Yeah, Fox is annoying. He's easy to kill horizontally, though. My friend plays Fox a lot, and the fact that UpSmash is a great kill move that can be easily comboed into is annoying.

Haven't play a good marth, though.

I think if Buffer system was left as it was, Fox would be the most broken character, ever.

Jeez, with auto L-Cancel it's so easy to pillar with Fox.

Oh and since the first hit of the drill is a spike, with this new gravity, very effective

Last time I played a fox, kupos set, I was surviving up smashes and up airs at 120-130 with good DI. Fox also has terrible recovery. He's good but not Marth good.

You gotta take into account that no buffer applies to when you're shielding too I'm sure. Sometimes I thought I wasn't in shield stun and pressed grab and nothing came out, but really the moves aren't abusable once I figured I just wasn't paying attention because Buffer mod was on.

I still don't see why buffer should be anything below 5 frames, and I honestly don't even know whats wrong with 10. But meh, I can live with 3 if I get my instant aerials and aerial patterns back.

Marth doesn't seem that good either, to be honest.

Crowd the edge, and he's as good as dead. His recovery is one of the easiest in the game to edgehog because of it's predictable trajectory, and the boost from his >B is almost nill now. Neutral B boost is dangerous to do now because of the higher falling speed, and the time it takes to charge.

He does beast on the stage and has a great edgeguarding game, but he doesn't seem broken to me. Good, but not broken

XD fox has a terrible recovery??? have you ever played a low tier like mario, link or bowser?(yes im sure you have) Terrible would be the wrong word as I have had people call me out for calling marios recovery "terrible" more like "subpar: for a high tier"

Fox is right up there with marth as a top tier, and a huge pain in the *** for guys like me that don't main a high tier. (our day will come though... our day will come.)

I wouldn't say its terrible, but its pretty predictable and slow. Unlike some other Up-B's that come out instantly and can at least be used at the right times to mindgame your way back on to the stage. Fox and Falco kind of just have to like mix-up between a few options and if they get knocked off their opponent has plenty of time get ready for the process to repeat again.

As a Kirby main too I don't think its necessary. It couldn't hurt I guess, though only so long as Dair can still be SH'd usefully. .9 or .85 would be a little drastic imo. If anything, please don't change his Dgrav/Ugrav and FullJump settings, I like them the way they are. @_@
It would only add more to his approach game, and if you're a Kirby main you know he's hurting in that department.
A lower SH would help make that problem less of one, it would help him but not in any way that it would throw him over the top.

Edit:
Also, Fox and Marth are fine. They're good chars, nothing broken though.
Those who say Fox's Dair is too good should try thinking about how its hard to land; the hitbox is small and without momentum it's tough to get a surprise jump on the opponent and land it. Not to mention the Utilt spam is nothing special with any sort of combination of DI.
Marth's Fair is good but, broken, I haven't seen it be so.

I don't have much problems approaching. Most of my approaches are done by full jumping, poking with Dtilt, or just grab attempts. Like I said I wouldn't mind a lower SH so long as SH Dair is still an option.

Also a lot of characters could benefit from a lower SH, but we don't always decide to go that route.

Apporoach with Kirby.

Observe to F smash.

Kirby is one of the best characters, period. He is like a less gay Metaknight, and just as hard to deal with.

I don't want to sound mean at all, but play a good Snake or Marth and let me know how those grab and FH approaches go.
Poking Dtilts work in some occasions (especially with the DC, I love it) but still becomes pretty predictable when that's all of a few things we can approach with.
A lower SH shouldn't kill his Dair at all.

I know how much trouble approaching Snakes and Marths can be, but a lot of characters have trouble approaching them. Thats just how they are. I don't know how much a lower SH would benefit in that regard because his aerials are all kind of instant anyways and it would just let you go faster.

And lol Cape, I've been getting that same comment lately...

Fighting Snake with Kirby is ridiculous. Marth can be dealt with, but he's also a pain.

Off hand though, these are the only 2 horrible match-ups for Kirby...

Am I missing any?

