Hey, any idea when the next one will be? It would be great if there were a tourney somewhere around early/mid July, as I'm planning to visit a friend in Melbourne around that time. I posted a while ago, but it kinda got lost in the hype of the leadup to the tourney just gone.

We don't decide the dates for the tournaments, pretty sure couch warriors does. They're mostly on the last weekend of every month though.

Lame. Can you prod them in any way? ; ) My last exam is on Fri 29/6, so chances are I couldn't make a tourney on the 30th. I've got July off, but 28/7 would also not be preferable, since I was hoping to go somewhere else the week of 23-27. But if it gets organised on the 28th then I'll probably go to AnCon for Mon-Tue or something, then come down to Melb.

On a related note, the friend I'm visiting would be interested in coming too. He's not very good - I'm pretty sure he'd come last, but I'm sure he'll still have fun. However, the main challenge this poses is that my friend is in a wheelchair. Does the venue have disabled access at all?

Would be good if I can get this sorted in the next week or so, so I can book flights etc, and make sure everything is sorted before my exams.

Something I think needs to be seriously discussed: the case for third seed between Melbourne's three second-tier players.
(Nothing personal - strictly business.)

March:
Atticus loses to Dekar and Toshi.
Redact loses to Epic and Atticus.
Toshi loses to Atticus and Dekar.

May:
Atticus loses to Dekar and Cao.
Redact loses to Dekar and Cao.
Toshi loses to Atticus and Cao.
Notably, Haikal upsetting Cao gives Redact a free ride to winners finals while I have to play Cao to get into losers semis.

Overall 2012 head-to-head (sets):
Atticus 1-0 Redact
Atticus 2-1 Toshi
Redact 0-0 Toshi
Only loss from any of us to anyone outside top 5 was Redact's loss to Epic in March.

I think I should be the third seed at the next tournament, and you would have to reach well beyond half a year to find any evidence for seeding Phil over me. Even if you went strictly by average placing despite the above, it's Toshi who would have the best case.

the seeding debate is interesting. i found haikou (sp?) to be the 2nd hardest player, redact 3rd. i don't know, it seems a bit tough to pass judgements based on such a small sample size of data. perhaps you guys can randomize the 3rd seed spot until your results become clearer?

I mostly argue the seed thing as a matter of principle, and I think in the long term a more objective system would be appropriate (maybe some kind of weighted average placing). Having brought Dekar to the brink of defeat twice in a row now I think my chances would actually be better on the top side of the bracket.
