1. Bethesda (I think while the pool of character is shallow, the results would be pretty interesting.)
2. Sega (a huge name in gaming wuth tons of potential for newcomers wuth a few that’s VGA worthy)
1. Falcom (don’t know what this company is but I’m interested)

Sorry to go off-topic, but something like this for Mario Kart would be perfect.
Interesting. Not sure if I'll participate or not but if we're branching the idea out doing one for a new Playstation Allstars would be quite fun
Thosr would be interesting. Sadly, two active threads is currently my max but I would be supportive if helmed by someone else :)

I would totally want to start one (SEGA vs FOX, anyone?), but school is pretty unpredictable, even more so with in person classes starting up in April. But once Summer comes around I'll try my best to do something like that.

1. Ubisoft: Has been buddy-buddy with Nintendo for far too long to not even has an assist trophy. Nintendo even allowed shared partnership with them for a full-retail game (Mario and Rabbids), and they are big in the gaming industry.
2. Koei-Tecmo: I don't know much about them, but it seems they have been long friends with Nintendo.
3. Square-Enix: They own Gex.

Bethesda would've been my number 2 but Venus politely asked not to self-vote and it seems other people aren't, so I'd just feel bad if I did.

1: Toby Fox. Undertale is hugely iconic, to the point where a Mii Costume based on one of its characters was considered a huge show-stopper. (Deltarune might also be nice, but given it hasn't been released yet, it's unfeasible since we don't know the full range of possibilities for movesets.)

2: Capcom. Honestly, Toby Fox is the only "company" listed I specifically WANT a rep for, but Capcom seems to have the best selection of the others. (I'd go with Zero because he's cool or Phoenix Wright because he'd be hilarious myself.)

3: Marvelous! ...Pretty much just because of Travis. (I almost went with Square Enix for Neku Sakuraba, but he has some stiff competition among his company. Travis would stand a much better chance of winning against other Marvelous! properties.)

Now with that, we will decide which series to base the newcomer from. Capcom is unique as it has tons of franchises but also these franchises have plenty of characters to draw from.

Job #68: Submit a Capcom Franchise to Pick a Fighter From

We will be choosing a Capcom newcomer but, first, we will be submitting and then voting which franchise it will be in order to get some new faces and interesting picks.

Please indicate which franchise you are submitting, why it deserves to be in Smash, and a brief history of that franchise with Nintendo. Please avoid focusing on a single character to gain support, especially for franchises with many potential characters. This is understandable though for franchises like Ghouls n Ghosts and Strider though.

Mega Man and Street Fighter submissions are permissible. Mega Man X and other Mega Man games other than the original can be included within the Mega Man umbrella.

Ace Attorney is also permissible despite being next in line in case Crash gets selected for Fighter’s Pass 2. In that case, if Ace Attorney is voted on, we will move onto the third place. If we don’t decide on Phoenix but Crash gets included, then we will move to third place pick and put Phoenix into DLC consideration

Job 68: Ace Attorney

Ace Attorney is a visual novel series that originated on the Game Boy Advance. Throughout its lifespan, it has been a staple series on Nintendo handhelds and the Wii. The game focuses on Phoenix Wright, a fledgling lawyer who works his way into the law. He defends his opponents from the ruthless legal system until he too falls from grace. Apollo Justice takes the helms in the fourth game, using his tell detection to bring Phoenix back into the fray. From now on, the franchise focuses on its three main characters, Phoenix, Apollo, and Athena while also having spinoffs based on Phoenix's ancestor Ryuunosuke and Phoenix's rival Miles Edgeworth.

Ace Attorney is renowned in its genre. When one thinks of visual novels and mystery video games, it is Ace Attorney or D*nganronpa. If selected, the character could have a very interesting moveset based on investigations and evidence collection as well as the trial phase. Most importantly, the music is unbelievably high energy for high stakes legal action. Thus, vote for Ace Attorney.

Monster Hunter is one of Capcom’s most successful franchises; both in its home country of Japan and in the West. Monster Hunter’e popularity in Japan is on par with that of Dragon Quest which is saying a lot as the series is almost a cultural heritage. Monster Hunter’s relationship with Nintendo isn’t as strong as other series like Mega Man, Ace Attorney, Okami, and more but there have been notable games published such as Monster Hunter Tri, Monster Hunter 4, and the more recent, Rise. Infinite already has Monster Hunter content in the form of Rathalos and music so why allow the series to be swept away yet again when we can do it justice and finally add it into the game by including a playable character.

