Due to a wonderful invention called a 'slider', this isn't really a yes/no question.

In absence of a sliding scale from "Music" to "SFX", I default to "On".

No, the entire point of the discussion was MUSIC OFF so that SOUND EFFECTS could be heard clearly.

Condog! The question asks specifically for music to be switched off. Completely!

LOL Deks!

^nah, next up - ban the timer cos its distracting, use stopwatch instead
Yeah, if you move your eyes towards the timer, Snake may sticky you with a C4, less competitive. If you found $50 and $20 on the ground, would you take the $20? Turn timer off.

Do you guys know how to not troll?

next up: deflicker on or off?
SO glad you asked that.

There is NO reason to have deflicker off when running Brawl on a CRT. In the unlikely (but possible) event where someone has sensitive eyes, with deflicker off, the flicker may effect their gameplay.

The unlikely (but possible) situation where someone has a problem with background music being played shouldn't be notable enough to create an entire poll.

I mean, seriously. Even when you guys suggested it, it should've been clear where the majority sided (I haven't read the original posts and not going to bother wasting my time). Was it *really* necessary to waste space in our precious forum to answer such a blatantly obvious question? Is there even anyone outside of Perth who advocates for no music...?

There is NO reason to play Brawl when Melee is available. In the unlikely (but possible) event where someone prefers Brawl, with Melee available, the sheer quality difference will cause serious depression.

There is NO reason to play Smash competitively when real life is available. In the unlikely (but possible) event where someone prefers Smash, with real life available, the loss of dignity will be devastating to their self esteem.

Judging from that post I'd say that he doesn't know how to troll.

Anyway on a more serious point, I would like to point out a serious problem that detracts from the competitive experience of all attendees, whether they realise it or not.

I have sensitive skin that is agitated by light. As a result, I propose the following changes that will allow myself, and other competitors, whether they realise it or not, to compete at a higher level.

1. No light. All television displays must be off. All windows must be blacked out. No lights will be turned on.

2. No in game music. The audio slider must be set to SFX only. As music has a proven ability to stimulate and engage a player, it can interfere with my condition. SFX only minimises the stimuli provided by the environment and allows the battle to operate in a balanced environment.

3. No speech. As crowds and just general speech is distracting in a competitive environment, all communication must occur via signs. For convenience, each competitor is provided with 3 signs, on which they may communicate any message they want.

Even though my problem could be solved without interfering with the experience of all the other attendees by me covering up my skin with clothing, I think that my methodology would provide a better competitive experience to all those attending.

i'm trying to come up with what i'll put on my 3 signs, which i assume will be in braille as noone will be able to read without any light.
I was thinking "wombo combo"
"happy feet"
and "****"

i'm pretty sure that'll cover most bases.

I don't think I've ever seen a more one-sided poll.

Give it up, Perth.

I voted music on, HOWEVER I believe it should come down to a coin toss if one person wants in off and one person wants it on
Seems logical. I'll agree to this.

I believe music johns is probably the lowest form of john. If anyone was to insist upon it I'd probably argue to keep it on just to spite them, so a coin toss is probably the fairest/simplest way to go.

Hey at least this thread gives more stuff to read/talk about. Better than refreshing pages that have nothing new written in them :)

I voted off simply because theres no reason to have it on. Either way I dont really care :p
