You know, honestly, I kind of like how these characters look. I never quite understood why people thought they looked wierd. Anyways, the Switch Atheletes would be our anwer to the long consiered option of including a Mii Athlete. Basically, this wouldn't have all of the outfits but, rather, an Inkling/Stylist with mutliple alternate costumes. I never actually played the game but apparently the Sportsmates can use various costumes in game which is something to draw from. We have yet to create a sports-centered moveset (Waluigi doesn't count) so seeing some creativity in that field would be interesting to see. The game is rather new so not as iconic as some of those submitted but, nonetheless, important. In terms of other content, there Spocco Square as well as associated Switch Sports and other Sports-centered Nintendo games that could be included.

With the success of New Horizons, I was pretty surprised we didn't have a new Animal Crossing rep in the base roster. I think KKS would be a good pick because he is a very popular character, and also a very relevant character both in the minds of Nintendo fans and in his own series. KK has appeared in every Animal Crossing game to date, and has the potential for a much more unique moveset than other characters from the franchise.

Hisuian Pokemon Trainer?

characters.png

The first canonical player character to actually be able to fight other Pokémon in a mainline Pokémon, it's the main character of Legends: Arceus, officially named Rei and Akari. Thus, I think it would be okay for them to fight on the battlefield chucking balms, smoke bombs, rocks, etc... while getting assisted help from Hisuian exclusive Pokémon like Wyrdeer, H-Braviary and Sneasler. It would be another Trainer character but would be totally different from the Pokemon Trainer introduced in Brawl.

Here are our submissions! Thank you for everyone for your submissions an dtaking the time to right them out. I am sorry we had to be restrctive but they were neccesary in order to get quality and productive results.

...my time has finally come.

DAITENGU
Daitengu is a very, very unusual pick for a new fighter, even for me. He’s not even a video game character, he's only found in card games, and real-life ones to boot. So you’re asking: why even bother suggesting him??? Well, that’s simple: he’s not just from any card game, but from Hanafuda cards, the first-ever product Nintendo had ever sold when it was established in 1889. In fact, Nintendo still references Hanafuda to this day, with Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics having a playable Hanafuda! As for the fact that Daitengu isn’t even in a video game, we do have an example of a non-video game character in Smash already: R.O.B., who’s a toy accessory for the NES.

While Smash has become a celebration of gaming today, we mustn’t forget that it started off as Nintendo’s all-star game, taking from its long history to give us wacky characters like Ness, R.O.B., and Mr. Game & Watch. I wish for Daitengu to be in the game to represent the time before Nintendo even made video games, as part of a universe I’m calling Marufuku, based on the “福” kanji prominently used in Nintendo’s products leading up to their foray into video games.

But how would he play? Well, Daitengu's moveset would mainly be based on the hanafuda game known as “koi-koi”, which is essentially Japanese poker. In that, the goal is to make a winning set as quickly as possible, which could be replicated in Smash by having Daitengu have Special Moves involving discarding some cards, drawing multiple cards, and showing winning hands for massive damage. Unique right?

But here's a big question: how popular are Hanafuda cards IRL? Well, they're still being somewhat used today: Demon Slayer protagonist Tanjiro Kamado wears hanafuda-themed earrings, Tales of Berseria has a minigame based on koi-koi, Episode 3 of Nisemonogatari has featured hanafuda, Nintendo themselves released Mario-themed Hanafuda cards, an anime movie called Summer Wars uses koi-koi as a plot point, dispute this all you want, but Hanafuda still finds its way to catch the eyes of the public to this day.
Alright let's do this:
RAVEN BEAK
Raven Beak its the most recent villain of the Metroid series being the antagonist and last boss of Metroid Dread. The leader of the Mawkin tribe and "father" of Samus Aran. He first appeared in the Chozo Memories of Samus Returns. Even if I already droped the big reveal I don't want to tell all the story of Metroid Dread so I will stop right now.

