Don't like Parkway Drive or August Burns Red? Some of my favourite bands.
Nope, but don't worry; I'm more of the wolfshirt purist sort, though infinitely more chill ;)
Plus there's actually other music then metal I enjoy, like Ska / Reggae / prog rock / ... (:

The one death metal album which I enjoy more then Crimson (by Edge of Sanity, just in case somebody didn't come across that masterpiece yet... Listen to it! :)

I love Crimson but it's far too proggy to just be tossed in with "death metal". There is something about a 40 minute lyrically sophisticated song that draws equally from doom and black metal as it does from death metal that makes it hard to call a "death metal" album.

My band is recording most of our EP at QTV's guitarist's studio next month!!! I'm very excited.

if you can plz like my band Contacting Nebulas on FB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Contacting-Nebulas/182062805144950 even though the only recording on there kinda sucks balls. our new stuff is much crazier and just better so be excited!!

also, we're going to be opening up for a really badass band Ceruleus for our first real show at the end of March

also, here's some mathrock - Para-Medics

Are there any other threads for stuff like progressive rock or post-rock?

I feel like this is a community of it's own so I'm sure you guys listen to other genres besides metal.

Yo.

I just found Asking Alexandria. Even though they're not like, under ground or growlers.... it's ****ing great.
That band has done a good job with disappointing me :c. Their screamer was at one point very good, now he can only really growl in concert let alone sing or do any high screams. The instruments are talented, but they continue to play the same boring riffs. I could understand playing simple riffs if they wanna be catchy, but at least play different ones every ones in a while :/.

That being said, their song Alerion is one of my favorite album intros (it's in my top 20 at least), so much hatred for a bunch of British angst-filled teens! They are also not the worst band to get into when first starting into metal (yep, I said it, they're not bad for that, at least they're heavier than bull**** Attack Attack XD), one just has to branch out afterwards or suffer the fate of enjoying only those kind of breakdown synth poppy vox bands (like Woe Is Me, Memphis May Fire, etc.)

Also, new Caliban isn't that bad!

Here's my deal with Asking Alexandria. I loved their first album to death, and still do, it's so good. But, they suck *** live, and I didn't really care for their stuff after the first.

Fun Fact(s): The Dethklok members' appearances are based on actual metal musicians.
Nathan Explosion = George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher of Cannibal Corpse
Skwisgaar Skwigelf = Yngwie Malmsteen
Toki Wartooth = Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth
Pickles = (early) Devin Townsend of Strapping Young Lad
William Murderface isn't though. He's just ridiculous haha.

just get some pantera albums and listen to them and find songs you like. it's really not that difficult lol.

anyways, I'm thinking about seeing Protest the Hero, Periphery, Jeff Loomis on The Safety Fire on this new tour.

Don't really care about any of them except Protest, but I really really wanna see Protest and they're headlining so I'll probably go. Should be vaguely interesting to watch Loomis do his thing though.

I've seen Protest live twice now, they put on a good show. Periphery is also pretty good.

I want to make the 7 hour drive to Atlanta to see them, but only if they play Tandem or Tapestry, I've seen their other songs enough already.

Last time I saw them they played Nautical which made me extremely happy. Sucks that they will never play at least half of kezia though
