Sonic Tournament Results CHANGING THIS TITLE

i went to a biweekly today
i got fifth place
i dont know how many people were there. maybe 16
went mostly sonic, there was a scrub MK that i had to beat with lucario
i lost to the guys that got 2nd and 3rd.
the best pikachu on the east coast and the best MK in Rochester.
i did pretty good, and beat some people that didnt think I was good.
i just wish i could play better.
its so hard to play sonic...
why does he have to be so bad?
i wish MK wasnt so broken

08/07/08 all Sonic: 4th of 22, lost to 1st and 3rd placers
08/14/08:all Sonic :4th of 28, lost to 1st and rly random ROB xD
DBLS:Team Nubz: 3rd of 8th
08/21/08 all Sonic: 7th of 30, lost to 2nd and 3rd placers
DBLS:Team Nubz: 3rd of 5 (lost to teams with the top 4 placers, lol

Hopefully this makes the update, and there have been some talented brawlers coming that i've seen

hmmm, i don't think TEAMS should count on this thread, because in teams its SONIC + ????

it could be anyone and its not just SONIC doing the work, so i say no team results,


even tho i did get 1st in teams with sonic

and i now officially know how to beat those Annoying MK's

its so nice to only use sonic as my ONLY main, it gets me training for all his hard match ups :D

But true to the dbls, but my partner was random, killed me once in EVERY match save one, and stole one of my stocks to boot, so it was more along the lines of Sonic vs all 3, xD.
I think im 1st or second this week, i'll post the results thursday night

MK is indeed a hard match up for sonic but believe this while mk has little to no lag jus like sonic sonic without a doubt is stronger. i have stopped mk's berrage of attacks and down smashes witha guard then simply Ftilt. it rly puts a mk in it's place. plus a Dair is a great friend when playing mk's bc it overpowers mk's shuttle loops. dont think a spindash will make it a simple Dtilt from mk will surely knock you out of it. X...you know betr than that.

as for doubles, sonic has the ability to team with almost any character except projectile users. sonic will simply be left out of the fight in the background bc he must be in the fray to help and he's so fast he'll only run into your own teammates attacks

for match up exp. yes thats correct. how will you overcome something you dont give a chance. but that will then come down to a terrible disadvantage bc then it becomes the natural ability of both smashers as well added the priorty mk has. it wont be easy but is possible. you would have to excell 2 or three lvls above your opp. to pull it off lol

why dont you inform the rest of us, X if you believe youve found the magical secret to beating MKs. cus im desperate for that knowledge at this point. cus all the decent ppl in my area either main or second MK. and its starting to piss me off. personally i believe that that information doesnt exist, and at the chance of being rude to some of your friends, i have to say this. at this point i personally believe that if you are beating MKs you are playing scrubs. ive never heard of plank, or M2K, or even KingAce losing to Sonics and i highly doubt that i will anytime in the near future, if not, ever.

also, Memphis held his own tourney this past sunday, how did you place in that dude

I know the secret: don't get hit or analy *****. Not new, but p shieldgrabbing stops a fast mk's attack spamming. I've used it with mixed results, as im terrible at shield grabbing, and if your pushed, your a target. that, and in general, aeiral combat (IE: more than a few blows) equals Sonic-sandwhiches on a good mk's plate. If baited, shielded, grabbed, and punished, it SHOULD take a good mk out of their comfort zone. That gives good Sonics (X, 3000, ect) the chance to amaze, lol

at this point ive noticed something
i play sonic cause i dont like doing this...
but you really have to play as gay as possible...
f-air can hit through many of MKs attacks
f-tilt can beat his forward air and lots of his other moves
MK has a tiny shield so if you made him shield more than 3 attacks in the last 10 seconds (not p shielding) up smash will probably shield stab...
thats really all you can do against him, the rest of the match should be spent running away... youll proly time out the match but its a win... so idk
it makes my stomach hurt even contemplating that, but im tired of losing to them so idc anymore

Very good work Ice DX.
However, despite our tournament results being better than a hella lot of characters and all the work people have put in Sonic is 5th worst character in the game. (See SBR tier list)
Not that I actually care where he looks on a pathetic chart, it's just that Sonic as a character will now be ignored by a lot of other people thanks to his placement, and so his meta-game will grow at a much slower rate so other characters will actually be better than him.
Why make a list while characters meta-games are still developing? This is negative.
Conclusion : I believe the Smash BR are clueless.

oringinally i was sad cause i saw you were 33rd, but than i saw that it was out of 257 and now im pretty impressed, good job, and you did way better than tudor, who supposedly is like one of the top 3 samus players. and ROY, im sorry but dont kid yourself, it kills you to see sonics placing on the tier list, because in effect they are saying that we as sonic players arent even good enough to make him look better than yoshi. Be honest, if you really didnt care, you wouldnt bring in every post you make, it pisses me of too, if any of these BR guys had played you or me or X or 3000 or tenki, they would know better. it pisses me of to see it too, but that anger fuels me to up my game, and prove them wrong.

Of the colored names that I've played on wifi (I can't tell if they're in SBR or not), I've played against:

I only went about even with Snakeee. When I played against RyokoYaksa, I realized how much I didn't know about the Zelda/Sheik matchup (lol, tip given to me at the end: get U-smashed more XD) - I won a few, but he won considerably more. My router/connection was being stupid when I played with Panda, and it happened to be one of his first wifi games, so we both lagged to death.

The other 4 promptly ***** me with their respective chars (Diddy, Dedede, Marth, Zelda/Sheik).

SamuraiPanda shouldn't be a mod. He just knows Japanese, so most of the smash scene rides his ****. Emblem and AZ are cool, though.

Either way, the tier list is hella inaccurate, but it IS the first list, and released not even a year after the game, so it's going to have a lot of problems. All people can do is go and rep their characters. Shame Brawl is so lackluster as a fighter, since I'm fairly sure most the people that could bring up the more difficult to play characters either retired or play MK/Snake for the monies.

I mean, look at Azen with Lucario. Character is NOT that good, but because Azen ***** with him, he's up there.

It still stands that people who are better players will have better dodging/rolling patterns, mindgames, and move reading. It was fairly obvious that they were all considerably better than me.

Ryoko pulled a sweetspot chain **** on BF on WFC. `.`; That would have been impossible for me to break at all offline.