Why Raven Beak?
Bias, there is not too much to say.

Just joking.

The DLC lineup lacks villains, Raven Beak is one of the coolest villains Nintendo even made so I think he would be cool. Apart of that I think Metroid get a big second wind with Dread so having more Metroid representation would work nicely. It would also have a Cloud-like actualization for Samus with her Final Smash using the Metroid Armor or just including the Metroid Armor has a new skin for Samus.

How would Raven Beak be?
Think on him on a pseudoclone of Samus, having a few similar moves but being overall different having less emphasis on zoning and more on the general offensive. Being honest the only similar thing would be the Neutral Special and even then it would still be quite different.
Alright, I am not sure if this submission would be allowed but might as well take a punt...

The Diver (Endless Ocean)

View attachment 354356

The Diver is the generic avatar character from Endless Ocean (aka Forever Blue in Japan). Endless Ocean was a game developed by Arika and published by Nintendo. The series only had 2 games but it is an underrated classic from the 2000s. Endless Ocean surprisingly has not received any content in any Smash game. That needs to change. Therefore, I feel The Diver can have a very unique play style being a heavy to represent it being underwater as well as an exploring gimmick. An overall solid pick to represent a nostalgic era of video games for Nintendo and what not.
Took an old writeup and changed it a little to be relevant to both Infinite's lore since and what I've learned about Smash since
JILL & DRILL DOZER STEAL THE SHOW!

Who are Jill & Drill Dozer?
Jill (NOT “Jill Dozer”, her last name has never been confirmed in the West, though she does have one in Japan, where she is known as "Dori Kururi") is the protagonist of the 2005 puzzle-action-platformer Drill Dozer, made by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. The daughter of a righteous crime boss, Jill was raised in the art of thievery, piloting a powerful Drill Dozer tank long before she could even read or write. Before her mother’s untimely death, she gave Jill a powerful red diamond that can grant any wish, trusting her not to abuse its power and protect it from anyone who may want to - so when the not-so-righteous Skulker gang break in, incapacitate Jill’s dad, and steal the diamond, it’s up to the little rascal to get it back, and on the way discover the conspiracy behind why the police always target the Red Dozers and not the Skulkers. It's because the Skulkers are paying them

What would Jill & Drill Dozer do?
We don’t yet have a fully drill-based fighter. Jill would likely have a multihit-heavy moveset, powerful attacks, slow movement, a heavy weight disproportionate to her small size, (just slightly below an ultraheavyweight, 110 about) and poor air mobility but great air attacks. Jill admittedly doesn’t have many unique maneuvers with her drill, but she does have a propeller that lets her drill in the air, can shift up gears by timing the drill button (which could play into her overall playstyle) and when all else fails a mighty punch. We could probably composite some level elements from Drill Dozer into her moveset - such as Jelly Blocks which she can bounce backwards off of, or lifts she sticks her drill into and can be carried by. A lot of people may think of Jill as a “Bowser Jr. clone”, but beyond being obnoxious children piloting robots and Jr. having one or two drill moves there’s no real resemblance. Speaking of Bowser Jr, we could possibly have Gearmo and Grutch as alternate characters as their proportions fit.

Why should Jill & Drill Dozer be in Smash?
  • Jill would be a representative for Game Freak’s non-Pokémon games. Jill’s inclusion in Smash could be a big break for them and allow them to build interest for their pocket monster-free titles.
  • Within our universe, Drill Dozer has already been established to get a remake, so she's in the public eye for the first time... ever, really! That means she's technically more relevant than a lot of the Switch characters being submitted within our time frame
  • Drill Dozer, while not known to many, is often considered one the best games (if not THE best original platformer) the GBA has to offer, as well as one of Game Freak's best titles outside of the Pokémon series.
  • The Game Boy line of consoles has been seriously lacking when it comes to Smash representation, with the only character in Smash you could really consider exclusively associated with it being Lucas.
Since Kirby isn't allowed I will go for my second option.

