We will begin mapping out our first festival this evening or tomorrow. We won't have a ton of Festivals but it just so happens that our first couple of months have a lot of them. After April's festival, we will have one in July. Please keep in note that while the festivals here coincide with "real time", it does not mean that is when we will plan the festivals out. Once the content is finished, think of it as forwarding the clock to the time.







It will be really bad if I predict the day society crumples.....

As mentioned before, we will be now progressing to our post-launch. I have been holding out on this for a while but the idea is that we will be using the post-launch content to create a series of content that will eventually become its own standalone title. Think of it like a "Mario Kart 8" to "Mart 8 Deluxe" to "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Pass" to "Mario Kart 9" with MK9...or 10 depending on how you look at using the Booster Pass as a basis to springboard off a new game. These Festivals and the Smash Hud are design elements in order to continue breathing new life into the game and possibly increasing the Smash Infinite brand which is something I want to see continue. I would hide the fact that I made Infinite's roster waaaaaaaay too big. I should have restricted it to 13-15 characters tops with 12 DLC characters. Moving forward, I will be restricting the roster. There may be DLC fighters appearing during the Festivals but we will have to see. The Festivals is a live update model with the content unavailable for those who do not purchase, win, or receive the items though it may be made available in later festivals or, depending on the Festivals, the year later. Characters that are purchased, if they do appear, obviously will remain and can still be purchased even after the festival ends though at probably a higher price.

That being said, our first festival is Fall/Autumn related! This will be held during Thanksgiving time in America and will be a global event regardless of the hemisphere. In regards to size, this is a fairly small Festival with not much content and will be an easy festival to introduce players to. It will occur 3 weeks after the game launches which allows players time to get to know the Smash Hub before the festivities start. The announcement of the Fall Festival and Festivals in general will occur in 2 weeks. For those wondering if you can submit a Festival, the answer is yes but I want to get a few under our belts before we do so just so we all know what typically goes inside a festival as it is not like something we have done before.

Festival of Feasts Job: Creating a Fall-influenced Mii Costume​

We will be introducing two Mii Costumes that can be either purchased in-game Gold or real-world currency with a discount. It can also be one in Online Matches during this time. Once the Festival ends, these costumes cannot be acquired until another time or if there is a Mii Costume sale going on. That being said, they will be more expensive than when purchased during the Festival.

You will be submitting Smash original costume that symbolizes Fall and appeals to a Global audience. With that being said, perhaps a turkey costume would not be the best route as the turkey is symbolic of American Thanksgiving rather than fall as a whole. Halloween-influenced content is permissible but we will have a Halloween festival (Festival of Frights) come next year (in thread time).

Some ideas included concepts such as

• Scarecrows
• Costume with fall foliage
• Elf with fall foliage
• Animals
• Fall-related food like pumpkins, apples, hay, etc.
• Things associated with fall (hiking, camping, etc.)

We will be submitting one but accepting 2.

Hikers Outfit
This outfit is for Mii Brawler class. It comes with a jacket which has a jacket that can be changed along with a similar color for a stocking cap. Under the jacket is a red and black plaid button-up shirt. It comes with jeans and brown hiking boots with black globes. Then it has an olive green large hiking backpack. There is also a flashlight tied to what appears to be a belt.

Works like the other animal costumes, is a realistic fox. comes with the head, a body suit and a bushy tail.

Pie Costume (Apple/Pumpkin/Blueberry) (Brawler)

Thank you again for your submissions. I am interested in hearing what people think of our 'festivals". I feel like a "live service" model isn't something Smash hasn't tried but something I think would go well with it. That being said, I am trying to tailor it to avoid the whole microtransactions issue hence why I have multiple ways to get items (spending in-game gold, real money, or winning them in online matches, tournaments, or Episodes.) I would appreciate feedback on them and perhaps things you would like to see. I have ideas for Crossover events involving other franchises that will be opened up to the thread.

That being said, I would like to move onto....

Stage Variation Submissions​

If you recall, we added Stage Variations. Along with making our Smash Hub a wonderland of fall colors. We will be transforming up to 5 stages into bastions of fall colors. When submitting, please provide the:

Stage and how it looks when fall colors are applied to it. Due to this reason, stages with foliage like trees would be preferable. For our stage list, please consult the front page.

You can submit up to 2 stages that will be added to our voting round. We will be accepting the top 5 submissions.

Mushroomy Kingdom
Seems the natural color is returning to the abandoned kingdom! It's still photorealistic and a little yellow, but the desert has paved way for a beautiful, orange forest of trees and rivers, as well as nature's moss claiming the boxes and pipes (you can still break and uses the boxes though), you may even spot some fittingly photorealistic turtles!

