Okay I have a question, which of the Dancing blade finishers are best to kill with? Like can the forward thrust kill people at 100% while the downward thrust can kill at 150% and the upward thrust can kill at 130% or what?

The last upward hit tends to kill pretty well around 130 something on mid-weights. But you have to tipper it.

I wouldn't rely on DB to get kills.

I'm black, and my hair is cut in a flat top... lolz

Emblem Lord, does Marth have an advantage in the air against G&W? I can't figure out how to beat him with Meta... Would Marth be able to beat the turtle with his own aerials?

Generally you don't go air to air vs someone with a lingering hitbox because you would have to be perfect in your spacing in order to not get hit. The exception to this is Lucario since Marth outspeeds him.

If G&W abuses the turtle you should just swat him away with an f-tilt or f-smash.

Although you CAN go air to air vs G&W if you want. But you need to watch your spacing in this case.

PassWurD: LMAO!!!!

So, a perfectly spaced ftilt will beat the turtle approach?

How good, exactly, is this against other SH approaches?

I'll have to test this attack out some.

I mainly use f-tilt as anti SH approach tool. It's great for that since it travels in a nice wide arc.

@Emblem Lord, What do you think about Marths that rely more on offense than defense. I dont mean to run carelessly into a shield, obviously you need to react based on what the opponent does. I mean, after you get the opponent in the air, attacking them with aerials, even if a air dodge is coming. Or instead of baiting the opponent, to actually put a offense in. Many Marths I see will SH fair and Dtilt to approach until the opponent runs in. That is all they will do apart from dancing blade. When is best to start an offense? If they dont run in, what exactly should you do?

Kinzer: No, I can't say that I do. That cereal taste horrible to me.

I'm a much more defensive and patient Marth then any other Marth I have seen. I know how to be offensive, but I like to wait and bide my time until I see an opening and then I strike.

I do think that alot of Marth's get caught up in blind aggression and just go berserk with fairs and overextend themselves even when it will put them in a bad position or it's obvious that their opponent will airdodge.

It's important to have an understanding of when you should be aggressive and when you need to hold back. One must yield their power with restraint and know when to back off.

When I approach it's usually a dash into a shield cancelled d-tilt. Then when I am close enough I set-up my zoning. That's usually what I do If my opponent won't rush me. I love dash into shield alot since Marth is deadly when he is on defense. He punish pretty much anything even if it's well spaced.

The most important thing to remember is that when a match starts the situation is neutral. Meaning no one has advantage. Your opponent has their options and you have yours. The reason why you rely on pokes and being safe is to minimize risk and stage an offense without putting yourself in danger. When you overextend yourself and ignore spacing you put yourself in danger which gives your opponent an opening, which is bad.

Ultimately it all comes down to playing smart and trying to take control without putting yourself in danger. Of course there are times when you must take a risk, so in those situations you have to decide if the reward outweighs the risk.

How would you approach a Din's Fire spam?

You'd probably say airdodge since it's not often fanable, but I find that doing SH Airdodges don't work on it too well, since
1) it doesn't airdodge the instant you push the button
2) SH would shorten the airdodge time
3) Din's Fire's can be manipulated to burst at any time

A full hop airdodge messes up spacing and makes you very predictable, not only that, but you would also be giving advantage to Zelda's range in Usmash

So what would you think in this situation and how would you handle it?

SH airdodging is honestly the best method. And you still have complete control over your DI while it goes on.

It's really all you need. And make sure to pat attention to Zelda's movements. When she moves her arm that's when you airdodge.

Just practice the SH airdodge and you will be fine.

I have faced a really good Zelda in tourney and this method did not fail me. The Zelda player was RyokoYaksa in case you were wondering.

Nope.

He excels at all the fundamentals of this game.

Spacing, poking, being safe, having the options to deal with bad situations, safe kill moves, having a spammable move that the majority of the cast can't deal with, insane recovery, can't be edge guarded.

He is just...on a whole different level.

MK for banned tier!

What happens when the top 16 at big tourneys end up being all MKs?

Why did they take away shieldbreaker's 1 shot shield break at full charge? Why even call it shieldbreaker if it can't do that?

- Yay

- Smash competitiveness dies (as it is) completely. Some people are saying that either MK needs to be banned or items need to be brought into competitive play. Whatever...

- You best ask Sakurai that. I don't recall a fully charged shieldbreaker never NOT destroying anything it hits though...

You mentioned doing swordfighting when talking about Marth's (utterly atrocious) fsmash form, what style(s) of swordfighting do you do/have done?

Personally, I do fencing (saber), Kali (Filipino martial art, Kali sticks are stand-ins for short swords), and have some limited expirience with Ninjutsu's Kenjutsu.

Also, you've said that MK has the advantage over Snake before, so I'm just wondering, how come Snake players tend to beat MK players, hence Snake has the best tournament rankings right now? Is it just because the MK players aren't abusing certain aspects of their game?

MK is already at about the level of old Sagat, give it a few years for the metagame to mature, he may still be this good, he may not, we'll see.

That's when we know the world isn't fair. MK destroys my children.

Alright, two other questions -

MK. I would rather get punched in the face than waste my time losing to a good MK. The reason why is because it seems too easy to be gimped by just forcing you out of an airdodge with his fast attacks, and his air game is painful enough to send you off as soon as you get knocked off. My general question is, after you get knocked off the edge, what is the best option, or also, how can you protect yourself to get back on the ledge? That is one of my biggest problems.