Lyn(dis)!
Sure everyone hates Fire Emblem but I think Lyn would be more unique than your regular Marth semi-clone being more of a rushdown character with mixups. I also love Lyn so thats some extra points for me (:, I would love if her Shirow Miwa outfit would be avalaible has her main but I would be ok if it's just an alternative outfit.
**** it, Matt from Wii Sports

Why Matt? Well, everyone knows Matt. Everyone loves Matt. In terms of selling DLC there is literally no downside here. The Wii was huge, what else can I say?
Yes, Matt's a meme character. People are allowed to enjoy characters for humorous reasons, just like someone might enjoy Ridley because he's cool, or Kirby because he's cute. If Multiversus can add Ultra Instinct Shaggy and NASB can add Hugh Neutron, why can't Infinite add Matt?
Yes, you can make a Matt Mii with our existing Mii Fighters. But Matt, the character, could have his Swordfighting armor from Resort (excluding the mask) so that he doesn't feel generic. We could also make him a hovering, limbless oval-type Mii, like the catchers in Wii Baseball. There are plenty of ways to differentiate Matt from existing Mii Fighters.
He would be a midweight midrange character who would be equipped with his Swordfighting blade from Resort.
I don't think there's anything else to say on Matt that hasn't already been said by those before me. He's cool. Wii Sports deserves a rep. Put him in.
Closing argument:
Cynthia (Pokemon)

One aspect of Pokémon that has barely been touched is the trainers.

Cynthia would fight as herself on the battle field and utilize her pokemon for certain attacks like Specials and Smash attacks.

Cynthia is one of the most popular trainers in the franchise.

Yeah I know there was a whole discussion about how we should get an actual pokemon but like it's my submission
Geno (Super Mario RPG)
View attachment 354379

Since he is elegible I think he should have a chance, he is a big character in speculation and Mario RPG deserves some love from Nintendo, he has enough tools for a moveset and there's a lot of choices for stages.
I wish I could elaborate more on Geno but he just happens to be a big character in speculation from a kind of obscure game that has potential for moveset and other content related to him, that doesn't make him a bad choice tho (at least personally)

By the way, is Mini Kangaroo elegible? I think he would be awesome
View attachment 354388
Kamek
Yoshi is one of the few 64 series to never get a second rep. It has enough content to pull from and the fact that we can also cheat and do Mario content helps. Kamek is a farily well recurring character. I considered Shy Guy but Kamek felt like more of a character. Another magic user would be cool. He has spells to pull from, his toadies, he could even sumon baby Bowser.
Character submission:
Ring Fit Trainee (Ring Fit Adventure)
View attachment 354393

(Artwork taken from Ring Fit Adventure)
Who are they?
Ring Fit Trainee is main protagonist of Ring Fit adventure, a game that debuted on Nintendo Switch in 2019 as exercising game with ring-like peripheral. RFT is a human protagonist, who accidentally released an evil bodybuilding dragon named Dragaux (He is an antagonist of the game) and he tries to take over it. RFT teams up with magical guaurdian named Ring and goes on adventure to defeat Dragaux.
She has fitness-themed abilities and she is capable of using her body parts to attack opponents as it was shown in the game. The exercises form the game are based on real common ones that people do at morning for their daily routines.

Her/His game sold well and it recieved many positive reviews from many critics. As for march 31st of 2022, her/his game sold over 14.09 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best selling games on Nintendo switch console. RFT (character) is not very iconic as Wii Fit Trainer, but it's still popular character and it's one of recent Nintendo characters alongside Officer Howard.
Her/His game is mixture of RPG and Fitness game, making the game unique and quirky for a fitness game.

