We learned his origins in Shadow the Hedgehog, but, and correct me if I'm wrong (I tried to block out most of that game), we never learned how he survived. That's so stupid.
Actually during the fight between Devil Doom, if you're taking a long *** time, Eggman will admit that one of his robots found Shadow and he nursed him back to health.

Plus, there was more to that game that was bad than just Shadow having guns. Like, honestly, that ending was awful. I mean the FINAL ending (I'm ashamed to admit I actually spent time to get there). ZOMG! I was created by Black Doom! ZOMG! I have to beat him while he's huge! ZOMG! Now that I know my past I hate it and want to forget it! *Credits roll* The only good thing to come from that game was the credits theme, "Never Turn Back".
Are you sure you played the game, he never actually discover the past. Because it became so confusing to him, he decided to basically say "To hell with figuring it out" and move on with his life. In other words, he learned what Sonic have been doing for the past 16 years.

I didn't remember that. Or maybe I just didn't take long enough.

In any case, he would've been blood and tiny pieces of organs at that point. I'd say that still doesn't explain it...

Yes, I'm positive. I was traumatized by it. As I said, I don't remember much of it.

But he did discover his past. Remember, that Black Doom helped Professor Gerald create him? I thought that was the only past he was seeking.
In any case, I clearly remember him tossing aside a picture of Maria, if I recall correctly, at the end and basically saying "Screw this"...I thought it was just because he wasn't happy. I don't know. I blocked most of it out, and I played the game like, 2 years ago and beat it within a month. So I understandably don't remember a whole lot.

What exactly is this new "Storybook" theme everyone is talking about?

The last Sonic game I played was Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut!

If you play Secret Rings (which you shouldn't, don't waste your time), you'll see that the whole game starts with a genie summoning Sonic into the Arabian Nights storybook to save it from being destroyed. Every cutscene in the game is like a comic strip (except for one that looks really good), to resemble a storybook. I'm guessing that the same concept is true for this new game.

And if that's the last Sonic game you've played, do yourself a favor and pick up Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. Best 3D Sonic game in my opinion.

It's the Sonic series. Even Sonic himself survived great heights:

Sonic 2's ending
Beating Sonic and Knuckles without collecting all the Emeralds, Sonic was able to survive falling through the atmosphere. And he wasn't in his super form at the time
After the Tornado gets shot down in Sonic Adventure, Sonic lands head first into the beach before meeting up with Amy.
After Sonic defeat Chaos 6 in Sonic Adventure 1, he lands FACE FIRST into the Mystic Ruins and simply shook if off.

No he basically said 'screw this' when the alien larvae was about to eat him. And Gerald created Shadow to defeat Black Doom. Which he did? So why linger on the past when you accomplished your goal?

Its a new Concept for Sonic

Sonic finds some old Book and then Is teleported by some Human Girl. He then sees people from his world taking form of people in the Story Book world. Seceret Rings is based on the stories of One Thousand and One Nights so characters like Tails as Ali baba, Knuckles as Sinbad the Sailer and Eggman as King Shahryar.

This one has Sonic visiting the Storybook of King Arthur. The Ironic thing is King Arthur is his worst enemy the black knight.

That was a lot of Info taken off Wikipedia :p

^If you want that, go play some fangames.

No seriously, go find them. If it weren't for legal issues, they'd have that market CORNERED and all Sega would have to do is publish them.

Unfortunately won't solve the very stupid divide between Sonic fans :/

One Sonic Unleashed, coming right up.
Yeah, except it switches between sidescrolling and pure 3D. They ought to just make the entire game sidescrolling if they're really trying to appeal to longtime fans. And you know, maybe a little less werehog.

I think they can finally get a good thing going with sonic unleashed. The mix of straight 2-d gameplay and 3-d in other parts looked pretty good. But why do we need the whole warehog thing :[

I am glad that I am so easy-going with games. I even enjoyed shadow the hedgehog :S

Sonic Advance 1,2,3
Sonic Rush
Sonic Rush Adventure
Sonic Rivals
Sonic Rivals 2

I know, Sega sure has been lacking in the 2D Sonic game department. >_>
I think they meant for a console.

And I don't believe any of those were good except for Rush and the Advance games. I've not heard good things about Rush Adventure.

Lets just say that Werhog gameplay is a mixture of

Dynasty Warriors
Kingdom Hearts
and lots of black
Works for me. I enjoyed Kingdom Hearts and black is my favorite color. While I never played Dynasty Warriors, I do like tearing apart a bunch of mooks every once in a while.

Though, i must admit that the whole "Werehog" concept is a bit strange.:ohwell: Ah well, I'll most likely get used to it just like I got used to Brawl's roster.

I'm not gonna lie, a Sonic game for the Wii would be pwnage.
Um, where WERE you when Sonic and the Secret Rings came out for the Wii?

Even worse, people will idiotically compare it to Sonic 3 and Knuckles and then think the new game will suck because it didn't surpass S3&K.

and so far, the only reason people dislike Rivals because it's on the PSP

Dude, there's already one out (which sucks) and 2 more coming (which will also suck).
Sonic Unleashed might be good. But I agree that Sonic and the Secret Rings was a piece of crap. Sonic and the Black Knight, I doubt it will be great but I'll just have to wait and see. I"ll rent the game when it comes out to see if its good, though.

You likely heard it from 1994 losers. Rush Adventure beats Rush in polish, level design and bosses by far.

Possibly but
it has Sonic the werehog. That's fail IMO.
You shouldn't knock gameplay ideas before you've seen it in action. This is why casual/false Sonic fans fail.

Wow, an Eggman from the future turning people into cards? Silver's a main character? Sounds like a winner to me.

Also, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0PAXJFHMHw.

Just thought I'd share that, I thought it was hilarious.
It's Sonic plots what did you expect. EVen the original plots, save tiny animals from being batteries for robots, is farfecthed.

And I already seen that video.

Rush adventure was good, until you have to start playing the first few levels over and over to earn 'materials' from beating them to unlock more levels. If it didn't have that, I would have actually finished it.

Hm. Well, maybe I heard wrong about it.

In any case, I intend to get Rush at some time in the near future. I don't know about Rush Adventure. I got the impression it had RPG elements, and the last Sonic game that did that (Secret Rings) was bad, and that part if it was bad. Maybe I misheard this, but I could've sworn Nintendo Power said something about that.

I don't think they were batteries...but, okay, I suppose it was a little far-fetched. I'm not saying that turning characters into cards is far-fetched, I'm simply saying it's stupid. It sounds like Yu-Gi-Oh.

And okay, I was directing that video towards everyone.

sonic the black knight

so this might be old news but for the people that don't know they're making a new sonic game for the wii and sonic...is wielding a sword?!?! lol well yes...yes he is.

so im guessing for the next entry of smash (i know i know its far far away -_-) sonic is probably going to have a sword (hopefully!) and priority problems will be boosted up a bunch! even tho it still depends on the develepors of smash to give him the amount of priority n stuff but w/e....sonic with a sword is still pretty bada$$ so we'll see ^_^

oh! and knuckles is duel wielding and shadow has a weird sword that he makes from his mind O_o or idk i probably misunderstood lol
