The print out sheet they gave me for my results contained my Body Composition....which had BF, body volume, body density and something called "Thoracic Gas Volume".

Also had my "Energy Expenditure Results" which contained "Est. Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)" kcal/day.

Any methods for effective dumbell lifting? I do three sets of eight each day but for example, if I lift for two days, on the third day, I can barely do a set and a half.

The only reason why I try to do it back to back to back is because I think it is more effective than day, rest, day, rest, day but I want to note that I don't have any knowledge in weight lifting.

Well, unless you're a pro athlete who goes two a days or something, us average folk need to get a day's rest. The reason for that is when you work out, your muscles are essentially suffering tears, and need protein to rebuild and become stronger. That's why people take the next day off to get some good food and rest in, in order to ensure a good build up.

How long are your workouts btw?

OK, I see. Thanks for the explaination.

Umm...well I do everything as 3 sets by 8 but my whole workout usually lasts about 30 minutes. That routine was recommended by my brother but if you have any recommendations for a new routine, I'll gladly accept it.
You don't get stronger by lifting things. you get stronger by recovering. give your body a rest!
Thanks for the advice!

Are those 3 other routines the squat, deadlift and bench press?

you should consider looking into a beginner strength routine such as starting strength or stronglifts. You'll see better results doing one of those in a few months than what your current routine would give you.

Also, the programs have you working out 3 days a week so you'll automatically have at least one rest day in between each workout day =)

My semester ended recently, so I consider this my "end of season". I'm transitioning from bulking to cutting for the summer though. Here's my nine month progress.

Weight
Before: 140 lbs
After: 155 lbs

+15 lbs

Max Bench
Before: 185 lbs
After: 205 lbs

+20 lbs

My goals were to weigh 150 and bench 200, so I'm pretty elated that I surpassed them. I'd take a progress pic, but I look pretty much the same. I'm noticeably bigger though, and I'm glad I can back it up with matching strength.

Previous goal post and before pic.

For the summer, I'll be cutting, and so my major goal is to finally get that six-pack.

Gonna be swimming, running, and eating "right". Blegh.

Bench press, yes but as for the other routines, no.

I will start that beginner strength routine on Tuesday. It feels weird only going 3 days instead of 5. :urg:

Damn, you gained 15 in a year? Nice! I wish I could put on weight but I'm not a big eater. Good **** Meno! Also, swimming is awesome form of exercise. Gets you shredded, pretty much works out the entire body, and gets the heart rate going too. It sucks that there's no pool at my school.

Cutting is so bad. So bad...
I'm actually kind of excited. Been a long time since I got to run around shirtless.

What do you mean "bad"? Inefficient? Boring? The eating part is gonna suck though. I had my "last" fast food tonight in celebration.

15 in nine months. At least 25 since this time last year. I was 130 lbs, lololol.

Swimming is excruciating. Last time I tried it, I have never felt more tired.

Iurnno, cutting correctly basically translates to "you're gonna walk around hungry all the time", and I'm not used to that since I've been stuffing myself with food the past 6 months. Also, results are slow to come, and you're constantly paranoid that the cutting is only serving to kill your gains.

The funniest thing I see in the gym are the gym rats that are in there every day bulking up their upper bodies and ignoring their legs.

They have these massive torsos but little chicken legs.

Its looks so bad and unimpressive.

I hit legs twice a week. =)

Legs are super important to overall power and balance. And they're pretty big parts compared to the rest of your body. No homo but girls dig a nice butt. LOL

Hitting legs today... super squats, lunges, leg press, and some calf raises. Maybe get a bicep workout in too….

I also love working the torso. I’m not talking about those wimpy core workouts like planks but weighted sit-ups. I use a 25lbs weight. I rather have a big round muscular belly and be huge than have skinny washboard abs....PLUS you’re MUCH stronger. I also think arms are keys to looking bigger. You can have the biggest torso ever but if your have little baby arms that get lost in your t-shirt sleeves than you still look puny…

Just started snatching too…. It’s INTENCE!!