G&W is pretty horrible for Kirby. His smashes kill him at very low percents, and Kirby has a tough time edgeguarding him.

lol at kirby being a less gay metakight. I agree that he's good and i would rather he receive no nerfs or buffs but i am in favor of a shorter short hop. There's nothing that a higher short hop or his normal one really gives him over a shorter nicer one that would really help his approach game thats pretty crappy. But ehh.. if you want to keep his sh's the same size then its fine with me.

edit: jab lock combos r pretty **** sexy tho. Especially that pika one.

I'll take a shorter short hop as long as Kirby still has sh fair. I can see the benefits of a shorter sh.

I thought jab locks were fixed already

He does. Muba's codeset had him short hopping much shorter and let me tell you. F-air was rapesauce. :)

I actually have a pretty easy time setting them up, and the smash DI can be punished pretty well.

The fact of the matter is they are really, really stupid. Its stemmed from very bad programming. The techwindow being fixed would help immensely in this.

Laser Locks need to be fixed, as well as possibly the QA lock.

Jab locks could stay in with the teching window fixed though, I think

If there are kirby mains who say it would benefit him, then I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say we should implement it. Get every character with their ideal values first, and then worry about if certain characters are "too good" with their ideal settings.

With the fixed teching window, I'm hoping that locks just disappear entirely on their own.

I tried to play with the newest codeset today with several friends, both games of 2v2 we tried ended in the game freezing, no clue what caused it, but the characters were falcon x 2, wario, and lucario.

jab locks are inescapable, u can only DI towards the edge of the stage only to suppress the damage

and to those having trouble with snake as kirby, do u guys know what bair is????(not trying to sound mean) even in vB his bair is his best approach. marth is just gay(he wears a tiara!!!) i would suggest finding someone else for him.

Agree completely. As far as kirby, i personally don't see why anyone would want the higher SH. It adds nothing that he cant already do with a shorter one and only hurts his approach.

Lets optimize each character making them each feel how we would like them to play, and then if someone is too good we find a way to nerf them without changing their feel as a character.

Can you speed up Ness' pk flash so he can use it to edgeguard? Could you also find out why Ness' yoyos don't charge on certain angles?

Don't know about the Yo's, but I've KO'd a number of times in B+ with PK flash due to NAS. It's pretty much a 0 risk move when used correctly, so I can't justify making it any better. BTW, I'm pretty sure you can combo a weak PK flash from a Dthrow with hitstun, if they don't DI, though I've yet to try it (I used to mindgame it in vB).

PK Flash is pretty hardcore. Destroys bad recoveries, and I use it a lot. I wouldn't complain with a faster PK Flash, but it's not necessary.

Yoyo's don't charge any time when the string is yanked downwards by the yoyo. You can put the yoyo only over an edge and still charge though. Fun to knock people off the edge with.

I used pk flash to edgeguard in melee, just wanted to know if it's possible in brawl+ now.

There are many situations when the yo yo can and cannot charge. For instance: the slants on yoshi island make it impossible to charge the yo yo. It is possible, however, to do a running u-smash near the ledge and let thee yo yo drop off the ledge. I just wanted to know if this could be modified so that you can drop the yo yo off the stage and use it as an edgeguard/ be able to charge on yoshi's island/lylat cruise consistently.

As I'm not back yet from my weekend trip, I'm not completely up to date with every post, so please excuse that if I missed some overwhelming point. (If you have made some super post you think I missed, please PM me it)

Opinions on speed here (not optimizations), did people prefer Beta2 over Beta3 in general, or do people like that some cvharacters preserve their floatiness more in Beta3 whereas others don't?

Falco400, thanks for posting my link on here in the meanwhile till Almas' fixes things, please keep doing so.

I like that some characters preserve their floatiness, and I don't think its slow at all. The fast fall speed still catches me offguard sometimes and I've had my opponents sd to it too. Can't imagine it being increased anymore.

Preservation of floatiness is good in general. I haven't tested Beta3 a lot yet because it freezes, but I'm for the idea of keeping floaty characters at the very least floaty compared to the rest of the roster.
