why say critiques are welcome if you're just going to say you werent playing serious? lol

Anyway, it looked like you lacked overall control over sheik and lacked speed on top of what cross said.

ok i rewatched em. and i have to say theres no metagame at all. you need more needle cancels. because when you charge your needles you just throw them right away. so there that anticipation to your opponent that your going throw needles. vanish gliding is very good for mindgames. and tether more to ledge hop.more fair fakes and like i said more foxtrots. learn true pivot if you want your game to be even better. once you get better at all that. become more aggressive.

Really? You advise learning true pivot before things like chain control, b-reversed needle cancel fairs (@2:23 in the olimar match this would have been extremely useful), and DACUS? It seems like a potentially useful tech, but not as much as the ones I just mentioned. On that note how do you use true pivot, cross? I've been wondering how I would incorporate it into my game.

while i am slowly realizing some of the benefits of the chain, i do not think it is as useful as true pivots, DACUS.

B-reverse needle cancel fairs while being useful in some situations, are not essential

the purpose of true pivoting is used as a bait for aggression. pivot reverse grabbing can also be used in a similar way to get fake and get behind an opponent, but is dangerous because sheik's, while looking like it goes quite a distance, is actually stopped fairly easily by character frames. So in order to properly implement it one must usually run towards them and power sheild to get close enough to grab them from behind with it.

Excuse me? I keep seeing words used in ways that don't make any sense at all.

I saw a really late reaction dsmash, a whiffed grab that was clearly mistimed by a mile, and I stopped watching.

I am tentatively willing to watch a Wifi match and attempt to critique it - if both players are playing with the full knowledge of the input lag. When I see people trying to play on reaction on Wifi, I know that their actual playstyle isn't being represented in any accurate form at all.

Ok, that does seem resonable.

Not to sound too rude. I going for just bareablely rude here... I guess...

Matches like that one are why my friends and I don't take wifi seriously at all. the input lag (and often times lag) are enough to mess up anything bassed on reaction which is why you see a lot of characters whose game isn't reaction bassed doing well, Pit the Wifi king for example. Din fire become much more powerful when you need to guess in order to dodge it. ect. ect.

Normally it is difficult for me to take people who only play wifi seriously because they fail to understand that we are pretty much playing different games.

I disagree, wifi is not a different game then offline within proper connection. If the connection is good enough then there's a lot of things you can do upon reaction. From what I've played offline the only difference I've notice is that the game is faster, people live longer, and the margin between the good players and the not so good is more clear overall

With that all said the game is meant to be played offline and wifi ranking should never matter since connection isn't guaranteed to be the same for both parties it should only be used for friendlies as you look for people who you have a good enough connection with that allows you to play a fairly reactive game. Since I started playing smash I've been largely reaction based as such my sheik is amazingly better in good connections, that and I most likely try more because I can do more.

I would go as far as to say that both parties having the same connection is rare.

They say thay Everyone has the same ammount of lag on wifi. ( The people who play competativly online and win say that ) I say otherwise.

A few months ago I Three stocked Stealth Raptor in a Pikachu dittos match. It was a serious match too ( as serious as online matches can get anyway )

In that game, The framerate was slow, but it was very consistent, and there wasnt really any button lag at all. I was essentially playing in slo-mo.
However, it was obvious that Stealth was suffering from some serious input lag and junk.

On the flop side, Im convinced Ive got the disfavorable connection whenever I play one of my friends.
I was playing and the lag so bad, the framerate was wigging out. Fast, and slow, and fast, and slow, With lag spikes and input lag to boot.
Instead of actually trying to work aginst the lag Which would probably be suicidal. I decided my best chance was to back off and spam, Because Spam is nearly impossible to deal with in that sort of lag.
But that didnt work, Because my friend was able to power sheild every one of my Tjolts PERFECTLY!
I belive I ended up getting 3 stocked that match.

It sucks though, All the people I play INSIST that online is impartial.
This is actually a bit of a releif posting here and seeing that nobody is taking it seriously.

Uh Ankuko... don't you find it foolish to tranform when the foe is so close? It almost cost you the match.

i love ankoku's style. but i don't like changing to Zelda. period. no matter if the odds are against you . i search for the sweet spot on the usmash. which is almost as easy as zelda doing usmash. or have sheik do some chain games. but i'm a vanish *****. and i do vanish games like 3 times in a row then mix it up with a fsmash. but thats if they are at killing percentage. i think vanish can replace zeldas killing ability. thats if you can predict them really well off map. thats just me. don't criticize my opinions. im not saying your way is not good. i just like my way better imo. everyone has there own way of having fun.

Yeah, I prefer Sheik too, but I also want to keep my options open and to do that I really want to at least get my Zelda to be competent.

=( I frowned at 2nd video when at 0 and then in teen early teen percentages with decay you ftilted. You should of used the jabs or the dsmash after the ftilt if at all in those %'s.

With that said I did enjoy the first video greatly especially with how you were just walking around at times, something I should do myself more often.

Me vs Tyrant and MikeHaze + other vids

Hey everyone. These r just some of the vids I recorded during our smashfest on 5/14/09. It features some of the best players in SoCal so they are pretty cool and fun matches.

I stop playing since march so it been a while since I bust out my Sheik. Just a little something something for every1.

btw, Tyrant is number 4 in socal and mikehaze is number 7 in socal. Both r west coast top players.

i stop laying this game since January. This was just a smashfest that was near me so I decided to attend it with some other smashers.

I thought I play pretty well on those vids. I read a lot of stuff they were doing and punish it. Then again, we were all having fun so we were just messing around during part of the matches.

Oh I wasn't trying to say you did bad, not at all. I was just pointing out you haven't improved a whole hell of a lot like some of us have.

they were freaking close games though. ninjalink from rob to diddy. he planned to use rob the whole tournament i hear. so he went to diddy. because i almost beat his rob. then i almost beat his diddy and did that **** dair off the map xD my pools were stacked. i couldnt get out of em. some people that i easily 2 stock at the tourney got out of there pools. cause they weren't stacked. they moved me from a pool that the only person i had to worry about was lobos. but i got that match up down.

I thought I remember reading that Sheik had a guaranteed boost smash followup from an air grab release on Metaknight. If that's correct, you should use it. I saw some situations where your opponent was at a high percent and you could have punished him with a grab->release->boost smash, but didn't.

I'm not one to complain about the dacus difficult but the grab release on meta knight into tipper dacus isn't exactly easy since you have to wait for Sheik cool down upon the grab before you can enter the command, do it too soon and you wont have enough time input the command again to hit meta knight, do it too late and you will hit meta knight with the side hit usmash which is worst then missing completely since you have to wait another 15%+ before you can attempt to kill with the usmash again.

i took one off kadaj besides the point. lol im just saying the games were close. that was like my first tournament too. so playing against pros like that and doing decent. is pretty good imo. i have no tournaments in my town. so those were the only people i played with irl.