Bonfire Gamer
No mom (or mum, this is a British holiday) to worry about because she's let you stay up for the fireworks... however, Fronk's in the building too, and he doesn't like fireworks! This creates a minor variation - 5-Volt's cameo is swapped for fireworks outdoors, but Fronk is always on the table - when fireworks are coming... GET AWAY FROM FRONK! There are also false alarms in the fireworks, some that just fizzle and not burst. The fireworks that do burst are shaped like Wario series characters. Some of the background elements aren't in since there's no need to hide from vision (sorry Pyoro fans). The stage has lights turned on, albeit with a warm glow.

Garden of Hope
In an environment as lush and full of nature as this, of course the fall would be a good season for this stage! The Autumn variation of the Garden of Hope will change from a lush green to a rustic red and yellow. Some parts of the stage will be plastered with various leaves and there are even some pumpkins scattered across the background of the stage, to boot!

Minecraft World
Minecraft gets a new biome skin in the form of the Old Growth Taiga biome! The difference between this and other stages is that there's sprawls of Podzol blocks and mossy rocks scattered across the environment. In the background, you'll find some wild pumpkins as well, some of which are carved and alight, which can be noticed when night falls!

Green Greens

Autumn variation will change all the trees and grass in the stage to red, yellow, and brown colors, much like Autumn stages in the Kirby games themselves. The wind will be slightly stronger to signify the colder season.

Town and City

Autumn variation will change the foliage in the stage, both trees and grass, to red, yellow, and brown colors, similar to the Autumn season in the Animal Crossing games. The grass in the background might have farm patches of pumpkins, carrots, potatoes, wheat, tomatoes, sugarcane, and various crops, signifying the fall harvest season.

Sorry, I was a bit busy but I want to talk about these areas:

Area 1 - Docking Sation: While hidden by a very large tree, this area is cobbled together with stone and masonry. It has lockers that allow players to store items if need be. This is where players will first find themselves after arriving at the Smash Hub and where their Gunships are docked. Up to 35 airships can be docked at one time. Coming to this platform and hailing your airship will bring it to your location. You can also customize your airship and speeder here thanks to Slippy who acts as the Vendor.

Area 2 - Meeting Area + Vendors: This serves as the main transit hub for players. They will do most of their business here at the base of the great tree. Here, vendors have shops where players can purchase goods such as music, mii costumes, collectibles, and so on. In addition, players can challenge others to battles here via a quick match system. Tom Nook is the primary Vendor here but Beedle has a shop as well as some others.

Area 3 -Episodes, Additional Content: This serves as a place to access Episodes as they appear but also for additional content such as Training, Smash Trails, and so on. In addition, there are various ruins, caverns, and other secrets that may yield gold. The is the only place that lacks a Vendor.

Area 4 - Boss Raids and Smash Dungeon: This area truly represents what you would find here: Boss Raids and Smash Dungeon but you can also find various materials as well as items that tend to fit this place well. Certain events will be held here as well. The Merchant from Resident Evil acts as a Vendor.

Area 5 - Spirits: All things Spirits can be found here including Spirit Boards, Shop, training, sending them off to do things, and more. New Spirits will also appear here. Professor E. Gadd is the vendor for this location.

Area 6 - Online Battles/Tournaments: This location allows players to enter into online battles that perhaps have more rules than normal. These are not quick battles but function as Arenas from Ultimate. The ESports Team Manager mode is also found here.

This transforms the once barren and In hospital military base into a sea of reds, oranges, and browns as leaves scatter about the stage instead of snow. The Metal Gear still does appear in the background though so this once tranquil fall paradise is not what it seems.

Up at the top of the thread is a poll concerning an issue I am struggling to decide to include in our Festival packages. Character-specific skins related to Festivals. For example, for this festival, several characters would gain either color-focused event colors ranging from oranges, reds, and browns or another character may be costumes relating to fall. I am personally against this idea as it, is not something I feel Smash would do but, then again, I also feel a lot of this isn't something Smash would do. Still, it seems something that Smash outwardly avoids.

Submit Hub Aesthetics​

Keeping in mind the above picture I posted, please submit how the Festivals of Feasts would affect the main Hub or Meeting Place. Please note that, unlike other events, the Fall of Feasts is rather small in scope so the aesthetics cover only the Meeting Area when people arrive. It does not affect the other areas (areas 3 through 6 in the picture). These aesthetics could be changing the foliage to autumn colors, having pumpkins everywhere, having a large banquet table of food, candles in windows, chimneys in the vendor stores having smoke, and leaves falling everywhere, but it should not interrupt gameplay nor offer unique interaction features. It's purely aesthetic.

An Online Tournament will accompany this update. The tournament can be loosely connected to autumn and fall in some way but there needs to still be a relevant connection due to it sharing the name of the Festival "Festival of Feasts". This is because, in some festivals, there may be 2 tournaments in one Festival. When submitting the event, please provide the concept of the Online Tournament followed by the characters that can be utilized.