How the could work in Smash?
Well, since I mentioned that they attack the foes with their body parts, so it makes to include their attacks and abilities to their movesets in Smash.
Also Ring would be in some of their attacks like neutral special, where they shoot a gust of air from it, pushing the opponent back fro RFT. RFT has a lot of moves to choose from the game as normal attacks and specials.
Trainee could also have a special gimmick, which is activity meter. When it's active, the meter rises and when it's full, it gives it a temporary status boost that allow RFT to be faster and stronger for while. If she/he doesn't attack or move, it decreases down to empty bar.

Ring Fit Trainee would be middleweight fast all-around character with no additional movement options.
Also RFT's alts would get the same treatment as WFT, where there are 4 female alts and 4 male ones (They also could have different voice actors).

Why Ring Fit Trainee should join Smash?
Ring Fit Trainee should be in smash, because it would be one of most recent additions to smash bros like Officer Howard for example (Which he debuted in base game of Infinite) and it would be another fitness-type character after Wii Fit Trainer. RFT also fits the criteria of the job because her game sold very well and it would make sense if we include her in game because of it's game's sales (Heck, the game is even considered as one of most selling games on Switch like I mentioned earlier on this essay)
RFT would be also a 1st party newcomer who hails from the series that were unrepresented by fighter before. It would be also another hardware rep for smash (since we haven't got a one in base game).

Besides that, Ring Fit Adventure series has a lot of source material to make it into spirits, stage and even item or assist trophy for example.
Character Submission Job

Krystal (Star Fox)

File:Krystal SF Assault wallpaper.jpg

Krystal is a major character in the Star Fox franchise as both a member of the Star Fox team and a love interest of Fox. She has made major appearances throughout multiple games in the Star Fox series and quickly became a fan favorite.

She was one of the most highly requested characters during the Brawl and Smash 4 eras and still enjoyed plenty of popularity during the Ultimate era to be added as an Assist Trophy. Among the remaining eligible Assist Trophies, she's one of the most highly requested characters that hasn't been added to Infinite, so she would be perfect as our first promotion.

Her moveset potential would be centered around use of her staff where she could use ice and energy based attacks, making her the first Star Fox character since Fox to have a completely unique moveset and not to be a clone in some format. Overall, Krystal has been one of the longest running major requests for Smash, especially among first parties, and would be a perfect addition to Infinite.

File:DR9xV.jpg
Resubmitting my Max Brass entry from over a year ago. Theres a few Pokemon id love to toss up(Toxtricity) but do not have time to do so
In response to above, curse those restrictions

New alternative: Excadrill
This mole Pokémon is a Ground/Steel type, and we so far don’t have a ground type Pokémon playable yet, so Excadrill would be a fun one to use. Moves like Steel Claw and Bulldoze would be great and a burrowing fighter would be unique.

Overall, Excadrill would be worth having in this game.
Sportsmates

General opinions of all the characters:
  • Daitengu: I would normally be against this but I like the idea, not for the correct reasons but hey, something is something.
  • Raven Beak: Is my submission.... I don't think I need to say something.
  • Lyndis: Not the biggest FE fan but I think if we need to have another rep of the series Lyn seems the correct option, a very popular character that even if her game was released long time ago she still is a fan favorite.
  • Matt: I would also be against him regularly but the idea of have the Wii Sportsman with him sounds very cool, that would also allow people to have their own class of mii they want even if Matt wouldn't be customizable.
  • Sportsmates: They are the same has Matt but without the meme, even then I consider them rather less interesing since the proper Switch Sports has a very small quantity of sports in comparison.
  • Excadrilll: Not the first Pokémon I have in my head when I think in Pokémon but sounds like a good idea, Unova rep is always welcome.
  • K.K. Slider: IDK, I never liked Animal Crossing so I don't have anything good to say.
  • Hisuian Trainer: Truly a based choice, would be refreshing control an actual trainer instead of the Pokémon (I think we can still have the Pokémons in the special moves but the trainer would do most of the job.
  • Cynthia: Even if the submissions says that she will fight I think she would follow the traiditional trainer idea with changing between Garchomp and two of her other Pokémon. Still being a cool idea tho, Cynthia is a big fan favorite.
  • Jill: I don't know nothing about she but looks more like someone who would work better has an assists tbh.
  • Ring Fit Traneer: Eeeeeh, I think it fits more for the base game than has a DLC. I think she would work more in the next gen has the "hardware past gen rep".
  • Kamek: I always liked the idea of Kamek has a Yoshi rep, even then its kinda late for that imo.
  • Krystal: Also a character that I think it's late for including it, still, I usually finds she between the fanrosters so I guess she mantained her popularity over the years?
  • Diver: No comments.
  • Max Brass: Great choice!, Max Brass is one of the coolest characters from ARMS so he would be a really cool addition, but the fact that ARMS of all franchise required to be a DLC twice really doesn't sound well, also, how much ARMS content is left?
  • Geno: I never was a particular Geno supporter but being probably his last stand I find him a great choice.
In the end I voted for Raven Beak, Geno and Daitengu. Still a shout out to Lyndis, Hisuian Trainer and either Matt or the Sportsmates. All of them great choices.

