i remember playing online a couple months back, this one ike user would never leave the ground, nd always use fsmash as an edgeguarding technique, don't ask why.

Is it worth trading damage if I super armor'd thru that slash with a charge punch?

Punch nearly does 30 damage. So unless they're doing more it's always worth it or unless you're already pretty far behind and you just can't afford that extra 20some percent.

if i was coming in from offstage and he was at the ledge waiting, and this scenario occured, what would happen If i reverse punched? would he get sent back into the stage like normal, or will he actually be shot off the stage?

If you b reversed the punch yes, your momentum would shift and you would be shot offstage and possible die lol. However if you tap right first, then b, DK will pivot in the air and then punch while still DI-ing left.

Try to master which type of punch to use in which situation =)

Edit: Also, if you have the punch spaced properly already you are probably going to want to just pivot first, then punch. If you want to make up for a little space, b reverse punch is optimal.

Tips on consistently doing the extended invincibility frames on YI and LC?
On YI try to start upB at different heights, once you have the right one it should be really easy to do.

Not sure if you can do it on Lylat, and even if you can, it's reeeeally difficult since you'd have to wait for a specific angle and everything... <_<

I have never been able to do it on LC, but have done it on Yi, Picto, RC, and brinstar.

I ledge drop dj, and up b. It took me about 30 minutes of straight practicing before I got the timing down. But now its all just muscle memory.

You can do it pretty much anywhere with a slant. I've done it on one of the island parts of delfino before up the sloped sand.

Ok, you guys might know this, but I thought is was pretty cool. On RC after you have gone all the way around and the stage it falling back onto the ship, if you upb, your upb will not rise but fall and you will land on the ship just fine.

where does that occur exactly? IIRC, the platforms don't vanish so I can't imagine DK descending on an aerial copter.

this happens when RC is transitioning from the top of the stage to the ship, when the stage is falling down fast onto the ship is when it is most noticeable.

Basically DK's up b was designed to move relative to the stage (or camera?). If the stage is moving up, your up b goes higher than usual (saved me many times in RC). If the stage goes down fast enough, your up b will actually sink instead of going up.

Welcome to smashboards and thanks for using the Q&A thread instead of making a new one.

I don't think there is a video of it. IIRC Ook did make a video of how cargo releasing is different when you face the opposite direction you grabbed from. Basically you grab them, cargo hold, turn around once, and then just wait. They will automatically DI behind you so you have to turn around to grab him. If you are too slow they can spot dodge to escape. If he DI's inside you you can just grab him without turning around. It boils down to following where they DI and grabbing ASAP.

It is really cheap and whoever you are doing it on will probably get mad (just a heads up). I personally wouldn't do it if I were you, unless the other guy really deserves it.

Never really plan on doing it, but how much of a time-frame do you have to do this anyway?

looks at Big O
Lol. Anyways, you get 11 frame advantage from cargo releasing him and his spot dodge is invincible on frame 13 (from when you regain control), so you have a five frame (+ buffering) window.

It is also in my frame data thread. I should probably spruce it up, but I just don't feel like doing it. Pretty busy (and lazy) atm.

I could help you "spruce" it up, I could make .gif files of all of DK's moves. and i guess we could do it with and without hitboxes too.

That sounds pretty nice lol. I think we should probably fix his Bair and down b hitbubbles before we upload the pics. There's also always that second video that never happened lol. I remember going back to try and fix DK's Bair/down b hitbox without any success, but maybe this time we will see where we went wrong/how to fix them. Maybe my PSA was buggy, but any time I edited the sizes of the hitbubble for Bair they always grew with his legs (even with a corrective cut to size). Maybe your better than I am at it now too ;)

I actually have really wanted to make a new DK guide, but only after I feel like it would be the best and from the best DK player. After all who wants to read an "ultimate" guide from someone who hasn't proven himself (or herself). I have been having all these random eureka moments lately, so maybe it won't be too far off. Tech skill is getting better too out of nowhere lol (like ledge teching random stage spikes every now and then instead of never).

Souds good, I have been working on Luigi's hitboxes and finished them (without scalling corrections) if you did not see them. So I should be able to have more input now then when we started.

I saw what you did for Luigi. I'll probably have free time after this crazy wave of schoolwork dies down. Maybe we could try again then.

Also thanks for the offer to help ardirok. I might do something in a couple of months.

Summer Project?
I don't have any school work this summer. I also don't think whatever I'm going to work on can be considered a "project" since that implies lots of commitment and some big results. It may get big, but I doubt it.

To answer the Fox related question, Utilt OoS. You probably could have Dsmashed OoS too since he was just doing SH Dair all day. Also mash faster lol (during shield break). I was surprised the DK got KO'd from that.

Does mashing really help get out of shield-breaks? I know that the higher the % the shorter you're stunned, not that it really effects gameplay... What a silly mechanic
