Hey guys, I don't seem to find any pictures about each movement's hitbox for our great DK.
Does anyone have that ? Or there is a topic I haven't seen ?

Thanks Griffin ! But I prefer pictures because I'm making a guide to play DK in French :)
So I've done the picture myself with the code I found in a thread ^_^

Would you like a thread with all the pictures ?

To Terra : In my opinion, ISRJ is not really viable (maybe you can use it to avoid bananas on the ground but it's limited because it's only feasible with the Fair, isn't it ?
GFSC can be good to use, but personnaly, I can't cast a Fsmash because the opponent gets out too quickly à 90%...

Hello all. I'm fairly new to Brawl, been really playing since Nov/Dec of last year, and I'd really like to get into the competitive scene. I main Lucario, and though I am starting to get the hang of things, there are a few match ups I've run into that are just really annoying and I'd rather avoid, especially Marth and Olimar. I've tried playing around as Olimar for a week or two to become familiar with him, but I still really suck when it comes around to fighting him. I've also been playing around/watching vids with DK a lot recently. My question is, you guys think DK would be a viable secondary for these specific mus?

DK gets wrecked by Oli's spam and pivot grabs. not a good CP.

DK/Marth is really even. Marth has the tools to shut down all of DK's moveset, but DK has so many different things he can do that Marth has to guess correctly what DK's going to do.

there are definitely better CP's for those MU's. like MK.

But MK isn't nearly as fun as Dk.. Oh well, I guess I'll just get really good with my main and save Dk for messin around.

I actually didn't do too bad against my only real Olimar experience, which is surprising. Especially because he was certainly better than I was, generally. Then again, he probably didn't know the match-up :p

What's the Yoshi Island trick called where DK get's invincibility on his up B?
Link's jab can stop this at the beginning of when DK starts it and I think some other moves do this too. Why is that?

Also would Link's jab still stop it mid way through?

One last question :p With Dk's Cargo, what's the properties with that? He get's super armour right? But it seems like we were able to be hit.

Silfa and I were thinking in teams of somehow using that to our advantage or some kind of taunt .

I guess I'm not sure WHY it happens.... but in the beginning of spinning kong in the air he gets a few frames of invincibility. If you transfer from the air to the ground while he's invincible, he stays that way. Same thing happens if you do a grounded one to aerial one (except that supplies super armor, and has different timing ofcourse).

I'm guessing link's jab cancels it the same reason projectiles do.. at least most do (anything without transcendent priority if i recall). It's just clanking with the spinning kong hitboxes, and cancels it out. I think I read a while back that aerials can't knock him out of the invincible trick... only grounded attacks. (maybe that was obvious with the whole clanking thing)

With the cargo throw, I'm not sure either, but I think it takes x amount of damage to knock you out of it with a single blow. Jab won't hit you out, but a fsmash will. Not sure if it's got to do with knockback, or damage really, but I don't imagine there's a huge difference

That was probably way too long and drawn out of an explanation :p

DK only has invincibility on frame 4-6 of his aerial upB and if he gets grounded during those frames he'll keep invincibility until the move ends... so you can hit DK on frame 1-3. Not sure if he can have full invincibility if he does it as soon as he can move again after grabbing the ledge...

DK has heavy armor on his cargo carry. He can be grabbed out of it (:() and only weak attacks won't stop him.

Also if they hit you with a move that does 14% or more (like some fsmashes) they can hit you out of it, so be careful.

But it's still good to get back on the stage.

If you still have your double jump you can use that after they spike you to recover pretty quickly (which is called meteor canceling). If you don't have a double jump or the spike is too strong there is no way to recover unless you get hit into the stage and tech/wall jump.

Welcome to smashboards and thanks for using this thread instead of making a new one like most new guys do.

If you have tap jump on you can mash up on the control stick to double jump as soon as possible.
If you do it with a other jump button you aren't allowed to press too early (because you won't be able to jump for a while if you do).

I was messing around and I was wondering if we could grab release Wario and just grab him again? Or maybe pivot grab (i think DK is too slow to do the pivot grab).

I believe Ike has an infinite chain-release grab on Wario, Ike re-grabs with the pivot grab I think it was one-two frames perfect.

So can DK do the same thing?

I'm having issues coming from air to ground while facing my opponent. Is there any standard or uh, safer move to be using?

punch is good if you have one. If you can get behind them bair is good. If you can predict a shield grab side b is amazing because it stalls you above their grab and you bury them.

edit: Pit vs DK is probably Pit's advantage.

unlikeley. Pit has low killing power and DK is heavy. he lasts until 180%-200% while pit lasts to 90%-100% DKs range makes camping the only option for pit. Pit only gets the upper hand if he punishes DK into the air, without getting Baired of course
