ideally, those not on the PR would be Tropical Storm Tier (not landing anywhere), Some names/tags either don't have a nice hurricane/storm name, or weren't found. I tried to go for EC stuff so it'd be easier to compile on a map, but with a lot of ambition we could get everything to fit this tiered list. *Queues music* Presenting...

So I just found out there's a tourney in DC tomorrow, held by some gaming company or what. MGC.

Anyways, besides having some goofy counterpicks, (Luigi's mansion, get at my uptilt) something amused me quite explosively.

Ledge grab rule- For meta knights only. The TO can use it to kick your entire set, too. In a single-elim tourney.

So what, grab the ledge too many times as a Meta-Knight & you lose? It's extremely biased, but it's definitely amusing.

There're places that run this rule on everyone, but MK's planking is merciless. I'm all for it.

It's pretty sweet. It's basically a way (albeit a backhand way) of trying to get people to play something other than Meta-Knight, which I guess is good for the metagame. Instead of banning him, making him appeal less appealing by giving him extra baggage essentially accomplishes the same thing, or at least will deter less devoted MK's from playing as him. But I think Mew2King said in that interview with MLG how MK's game got advanced years beyond everyone else since everyone plays him so freaking much. So yeah, definitely a good idea.

I seriously do like that rule. MK's speed & priority wreck Ness in the air. >_>

If there isn't anything close/related to the smasher's name or tag, I guess all of the unused ones are up from grabs. I'd like to give people closest to the names priority though. Regarding all of the Matts: Cura > the rest in brawl and plays melee pretty well, too. He also hosts fests, so props and first dibs to him.

1. try other levels of cpu, they do different things. talk to mana about it. he knows everything there is to know about cpu practicing.

Minh/Cura stomp us out at that game. Last time I played minh, i told him how to do kens infinite on me and he figured out the timing for it within 20 seconds and gayed me hard.

I will find out this week. Either way, I will very likely have a vehicle for APEX, but it will not be van sized if White Lightning gets totaled.

EDIT: I repaired my controller and played Foy last night. Ask him about the flashes of beat mode I was getting. **** was so nasty.

In what game have i ever mained a top tier? Link Melee, Lucas Brawl, Ken SF, Ken Guile ? MVC.

high tiers often have lots of automatic or easy kill moves/combo moves or low comboability. whereas low tiers will generally be weaker in one of those areas. from experience, Roy has kill moves, no combo moves, and high comboability. marth has kill moves, combo moves, and low comboability. link has kill moves, some combo moves, and high comboability.

point being, low tiers often require you to find other things to make up for their lack of one of those things they're missing. generally it's just trying to hit with their good moves.

Unless you are ********, Marth gets combo'd hard. The only characters with real low comboability are Jiggs, Luigi, and Samus, and only one of those is a relevant match-up, and thank God everyone has like two hit follow ups on her.