Off to eat my breakfast that consists of

2 packets of oatmeal and a half cup of whole milk
A cup of orange juice
A vitamin pill
3 raw eggs.

Seeing people who refuse to workout their lower body is just disgusting. I don't know what they are thinking if they figure women find it appealing or not. If they take a bad spill, there's a good chance they could blow out their knee.

But that won't matter since it won't hurt their upper body workouts.

sadly I might turn into one of those rats because of my accident-induced back pain whenever I lift anything heavy that my core needs to support, which is basically all lower body lifts. feels bad man

I'm the exact opposite. I do a lot of long distance running and hill workouts. In fact I just completed my first marathon in April. I occasionally lift my legs, but not a whole lot because in combination with running I tend to get sore knees quicker. My legs are so much stronger than my upper body. I haven't lifted upper body much in my lifetime. Really sad and there's no excuse for it.

I really need to start and plan on getting a pass to a gym in the next upcoming days to a week. By December I hope to be more tone. I won't ever be buff because I run way to much and have a high metabolism, but I can at least be stronger.

2 packets of oatmeal
Switch over to those little cardboard silos of rolled oats. Packets of oatmeal are iffy, I've noticed. Lots of hidden sugar and things that can't be classified as 'rolled oats'. It tastes good, sure, but it's not the kind of stuff you want to be eating if you're going for a hardcore clean bulk. Also, if you need some more protein in that breakfast of your's, toss in some cottage cheese. Best **** ever. Otherwise, good **** on that ethic and routine.

In Peter news:

I kind of hate squats, but I must say I'm starting to miss them. I sprained my ankle a week or so ago, and I've been staying away from working my ankle with heavy weights as much as possible. That means no squats, calf raises, cleans, or deadlifts. I've been trying to keep up by doing a bit of hypertrophy work with leg extensions and leg curls, while I use that extra time to hit the upper body.

Oh yeah, and running. I can't do that on this ankle. Also, I finally switched from SS to a new routine, which has some extra focus put on body parts that I didn't specifically target with SS (see: abs, calves, triceps). It's fun. </blog>

1) I know some *****bag asian kid who's skinny as ****, has them skinny "washboard abs" and thinks he's the ****. He makes scrubby how to dance vids with an open hoodie and no shirt underneath... Man, it's the most pathetic thing ever.

2) I agree. Along with the arms (bi's, tri's, forearm, and deltoids), lats help give a bigger look too.

Also, I did legs today. Deadlifts freakin drain your energy.

its called synthol injection. It's essentially muscle inflation and has zero strength benefits. it is unhealthy and risky -- if you have a strong stomach, click this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga4be2dr2xw
I wanna see a before and after picture. That's a **** ton of Synthol that guy must've injected. I hope everyone laughs at him for his fake muscle mass.

Seriously. I swear I can see a indent in his "trapezius" as if it were a mountain range. His pecs are so ugly and round too. It's like he's bloated hahaa.

Sorry to double post, but this truly deserves it's own post. If any of you do this, I will kill you. This is what happens when a person wants the to look fit with 0 percent dedication and no willingness to improve health. Absolutely disgusting!

That looks about as natural as calf implants. Which is to say that it doesn't look natural.

It's like I was waiting forever for the blood to come out. Yeah, kids, stay away from the synth.

Took my lazy *** to the gym for the first time in forever today.

Not to do workouts, but to do a health check/body composition check and get a workout plan.

So here are my stats lol

Body fat: 10%
Visceral fat: 2%
Skeletal muscle: 46.3%

Feels so good man, I are superior specimen.

Edit: LOL that black guy has breasts, what a dope.

So typical, front of their upper body bulked up then no laterals or back muscles.

Sit on my arse all day eating pizza, boozing, and smoking and somehow I'm a pretty cool guy.

Just gonna keep gloating now because I can't believe how unlucky some people are.

High five @ European brethren.
