Usually they do 3 songs from each album, and they almost always play Blindfolds Aside, Sequoia Throne, and C'est la vie in each of their sets, so there will be 6~ songs that vary on their sets.
They play No Stars Over Bethlehem, Heretics and Killers, Bloodmeat, and Limb from Limb a lot too. I'd expect those songs, but I dunno about Scurrilous. I haven't seen them since they came out with Scurrilous because I didn't really want to pay to hear that album.

http://grooveshark.com/#!/album/Amesoeurs/3147406 You'll need to drag track 6 into play from the "the show more songs" menu, but this album is rad. Blackgaze/post-black metal type stuff that is way under rated. Niege (the guy from Alcest) was in this band, and Audrey (Amesouers' singer) has done guest vocals for Alcest, so for Alcest fans there is a connection.

Just some music that I have stumbled across lately that I would like you guys to listen to. Usually I look for unique vocals so if you didn't like my Vomitorial Corpulence link then you might as well avoid these.
Impending Doom- Hell's Holocaust Grind with inhale vocals
Devourment - Babykiller First ever Slam Death band and pretty much the only good Slam band to exist.
Malodorous - Bete Noire Big Chocolate, the most talented metal vocalist. This is his earlier stuff, but he is in a band called Disfiguring the Goddess right now. His stuff in this is revolutionary and unprecedented, though.

BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

"wow that's unique and revolutionary!"

hahaha

For another band with unique vocals you could try Hatebeak.

Waldo is a parrot. Also, the drummer is Blake Harrison from Pig Destroyer so that gives you even more reason to check them out.
There's some other band with this gimmick, only it's a dog. I think they're called Caninus.

gimmicky gimmicks for otherwise terrible generic music. it's good for a laugh though.

anyways, here's some Blake Richardson being his usual boss self. this really makes me want an instrumental version of the Parallax

oh. I guess I misinterpreted "Big Chocolate, the most talented metal vocalist....."

you might be right about uniqueness, I don't know. I don't know anything about vocals to be able to tell if someone is doing something completely unique, but it sure sounds like something I've heard a lot.

I hope nobody actually fell for that article.

@Wretched:well I was hoping you'd help me out haha. I really don't know that much about vocals. to me, the Malodorous song sounds a lot of super low inhale pig squeals that are more drawn out and more buried in the mix to be more atmospheric than percussive. Some of it sounds like the one guy in Despised Icon. It's a unique application of whatever technique it is, though, for sure.

I dunno though. youre the vocals guy, elaborate a bit and kick some knowledge instead of just telling me to listen again lol

**** and Ball Torture modifies their vocals and they only do one vocal style, Ben, it is all "Gurguhgehgurguhgeh" but I don't deny that they're pretty original vocals.

Big Chocolate doesn't inhale ever, which is why I'm astounded that he can do what he does. The reason he is different is that his voice is naturally stupid deep, so he can get ridiculous lows by tightening his lungs and making an "O" face and he can do it loud enough to be audible. Also, he does the "eek" sound and varies it with the low growls, and the inbetween becomes wonderful.

The reason I say he is talented is that he actually explores his range. Undeniably, most metal band singers have two styles, scream and growl, so they just switch between the same sound inbetween riffs. I hate it. It is one of the reasons why Deathcore is a ****ty genre. Big Chocolate, however, is the first person who brings a new sound to every song and every album. The dumb thing is that he is still changing his voice:

How did it take me this long to find this thread?
I tend to listen to a lot of thrash, specifically Megadeth. I listen to a lot of other metal, such as Sabbath and Maiden, though not as frequently.
I also have a burning hate towards nu-"metal" if you can even call it that.

every time I hear nu-metal mentioned, it's with a band or a characteristic that I don't think needs to be categorized outside "hardrock". Nu-metal really means nothing to me

Nu-metal is a groove-focused hard rock with hip hop and grunge influences. It was super big in the late 90s with bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit, Seether, Linkin Park, System of a Down, Slipknot, etc etc.

It sucks and is embarrassing, mostly due to lyrical content.

I like SOAD though.

and nu-metal consists mostly of bass pops, turntable scratches and someone whining angsty lyrics about being broken and a failure. I gotta go with chugga chugga over that ****.

Yeah, I agree. Their older stuff is better, hell, the self-titled album is what led me into heavier metal.

I still like Mezmerize/Hypnotize, but it's just not the same SOAD quality, and now they're "on hiatus" :(

Good post, man. Agree with everything you said.

While i'm here, anyone listen to I The Breather? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_91s0xituHU
One of the comments on that vid describes them perfectly, it's Destroy the Runner meets older Born of Osiris. Not bad!

Also, new Periphery song came out today. It's a song that the new guitarist, Mark Holcomb, did in Haunted Shores, but the guitar tone for this version is just amazing imo.
