Does mashing really help get out of shield-breaks? I know that the higher the % the shorter you're stunned, not that it really effects gameplay... What a silly mechanic
you CAN get out of shieldbreaks in like 2 seconds, if you can mash really fast.
it wont save you if you are in kill percent for a fully charged smash, but if you are at a very low percent vs snake, its definitely worth it since he might not have enough time to set up a wargasm combo

I saw Cable do a grab release to upsmash on Wario in a match. Is there any other characters he can do that on, or any other grab release combos? Also any upthrow or upcargo combos known?

I don't think dk has many grab release combos, but there's some on wario. The particularly useful ones are upsmash & a fully charged punch. Just make sure you air release him.
I don't really know about anyone else, but i assume we don't have many, if any, grab releases on anyone else.

We have cargo grab release's on Ness and Lucas. Also if you are on the moving platform of smashville and it is going the direction you are facing we have a grab release on a lot of people if not everyone.

I know about the Ness and Lucas, but what about the platform on Smashville? Can you explain that one?

Is there a way to guarantee this, or is it just about predicting whether he will do this or not?
From what I understand you can force an air-release by not pummeling them. You can do a few pummels at the beginning. But if they break out while you are pummeling they will not air release.

If you grab someone while you are on the platform on smashville AND the platform is moving in the direction that you are facing. I.E. you are facing left and the platform is moving left you can air release them and do a follow up attack. This is possible because the platform is moving you forward towards the person who is air released while you are doing the grab release animation. So you do not have to run up to them to attack just let the platform do the work :)

air releases only happen if you aren't currently pummeling them AND their feet aren't on the ground. DK is a tall character so this usually isn't a problem.

against ness and lucas just cargo them and turn around. When they break it's a free down smash.

Hey everyone, I'm a DDK main that decided I wanted to second the bigger kong, and wanted to greet you guys. My first official questions are here:

1. Although this won't change me playing the crap outta him, do you think that (if you're knowledgable) Donkey Kong will compliment Diddy Kong well as a secondary?

2. Where exactly is Donkey Kong's side-B ungrounded sweet spot? Where will it spike?

3. Would it be possible to use DK's side-B to spike a recovery like sonic's or Game and Watch's? Is it realistically viable?

If you hit with the side b while in the air it WILL spike. To use the spike against peoples recoveries is realistic depending on the character. I would not use it against G&W cause he can stage spike you if get the timing wrong.

MK, diddy, wario, DDD, olimar?, falco?
something like that, and i think that IC's can be tough since its very hard for DK to not get grabbed

So I used the search function, and found out that dk can dthrow grab zss like 3-4 times.
smashwiki also says that you can down throw chain grab heavy characters like snake or something.

it also says kirby? and i've seen people do cgs on other characters. can anyone tell me other characters i am missing? i can't seem to find any.

That might be the most intelligent 1st post ever. Which makes sense coming from someone named Kaoculus.

As far as chain grabs go I'm not sure if they're even true at all with down throw. Unless you're on the moving platform of smashville you can standing down throw people at low %'s repeatedly if you're facing the direction the platform is moving. I've heard tales of down throw into buffered dash grabs being chain grabs at low %'s on zss and pikachu, but that's all I know really because I've never tested it.

If they are lightweight and have enough gravity to be forced to land, then the Dthrow can at the very least psuedo-CG (you might be able to CG, but the timing would be ridiculously hard). If you read their spot dodge then you can do whatever you want and if they don't spot dodge you grab them again. If they have some quick jab or something then it gets more difficult to abuse. If DK's dash grab wasn't crap he would have the maniest CG in the game.

I do like to mix in grabs after down throws if they try shielding your usual tilts afterwords. If they start spot dodging just grounded up b them or down b. If they try jumping and you're really feeling it go for the hyphen up smash after a downthrow or uair.

Basically down throw *****. Cargo up and down throws are also really good too. Cargo down throw for stage control from any grab, and cargo up throw for frame traps with up air to set up good juggles.

Just a humorous question, but how broken would it be if you could chain side-b's together?

Think about it, after hitting someone into the ground with a side-b, you could continue to hit them with side-b and they'd stay in the ground, continually racking up damage with each headbutt but unable to escape until you stop.

It'd be like a pseudo-chaingrab, but even better!

If you perfectly space G&W's b-air will it outrange DK's bair and hit through? My experience tells me no, but maybe?

DK's bair slightly outranges it, but it isn't disjointed so if he whiffs you can hit him from pretty far away.

i kinda have two questions:

1. What's a recommended situation to finish off a player with UpSmash?

2. Also just out of curiosity, what's dk's popularity in tournaments?

to 1. You can hit tall characters like Snake, Ganon, Bowser, Lucario and Samus while they stand, pull it off if they are on a platform above you (ex.: Battlefield or Smashville, you can charge it for mindgames, too.) or just do a empty short hop, fast fall, wait for the airddoge and punish that with usmash.

to 2. idk, I guess he´s not that popular.

Sometimes I surprise people by running after them while invincible from loosing a stock and doing an upsmash. it looks like I'm going to dash attack or copter so they jump to avoid it and get hit by the upsmash instead. There's also the Wario grab release.

I really don't think DK is popular, but I could see some other characters as less popular such as Puff, Bowser, Sheik and Yoshi. I don't know any of these communities but these are characters I hear about less than DK.