Okami is probably a great game due to how beautiful the art style and graphics are making this one of the most popular Capcom games. With Amaterasu herself being in Marvel vs Capcom as a fighter, she would be nice to see in Smash Infinite which would be cool.

Edit: Never mind, I don't want that mongrel in.

Also keep in mind that characters who meet these qualifications are disqualified for this submission:
  1. An animal character
  2. A character attributed to the color white
  3. A character who summons other characters
  4. A character who uses rhythm in battle
  5. A character who uses timed input attacks
I think this would axe Ammy due to being both white and an animal. the same animal in fact since Barista and Ammy are both dogs. (I would support Ammy otherwise though).

It’s Game Awards Show Time. We will begin Submitting a 3rd Party Character but before that...

Job #68: Submit a Third Party Company for us to Submit a Newcomer From

Like how we submitted franchises previously for the first party newcomer, we will submit a third party company to submit a newcomer from to reveal at the Game Awards Show. This includes companies such as Ubisoft, Capcom, Sega, etc. Once we decide on the company, we will then submit a character from that company. There are a few rules though:

  1. The character must have an moderately established relationship with Nintendo. This means having more than just two games on a Nintendo system. Companies like Rockstar, Valve, Sony PlayStation Studios, etc.
  2. Activision is not available as we already have Crash as a newcomer
  3. To become our roster varied, the following character properties won’t be permitted for this character submission. This doesn’t mean they can’t be submitted in future jobs.
    1. An animal character
    2. A character attributed to the color white
    3. A character who summons other characters
    4. A character whi uses rhythm in battle
    5. A character who uses timed input attacks
This character will be appearing alongside a third-party echo fighter in a joint trailer. That being said, the third-party echo fighter will be based on a current veteran fighter and not on Crash or the newcomer we vote on so please keep this in mind.

When submitting, please ineifiate the company, why this company deserves a character in Smash, a brief history of the relationship between the Big N and the company, and finally what games they have published on a Nintendo system. Please don’t ineifiate which characters could theoretically appear as it may skew results.
Krook, is correct. Due to too many similarities to Barista, Amaterasu is technically out of the running.

Well that's not fair...

Resident Evil is one of Capcoms premier series. Selling very well across both the east and west. With most of it's games being on the switch and a ton of potential characters to chose from, with a number of them being well known in the gaming world, Resident Evil would be a perfect pick for a place like the game awards. It would also give us our first fighter from the horror genre which is at the moment unrepped in smash

List of Characters | MMKB | Fandom

Mega Man is a classic series that already has a character in Smash, but there's still more who could be added. It has all the benefits of a rotating cast (multiple characters who can be considered main characters) and a series with a consistent cast (they are still well developed). Notable characters include X (who has 8 games of his own), Zero (who has 8 games as a side character and four as a main character), Dr. Wily (the main antagonist of the 12 classic games), and Tron Bonne (who got her own spinoff game and a slot in MVC3).

Too similar? TOO SIMILAR!?

If Smash has Marth clones, three Links, two Marios which are all similar to each other, why can't Amaterasu be in!? She's a wolf, Barista is a dog, she has paint powers, he uses rhythm... I don't get it!?
(I don't want to get angry at you.)

The main issue is less the similarites in general, but moreso just revealing the two similar characters back to back from one another.

I’m not opposed to Amaterasu not getting in. Far from it actually but, like Smashing Ramen said, not right next to Barista. The order the characters are voted and revealed is the same order they are numbered and my intention is to keep these varied in regardless to how they look in the roster. I would totally be down to include Ammy later in the game or, perhaps, as DLC.

Capcom Series

Devil May Cry is a popular videogame series where Satan might be sad or something, IDK I haven't played it. But many of the characters have lots of weapons they could use, and like Bayonetta, you could really make them a fighter with flashy combos and attacks, hailing from their action game roots.