Here are my submissions for Aesthetics:

• Throughout the entire island, autumn leaves blow through the air. While you cannot see leaves settling on the ground, there are leaves that exist on the ground.
• There are piles of leaves found which can be run through which throws the leaves into the air. Sometimes, items or Gold can be found in these. This will take the place of green leaves and rubble which can be sifted through to find certain items.
• There is a giant banquet table of various food which players can meet at. The Banquet Table changes every day in terms of the food being served but most of it just rotates in circulation with certain food appearing with other food in cycles.

We voted to include alternate colors and costumes for particular characters to be included in Festivals. While I disagree with this, I will uphold the vote and allow them to be included. We will be adding 10 new alternatives and costumes based on the Festival of Feasts. We will be including 4 alternate costumes and 6 alternate colors. That is to say, a costume that affects a character and then colors that change the character's current model. This ensures that we don't only have alternate costumes but also easily obtain alternate colors. A character can't have more than one costume/color.

Submit both an Alternate Costume and an Alternate Color

Please submit an alternate costume that changes the model of the character. Characters that have these costume slots will be selectable by selecting the ”＋” button upon selecting it. Please submit a character that has a Festival of Feasts-related costume and then a character that simply has a color swap that focuses on fall colors. Due to having a Fox and a Scarecrow as a Mii Costume, these are not up for consideration. In addition to that, we are not allowing for model swaps or anything of that nature. We are simply changing the outfit the character wears with something more fall-festive. Keep note that all Recolor Costumes are Rare class while Alternate Costumes are Master.

When submitting, please provide the character and description of the alternate costume in regard to the first prompt and the alternate color for the second prompt.

A deep-cut alternate costume, the Inkling will change into a Rabbit, a species that curiously the Inklings got their start as. Rabbits are commonly associated in Japan with the moon and mochi, the latter of which is associated with the Japanese fall festival Tsukimi. To corroborate this, the rabbit will be in a thick yukata themed after squids.

Jack-O'-Phazon (Dark Samus Orange)
Based on pumpkins in general, Dark Samus will be a bright-orange with whitish-yellow streaks, aligning her colors to that of a jack-o'-lantern.

I truly appreciate your continued involvement. It seems people are only interested when it comes to characters and mii costumes. But that's fine! I was personally looking forward to doing this series of festivals as it adds more creativity and uniqueness to jobs than the usual run we do. Typically what happens is that if we don't get many submissions, I take care of it. With Infinite Beyond being less busy than Infinite, I would wager the project is 20% me and the rest of everyone else's content compared to Infinite which was 3% me and the rest everyone else.

I was personally looking forward to doing this series of festivals as it adds more creativity and uniqueness to jobs than the usual run we do. Typically what happens is that if we don't get many submissions, I take care of it. With Infinite Beyond being less busy than Infinite, I would wager the project is 20% me and the rest of everyone else's content compared to Infinite which was 3% me and the rest everyone else.

I wanted to contribute more here, but something happened awhile back and I ended up missing most of the work. I'm not sure I can just... jump into it, especially when I know next to nothing about what's going on.

Alternate Costume: Autumn Princess Zelda
This gives Zelda dark brown hair and puts maple leaves in her hair. Her circlet are twisted branches with a purple gem set within. Her robes are brownish in color and adorned with various leaves sewn into their fabric. The part of the model that has the triforce is a green sash adorned with yellow symbols similar to the triforce but has a dead tree instead. Her robe is also a green tunic. Her dress is notably shorter and extends only to the knee. She wears leather-based boots. While not visually based, here is an approximate appearance to Fall Zelda.

Alternate Colors: Autumnal Mario

This color scheme gives Mario an orange and brown scheme with an orange hat and shirt with brown overalls. His gloves are dark brown in color while the boots are more yellowish in color.

The Mii throw their hands into the air as leaves magically appear and flutter back down.

That is partially my fault. That being said, the Festivals are a bit more streamlined with a timeline attached to it. You can see our list of Festivals. You can see the lost of upcoming jobs due to us following the flow of content listed there pretty closely.

I also wanted to highlight both here and in the thread that we do have a number of festivals planned already... that are based on Christmas and Valentine's Day. Once we get past the Christmas Event, I will give some information on what to expect for the Mii'tacular Festival.

I do have some ideas for upcoming festivals for crossover events like how we had in Infinite's Spirit Event but in a larger scale.

Daisy gets her farmer costume from Mario Kart Tour.

Alternate Colors

2B gets an orange dress with pumpkin Jack O Lantern faces imprinted on it. Her blindfold and headband are red and yellow, respectively, to symbolize the colors of the harvest. Her boots are colored with patterns of hay.

I'm not sure if this counts but this is one of most well-known designs for Sora when he visits Halloween Town. So I thought this would be fitting in general for the festival of feasts.

Replaces the shirt of the default villager with this imfamous shirt you would have your outfit swapped with if you ran out of candy for villagers on Halloween in older Animal Crossing games.
