You know what's weird about this leak? It takes mental gymnastics to believe it's fake, and it also takes mental gymnastics to believe it's real. Either way it's crazy. On the subject of Occam's razor, I don't think it really applies here. Both positions require a similar amount of assumptions. Neither is really a simpler option than the other.

Is the ESRB all over again, the exact same patterns.
Whenever a leak that is very pausible, this happens.

There's no need to assume that anything else in the leak other than the roster is fake; it's entirely possible someone who works as a graphic designer at a real company used their position to make a fake leak. Suggesting that anything else has to be necessary is strawman-ing.

And they also had to have known about the Chadondorf thing, unless it's just a huge coincidence that everything lines up but I doubt it.

True, but that also assumes that this presumably 50-something year old Frenchman cares about fooling nerds on the internet, and would spend all of this time making a convincing fake. Then you could go on to say that it isn't the same person at the company but then we go back to someone having faked their identity to leak a fake Smash roster.

There are parts of the background that were altered that are not only behind characters. The cloud above Luigi's and Bayonetta's head has always been present, yet is altered on the leak and the background. The castle behind Zelda's hand also was altered/just not present in the leak but always visible on the banners. The most important thing is, this leaker payed attention to the most minute of details, like the length of Geninja's tongue (which you can barely see sticking out from behind Snake's missle launcher in the current banner) but didn't see the obvious clouds and castles that were visible? These are just two examples, there are other alterations that are not hidden behind characters.

Trust me, I'm not denying that the background isn't different, but people are assuming the background can't be different, and I'm not on board with that assumption.

That's exactly why it's weird to me. I totally see both sides. Neither one is simple to believe.

Has anyone ever asked why a fake leaker would show a faulty background picture? I mean, if I would be able to redraw it, draw all the characters, assemble them and make a fake mock up, I would never show my background which I had to guess parts off just to be proven false because of it.

No, I would just show my finished mural with my leaked characters, make it a post and just would throw it out. This bugged me for a very long time. If you had to guess parts of the empty mural, why show it in your leak if you literally can leak a picture of anything you want.

This is something that a lot of people don't seem to get. A clean version was not known about to a very large amount of people, so most people assumed one simply didn't exist publically. As a Fake leaker, it's not a bad assumption to assume having a blank background would help with legitimacy because, as far as they knew, it never existed in the public eye and, if it were to ever exist, it would be after the Leak has served it's purpose. Most people already assumed one existed internally due to the way the mural has been handled thus far. If we never found that Blank mural, I guarantee "It has the empty version of the mural, so it has to be legit" would be a very common argument for it.

It's only because of this leak that the blank version is now public knowledge and it took A LOT of digging to find. In turn, when comparing began a vast majority of the differences exist behind characters that have never been seen on any mural released thus far.

I would be incredibly pleased if the Grinch leak was true, even though none of the characters were super high on my wishlist.

Geno and Mach Rider would be really cool just because I want to see how they fight and what Sakurai would do with them. I’m a sucker for reviving old characters, so I’d be excited to see them fight and just exist in a big budget new game.

Banjo-Kazooie is my brother-in-law’s most wanted character, so I’d be happy for him. Also would be nice to round out the N64 era.

Chorus Kids and don’t have a bring impression on me, but Rythym Heaven should have some rep in this game, and I think they are the best pick for that. Isaac also isn’t someone I really care about, but the fans have been waiting so long, it’d be good to see their reactions.

Papageno isn't the leaker. He's the leaker's messenger. He claims that the leaker who told him this who I'm assuming is Vergeben, considering PapaGeno says this leaker is one he trusts for his reputation, and if we knew who it was we'd probably trust him too and he's just telling everyone what the leaker told him, but keeping the leaker anonymous.

Everyone wants it to be true seeing as how for the past month the entire thread's attitude was in favor of the Box Leak, or at the very least, Vergeben.

With this we get way more than most were really expecting.

I've seen some say they don't want it to be true because it's missing their specific #1 want but that's mostly beggers being choosers, if this leak turns out true the community should have nothing to complain about

Honestly, I would be more excited for other people than myself. The only character that I really wanted out of these 7 is Shadow. A lot of my most wanted wouldn't be in, and the vast majority of them actually have decent shots (just look at my signature).

I am happy that it suggests more than 2 characters like the box theory, which is far worse than this leak, but in either case the only major characters I get from all of these newcomers are Ridley and possibly Shadow. K Cool, Isaac, and Banjo are minor/more recent additions to my wants, so I really wouldn't mind if they didn't get in.

-It means everything. It means he's the most likely culprit of the leak. Thus far, there's been nothing to come up that clears him from being the guy who did it. Doubly so when you consider that the leak had to be taken from the phone of someone name Eric Bricard.

It means nothing. It hasn't been verified by anyone that this man is involved. It's just someone's name on a piece of paper. If you are going to assume it's him you also have to assume he is an idiot for doing this. I operate on the belief that people do not lack common sense. You should also stop using the name. More people don't need to know about it.

Also I have skimmed /v/ many times over the past few days and haven't seen anything resembling the image you claim exists.

Look Emily, your a great person, but you can’t just show up after contributing absolutely nothing since Ultimate’s reveal and suddenly think you can call this on your merit.

I'm not going to Say this as #teamreal, but I would be pleased if it were true. Even without DLC there's at least at least 4 I really like. 3 i'm neutral about. And one I dislike.

I switched to #teamreal for a very lousy reason, before more evidence started popping up.

Hell I ****ing would.

I'll admit, about 10 years ago, I jumped on the bandwagon for Ridley, K. Rool, Isaac and Geno during Brawl days. Jumping on this bandwagon caused me to play Golden Sun, SMRPG, get into Metroid and the DKC series respectively, and ever since then I've wanted all 4 characters in the game. I grew up on Banjo and Kazooie, so the prospect of possibly hearing Banjo and Kazooie's incredibly stupid talking while laughing my ass off playing smash is nothing new.


Then we got Ultimate, and both K. Rool and Ridley were announced, I thought "holy hell, 2 out of the 5 biggest desired nopes got into smash ludicrously easy, thats amazing!"

Then this freaking leak came out. Honestly....I have not slept well the past few days staying up and looking at all the posts about it.

To get the other 3 would kill me. I'd have no words. And the fact that it might be real just says something.

It was. The problem is that the only public record of the full mural appeared for less than half a second on a 4 hour stream. Again, most people did not know of it's existence because of that.