I'm not even a Geno fan but I think it might be his time. Yes. He's technically a third party and technically a Mario character, but he's a long term fan request.

Raven Beak is cool. Krystal could be neat though I kinda think Star Fox is fine with what it has. A Pokemon rep makes sense though the ones we have aren't really who'd I'd go for, the Trainer could maybe be cool. Never been a fan of the solo trianer idea but it at least makes sense with this version. Daitengu is actually a clever retro pick. Endless Occen would work best as a stage. The three sports/fitness characters are soild, Ring Fit is a new series and faril popular, both sports perosn picks work. Matt is a meme pick that I actually don't dislike. Max and KK are fine, no real comment on them.

We had an astonishing amoiunt of votes with a total of 20 votes casted within a short amount of time! We also have a clear and definitive winner. Thank you everyone for these votes as well as the submissions! This is a reminder that, while this is our last character for season 2 that we are submitting, we will go in an rearrange the season 2 roster lineup. The one character who will be moved 100% is Ratchet and Clank to avoid patterns with Zagreus (two western characters starting as the first characters of their respective seasons). This is also a reminder we do have a third and final season planned.

GENO
We had gotten 20 votes total which put Geno in a clear lead over Daitengu, our second top most voted character. Based on the number of 3 point votes Geno got plus more two point votes leads me to declare Geno as our winner. I feel the vote results indiciate who our winner is in this regard.

Now, Geno is in a wierd situation as he is technically owned by Square but is seen as a honorfied Nintendo character. With that being said, we will be deciding his fate within Nintendo's legal situation in a little bit. I have an idea that I have had for Geno in the chance he becomes playable on what to do with him and his ownership rights. Now, I didn't mention this previously because I didn't want for it to skew our end results but there was something attached to this character. Basically, bringing this character into the roster will come with a new game from that franchise. Trust me, I wasn't sure how this would turn out - especially if a Pokemon, Fire Emble, or whatnot one. Regardless, I was excited the prospects of all of them. So, along with working on Geno and SMRPG content, we will also be doing a job that focuses on creating a new SMRPG game.

I was kind of looking forward to a Hanafuda card game job....

We will continue our next job in a little bit.

the content rounds will be fun, assuming we'll allow mainline Mario stuff and not just RPG's.
I dislike Geno himself but tbh I wasn't really on board with doing a first-party character anyways, seemed like a weird way to close out a fully third-party pass. So this is a win in my eyes.
Also Smash fans will be losing their minds over two Square Enix reps in a row

Remind that the order of the DLC's wouldn't be the same has the jobs, thats why every S2 character still has the FP #???

1) We will be rearranging this pack Or at least switching Ratchet with someone else to avoid a pattern (first character of a season benign western).

2. Tomb Raider was sold to Embracer Group. It’s listed under that.

Alright, so we will progress to our next job which is crafting Geno moveset.