Also, since you brought it up, do you have a religion?

The only Martial Arts I ever really took the time to learn was Tae Kwon Do. I have never actually studied sword play, but I find it interesting. Just from Marth's stance I could tell his f-smash went against the fundamentals of sword play.

Snake's beat MK's mostly because MK's play dumb and jump into the **** too much. Also I think MK vs Snake is pretty even or slight advantage to MK.

MK's should just be more patient. They rely too much on their Mach Tornado and less on waiting for openings which is what they should be doing.

When you got knocked off you need to be DIing up and towards the stage. So you can recover high. If you have to recover low then it's a gamble. If MK tries to attack you, then you can play through him with up b. But he may try to ledge drop and regain his invincibility or he way try to edgehug. In which case you could forward b stall then up b. But then he could just ledge drop dair.

Basically it's one huge 50/50 gamble whenever you come in low. You have to switch up what you do according to the MK's habits and what they are most likely to do according to your percent and thiers. An MK player is much less likely to try to gimp you with a dair when their percent is high simply because they could get stage spiked with an up b if they mess up. Keep these things in mind.

I am Atheist and Buddhist.

I just thought of something: how should Marth play in doubles? I know a large portion is dictated by his partner, but can you give a general overview? Also, supposing my partner is MK or Diddy, how should I play accordingly?

Wow, Smash really does get me to meet all kinds of people. I don't think that I've ever met any Buddhists before. That's pretty cool.

Hey then take it up man, it used to be that way for me, but actually doing it is so much more interesting. I think you'd love epee fencing. My personal favorite swordfighting style is Kali though.

You know... this really doesn't surprise me. Recently MK developed an incredibly effective AT, you might or might not have heard of it, but it it allows him to extend his invincibility frames for his down-b as long as he wants, and move with it. He can also do a (effectively) instant natural cape attack get out with minimal lag.

This tech has the potential to push MK into Akuma tier... but at FAST most of the MK's could've used it but weren't interested.

So, I don't think the MK boards are developing their game to anywhere near the level that he could reach because they're resting on their laurels, the tech illustrates this... and yeah, losing to Snake being a result of this attitude seems like a definite possibility.

oh, dtilt>mach tornado.

Hmm? As in your bloodline prefers Buddhism, but you yourself have decided to be Atheist, or what?

What belt did you progress to while in Tae Kwon Do? I only went to 1st geup or something. <_<

Do you personally find teching in this game harder than in Melee?

Im heading off to college next month, going UCSD, hopefully somebody in my suite brings a Wii and brawl. I was hoping to get into either martial arts or music down there along with my studies.

If mach tornado is such rapage move, why don't i see more spammage of it on youtube matches? I mean back in melee i saw falco's pillar being whored like no tomorrow.

edit: whats a marth ditto really like? non of my cousins play my level of marth (which is pretty low to begin with) so i wouldn't know

The most patient Marth wins.

But think about it.

One of us has to approach.

Yeah, sucks does it not?

Then...

You can really only approach with a grab, tilts, or side-B. Since most aerials will just get make you eat a tippered Fsmash and make your eyes bleed in anguish. Spacing goes completely out the window because every one of your moves can get out ranged by the defender who can Fsmash/Ftilt/Shield Breaker you away.

It's awful really. It's like a really boring battle since the best way to fight it is to psychologically out camp them. <_<

Most MK's don't know how to abuse it or who to abuse it on.

MK is so easy that most of the people that play him are scrubs who don't know ****.

You lost to Pit either cuz he was better, he outplayed you, or you don't know the match-up.

Or a mixture of the above.

Hey Emblem Lord, after the embarrassing thread I made about you yesterday, I went and had a look at all your work. Good stuff, very useful.

I wanted to know if anyone had ever written an analysis on Dolphin Slash, as it is a very useful part of Marth's arsenal, yet not many people use it well. If not I was planning to write one.

Reading about the TSA has led me to feel a little sad too. At least you people have crews and tourneys to go to. Where I live, meh. Which is the only reason I battle people here. But then I don't get to practice with Marth because wifi screws up my spacing and speed.

First two were about what I said, Mk's dtilt (that move turns an even match into Marth's worst match-up....).

The pit reference was to ChaosKnight.

Who to abuse it on? You mean like.... Marth? It's an evil evil move, thankfully, it's never used against my marth.

He can't really abuse it vs Marth.

Actually I want to test if Marth can up b out of Snake's Nair cuz I hear MK can Uair out of it. I haven't played any other MMO's. I have played a few FE games, but only completed Rekka no Ken.

Fishkeeper Timmay did an analysis of Dolphin Slash.

Let me look for the link.

I would think that if spammed DS could get Marth out of Snakes nair, or at least I think so just because I can use DS to get out of Falco's AAA. not to mention if you are close enough you can send Snake flying sidewaysa.

Holy **** like me. =P

But I did get to try all the FE games. All except Radiant Dawn for some reason. Because I don't do Wii emulation lol.

How much do you enjoy Brawl anyhow? I enjoy it more than Melee personally, most likely because it's a nicer-looking game...or something silly like that. =P

someone eiher give tip or tell me it was only due to wifi please. thanks in advance.
