Alright so...props to Netherrealm Studios; they've done a hell of a job on the new Mortal Kombat game so far. It's so smooth, the story mode is awesome so far, and from the quality of the fights I've done...I see some good competitive potential. Thumbs up.

it looks awesome and all the reviews for it are pretty good if not great. totally buying it tomorrow.

Gameplay reminds me of the old arcade days.
Combos are amazing, graphics are great.
Only thing I am upset about is how they are rebooting it.
It's a lazy and sloppy way.
The story is just not well thought out.

I disagree. They actually follow a lot of the canonical story progression minus the small changes that occur because of Raiden's enlightenment. I...actually like this iteration a lot more than the original story, because the former kind of got silly after MK4.

Mmm, hello guys.
I have a question for you all...
It's about Wario. I can't do the air release to u-smash on him consistently. I flick the control stick in the direction he's air released in (so that peach initiates her dash) and then input an u-smash as soon as I see her start dashing. Sometimes Wario is able to jump away or do an aerial dodge before I can hit him.
How can I mess up something that's supposed to be so simple? Am I doing it wrong? I know Peach is able to do it.

@tofer and ankoku: Yeah, I do the same thing. But I am not able to land it all the time. This is online, so there is a bit of lag...could that be the reason why?



I wish I had a PS3 or xbox 360... All the wii gets is crap. Is the new mortal kombat on both systems? I'm looking into getting one of those aforementioned systems... which one do you guys think is better?

@Momentai, What I usually do is as soon as I see him leave her hands I dash and smash up on c stick as soon as I can.
I always land the hit.

Story is good, just not as good as they could've made it.

^i'm playing through it right now! my only complaint is that the battles where i have to fight 2 opponents and kill them both before i get killed once are hard! i'm extremely bad at the game right now though haha.

the story is as good as i could ever expect from mk, and i usually expect over-the-top silliness and entertainment. as such, it doesn't disappoint and is actually a little serious! i'm pretty happy with it thus far, hopefully it won't disappoint when i actually start trying to learn to play it (and i hope mileena is good!)

Oh pshhh, it's so refreshing to have a bit of a challenge present in a fighter's single player mode again lol. Kintaro and Goro were free, just keep backing away and spam ice ball/enhanced ice ball to uppercut/jump kick/standard combo, uppercut if they try to stomp from above any other time, and just don't take them head on. It's fine to play the standard fights like you normally would, but you have to play gay to take out the boss characters because of their stupid super armor reactions. For instance, I beat Shao Kahn with Liu Kang by backing away, crouching, and spamming low fireballs under his spear tosses and flying/bicycle kicks whenever he was a ****** and taunted.

P.S. You should probably cool it with the spoilers man. xD
But remember, they're planning on continuing with the story since the ending leaves it open to continue, and you never know what will happen when it does; can't always have that storybook turnout ya know. I personally found that plot twist that involves everyone to be awesome, it made me LOL at how awesome it was.

Anyways, I was playing it on hard mode, cause I am a boss like that.
**** was ridiculous, every single move was either frame safe or invisibility.
Same thing with any teleporter, they just teleport and win.

Metaknight- Standard.
Falco- Takes a lot of practice to play correctly. Play Notra or something and figure out different punishes to his gay style.
Marth- He controls the air, rely more on bair and nair for quick punishes than you normally would.
Snake- Takes a lot of patience, precision, pressure, and luck. Even when you play this matchup correctly, Snake can still sometimes just outlast her.

The rest of the matchups are around even-ish, use your intuition in those or ask Mikey for tips, or me if I'm there.

Meta Knight will be Meta Knight, I'll just play him with whatever character I decided to "lock" into for the given tourney.
Might go Marth for Falco/Snake. Or Sheik for those two. I'll deal with Peach-Marth.

Yeah I'd say Sheik sounds good for those two...she handles them both rather well. Peach-Marth is fun to play, haha.
