Don't be.

Watching Daigo play MvC3 isn't much that's special. He's pretty much just another guy with good execution who plays a Wolverine/Akuma team. I haven't really seen much from him that's groundbreaking or near perfect like you'd normally see when you watch him play SF.

My friend who I only taught the bare basics of the game to beat my entire team with level 3 x-factor dark phoenix. All he did was spam cr. L and shoot fireballs. **** MvC man. I am getting tired of attacking with she-hulk and having her moves get beat out by hulk and sentinel super armor when I CLEARLY attacked first, then lose half my health for it

This probably makes the most sense out of anything I've read in this thread.

1. Way to state the ****ing obvious. Your medal is at the bottom of a lake. Hold on to this cinder block, you'll be able to get it faster that way.
2. Flight is a really terrible way of running away in this game since it lasts for all of 2 seconds. If you're going to try to time out someone you should just use Spencer (as you said) or Spiderman since they have better mobility options than flight. And really, teleport characters would be better than flying characters since they can still get away fairly quickly.
3. Of the characters who can fly or teleport, the best one is Phoenix, so...
4. You don't see a problem with a character who you need to consistently time out in order to beat? You don't think this says anything about balance issues and problems in the game?

Besides, I hate timing people out when I'm not playing Spiral. At least timing people out with the Spiral trap takes some executional skill. Timing people out just by running away and blocking well doesn't really take any skills besides blocking well, which you should already know how to do.

Also, only reason I don't fight Phoenix is because of X Factor Dark Phoenix, I'd be more than happy to smack her into DP form if she doesn't have X Factor.

How to fight Phoenix:

Actually, I've found that Captain America is a surprisingly good anti-Phoenix character. Not necessarily Dark Phoenix, but I have problems with him.

If your opponent is anything like the 95% of phoenix users they will try to super jump fireball you till they have 5 bars.

My answer to that is super jump Hard Drive.

What's this? Phoenix can teleport behind Sent and hit him plenty fast enough to interrupt his not-invincible-on-start-up supers?

>_> Yeah. I think you're forgetting about how fast c.lp comes out. That attack will stuff just about any attempt at retaliation when a Phoenix teleports behind you. You're better off trying to use the super armor on Sentinel's c.hp, but by no means is even that assured. The Phoenix may hit you for pressing buttons period or, if she's Dark Phoenix, the feathers from her crouching Magic Series might trade in a way where you wouldn't be able to follow up with the launcher.

It all boils down to prediction and who presses buttons faster in that moment, but generally, using a random super as she teleports is a bad idea. You don't want to waste meter against a Phoenix player like that.

This isn't true at all, especially if the Phoenix has just been snapped in. Smart players will zone with air fireballs as much as they can so that they can get an opening to raw tag to another character on their team. Also, did you forget that Phoenix can teleport in the air and get to the ground safely before the Hard Drive super hits?

this sent guy above me is wrong , he believes sent does okay again against a character. rofl, top 20 players destroy sent and has the worst matchups i have seen. sent vs ammy = sheik vs dk.

the ***** aka phoenix is easily one of the best characters by herself. pray that once you snapped her you mixed her and killed her, thats your only hope. ( or chip with zero super xfactor super and dhc super to sent to chip kill like me, )

logan is hilarious easy. but so good rush down, however i believe zero, dorm, ammy and maybe x23 and destroy this. i know zero for sure can. there might be other characters but i only play 3,

talk about dante for chirst sake, like how many acid rain loops you can do on a kids 9th lord hulk instead of logan.

I knew from the moment I saw early gameplay videos of Dark Phoenix that she was essentially this game's Strider. Strider, for those who didn't play MvC2 like you should have, was Sentinel's kryptonite in that game. Strider had a fairly simple infinite on Sentinel, teleport mixups to pressure him (Sentinel was just as bad at escaping pressure situations in MvC2 as MvC3), and Ouroboros to ensure complete global saturation that Sentinel would take absurd amounts of chip damage. Seriously, just watch cl0ckwork MvC2 matches and you'll see how much Sentinel players struggle against Strider.

You know what else is a decent Phoenix counter? Switching Sentinel out for someone better suited to deal with her.

It's pretty sad capcom listened to all the crying scrubs when they nerfed Sents HP for no reason. He really needs that health back.

While phoenix vs sent is pretty bad, simply speaking from experience the whole phoenix teleporting behind sentinel and hitting him during before the HSF starts up? Fat chance imo; I don't think I've ever been hit out of it.

Also, sentinel's air normals go through projectiles... that can be pretty useful. If phoenix is trying to zone from the air, a WD up super jump forward air medium/heavy can go nearly full screen in an instant. If phoenix gets touched she's obviously done, so this is pretty useful for sentinel. Phoenix's teleports are ridiculously dangerous vs sentinel because of long lasting hitboxes with super armor like his crM; phoenix can usually get away with random mashing to save herself against most people because of the feathers from her normals... that doesn't work against sentinel because his super armor isn't based on the number of hits. Instead, his super armor is active for a certain number of frames.

I usually don't mind having just sentinel at the end to fight DP in xfactor, assuming she has *already started her xfactor*. If her xfactor is already like 1/4 gone by the time sentinel comes in, if I can manage to put myself in the corner and xfc to negate chip damage, I usually come out on top. Things like heavy drones (the ones that drop bombs) can effectively counter all her teleports, especially because I can cancel them into super, and as soon as she runs out of xfc she autodies to any random spits for chip damage. Her only tricky thing if you have yourself cornered is her standing overhead... which is possible to react to, even in level 3 xfc.

Yeah its bad, but sentinel has the tools to at least deal with it...I wish sentinel didn't suck though >_>

I have to agree with the above comments though, the only real use I've found for Sentinel is his drones assist and even that isn't as good as what it used to be because people just listen for the Sent call and punish accordingly. Additionally, drones assist is almost useless against Magneto, one of the most commonly used characters.
