I get the idea of hating console exclusivity, but man, Nintendo Platforms just aren't up to the modern power level of current gen consoles. There's no way they could run something like :insert current Spiderman game here: without either some severe drawbacks, or remaking the game ala the GBA/DS tie in game era.

I mean. Nintendo could be up to scale with current hardware power if they wanted to. it’s not a fact of the universe that Nintendo consoles have to be weak or else the sun will implode. They could change.

No, but it is a fact that if the Switch 2 was a handheld on par with the PS5, it would be too bulky and/or expensive.

I mean. My steam deck is pretty neat and it runs pretty much anything I try to play on it. Yeah it’s heavier and wider than the switch but it’s not that much worse.

The PS5 itself is pretty damn bulky, a portable console on par with it would barely count as portable.

To be fair, wasn't the Steam Deck sold at a loss? Like, to kickstart a proper market beyond just the Switch

A Steam Deck is also not on par with a PS5, if anything it's just above PS4 level.

I don't think a Steam Deck is on par specs wise with a PS5, that, and not every game that's on Steam is even compatible with it, the devs have to actually make it so.

If Nintendo wants to keep the portability aspect, sacrifices have to be made, and the portability is honestly one of their strong suits. They're not in the market of making a handheld and a home console anymore, they're a hybrid.


So sure, they could make a home console with current gen specs....

But that would probably kill it being portable.

We're already there, basically. Xbox has already given up, Playstation is leaning on PC at an exponential rate, and so long as nintendo is behind the curve on power they'll be easily emulated.

as someone who does not like PC gaming, it's dissapointing, but it is what it is. Glory to Steam and the obese old man who owns it.

Ideally you’d be able to play any game on any system and not just be forced to use steam.