Ghost Trick

OK, I gotta be honest, I know nothing about this series but I remember seeing my sister play it when I was younger and thought it looked cool. From what I can tell it's quite the cult classic and got shining reviews across the board, and it's only instalment was initially released on the DS before iOS. Ghost Trick would serve as representation for the very under-utilised puzzle genre, and a ghost/afterlife-themed fighter or even stage is undeniably a very unique concept

Street Fighter

The grandfather of modern day fighting games, Street Fighter still has more than it's fair share of potential notable cannidates to pick from. The series has two in Smash as is, but they're no more than semi-clones of each other. Plus Smash is a fighting game, so it's seem only fitting that a fighting game could get some more love here. Not to mention their movesets are essentially already premade, so it'd be fairly easy to transition characters over.

Final Fight

Final Fight is a Beat-em-up made by capcom. This game is considered one of the best beat-em-ups and has an iconic cast of characters that have made their way into Street Fighter, and while there has not been a Final Fight game since the launch of "Final Fight: Streetwise" the legacy of Final Fight continues to this day. Final Fight is pretty much a Nintendo console series as all the games with the exception of Streetwise and Revenge have released on Some Nintendo console.

Capcom's Franchise

Sengoku Basara

This series is pretty much Capcom's own spin on the Musou genre without actually needed the help of Koei-Tecmo themselves. The scenario is loosely based on feudal Japan with all characters takes inspiration from japanese historical figure like Nobunaga Oda, Masamune Date and so much more. While the series itself has been compared to KT's Samurai Warriors to death and even overshadowed by Capcom's other series nonetheless, Capcom pretty much still acknowledge it with the popularity not only from Japan but also parts of East and Southeast Asia as the series itself has received 4 anime adaptation, a movie, a card game and even numerous stage plays. So, if you want a representation that appeal towards Asia then this series is probably perfect.

Darkstalkers_The_Night_Warriors_Logo.png

It's no secret. You've seen these characters before. Morrigan, Demitri, Jon Talbain, Jedah, etc... The list goes on and on. But have you ever heard of a niche series called Darkstalkers?

Alright. Enough jesting. It's obvious that these characters are more popular than their own series, by appearing in more Capcom crossover games than their own. With Morrigan even being crowned as Ms. Crossover herself. Though that begs the question, why isn't she, or any Darkstalker character for that matter, in the biggest gaming crossover of all time?

Darkstalkers has a legacy of its own despite only having 3 numbered games under its belt. The series was created in the mid-90's as Capcom's next step in the fighting game genre, right after beating the dead horse known as Street Fighter II. The seemingly endless updates and revisions of the same game had become a running gag amongst the fighting game community and they certainly (at the time) didn’t have any plans to make the jump to Street Fighter III just yet. And so they came up with the idea to just, you know, create more Fighting Game series! (yay)

Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors hit the arcades in 1994 and it was amazing. On the surface, it was a Street Fighter clone, but it was different enough to stand on its own. It introduced air-blocking and EX attacks. The animation made Street Fighter II look stiff in comparison and everything was beaming with personality. Each character was distinct and popped with their mannerisms and unique animations.

Sure, the series is more than dead by now. And with fans already having given up hope for a Darkstalkers 4 ages ago, this seems less than likely. But Darkstalkers was known for its adorable and goofy cast of characters and Halloween-night-like atmosphere. And in my humble opinion, translating those into Smash would bring over something unique.

P.S.: I was hesitating between submitting this, Rival Schools and Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness. If anyone wants to do either of those, please go ahead.

alright, here's my new idea

Job 68: Marvel VS Capcom

now, I know what you're thinking, MvC is a crossover game! But if you remember in MvC2, they introduced a couple original fighters. Now I'm not sure how this would go over legal wise, perhaps we would have to exclusively refer to the series as "MvC" or "VS Capcom" to avoid Disney, but I think it'd be cool, and it would be a way to represent the prolific VS Capcom games

Capcom Franchise: Power Stone

Power Stone is one of Capcom's many, many fighting game franchises, but with a twist: Power Stone is a 3D fighter. However, rather than being your typical Tekken or arena fighter, Power Stone is more of a party game, with 4-way battles (in the sequel) and an emphasis on item use. It's kind of like the Smash Bros. of 3D fighters! With a diverse cast of colorful characters, Power Stone would make for an interesting inclusion.

I'd assume they just refer to it as "Vs Capcom" or something. And technically Marvel is far from the only thing they crossed over with. The likes of Tatsunoku and SNK also had their own VS Capcom fighters. It's pretty much it's own subset.