Submit a Geno Moveset

This moveset will utilize the timed effects of Geno’s gameplay which meant that when the attack connects, it will do extra damage when the attack button is combined with it. Geno will have an increased aura the moment this is able to happen as a visual cue for players.

So we will be submitting the following content:
  • Geno stats
  • Jabs and Normals
  • Tilts
  • Smashes
  • Aerials
  • Throws
  • Specials
  • Final Smash
Considering Geno has a lot of Smash speculation history to draw from, creating a set of specials and pulling inspiration shouldn’t be too hard.

Neutral Attack: Swings his arms in a slapping motion twice, finishing with a rocket punch that travels a set distance before exploding. If the attack button is pressed right before the rocket punch hits, it will deal extra damage and knockback, otherwise it's a basic jab with a weak finisher.

Geno Whirl
A highly-telegraphed attack and one of his most infamous. Geno will form a disk of Golden energy in his hand and throw it out on frame 14. Normally if you hit a foe with this it'll deal a measly 6% damage and flinches, allowing Geno some good set-up potential. But there's a catch! If you press the B button the exact frame before it touches a foe's hitbox, you'll deal a critical hit with much stronger knockback! Not even Kazuya's Electric Wind God Fist was as precise in Smash as this!

If you press the B button the exact frame before it touches a foe's hitbox, you'll deal a staggering 99% damage and near-instant-KO knockback! Not even Kazuya's Electric Wind God Fist was as precise in Smash as this!
Maybe instead of 99% damage the move could just be a critical hit like Hero's?

Congrats to Geno fans, he wasn't in my top 3 choices but regardless he probably would have been in my top 5 or 6 among the options.

So since Geno was already a Mii in Ultimate, I presume this means we still have AT/Mii promotions available in season 3? (and how many if so?)

Geno, Dante, Doomslayer, Lloyd, and Travis Touchdown were voted back in December to not be ultimately Mii Costumed for DLC. The rest didn’t get that and they won’t be eligible for a promotion as they are dlc. Launch content is a huge maybe still.

I'm gonna be perfectly frank here

Hanafuda shouldn't have been eligible because it's not a video game or even intrinsically linked to gaming, and even it you wanna skirt the line by saying that Nintendo is a video game developer so it doesn't count, that 100% is a base game kind of pick, not DLC.

I think the cards themselves as an item would be reasonable, but this is a video-game crossover and always has been. We came dangerously close to breaking the biggest rule here, and I'm not for that.

Hanafuda is not a video game, and was never created with the intent of being sold as a video game. It isn't half if the required components for a video game either, like R.O.B.

Have there been Hanafuda video games before? Yes, and Nintendo even published them. But the same can be said for Mickey Mouse, Goku, Spider-Man and Barry B. Benson. Let's not break any more rules.

I also don't like too much the idea of allow 4th parties.....but we are already in other job so, what's the matter?, Daitengu didn't won, there is no reason to still talking about that.

Geno move submissions:
Neutral Special: Geno Beam - Geno shoots out an energy beam from his arm cannon in front of himself, dealing 9.7% per hit.
However, if you press B before it hits the foe, it increases it's damage, spead and length, making the attack stronger.
Also if you hold B, you could continuously shoot the beam at opponents.

Side Smash: Geno shoots out his wooden fist from his arm into opponents and later explodes when has a contact with it. It gives 12% per punch.

Grab: Geno grabs the opponent with his right wooden arm.

To make my stance and produce discussion amongst the project leads on whether this should be allowed, so there won't be an issue next time. I would've made this post earlier, but I've been extremely busy lately.

PapaGenos reaction in this universe: "Oh okay, so we're starting off my Kirby. Ooh, is it maybe a Metroid character? Because he's in space right now. Raven Beak from Dread? Oh, he crashed into a forest. Oh, what if it's Crash? suddenly jaw gapes comically large No way, they wouldn't..."

GENO GRANTS THE WISH!

"Oh hey, that's pretty cool! I didn't think they'd put Geno in so late."
