Profile: Half Life was released in 1998 developed by Valve and published by Sierra Studios for Windows. The first title in the Half Life series, this 1998 first person shooter helped to change the FPS industry by having a non linear narrative with the world view being seen from one character all the time. The simple gameplay, advanced graphics, unique story and artifical intelliegence of NPCS helped to solidfy Half Life as a unique first person shooter game that has stood the test of time and has gone on to launch one of the highest rated FPS gaming series with each future title breaking new boundaries into experimental gaming technology. From the realistic physics engine of Half Life 2 to the virtual reality engine of Half Life: Alyx, none of those games would be possible without Half Life.
