In other news, I think I've figured something out about who I am as a player, and why I'm not improving like I'd like to. If I had to sum up my playing style into one word, it would be reactive. By this, I mean that the majority of what I do is determined by what my opponent does. An extension of this is trying to figure out what his mindgames are and simply work around them. The problem with this is that I don't think I'm proactive enough as a player; I don't do much baiting and I don't set many traps. Does anyone have suggestions about how I can move past this?

Develop your own mindgames and put them to practice before your opponent gets a chance to. "Your" techniques would be a good place to start with that, imo.

Find what tools you can use to force your opponent into doing specific things. If you're good at reacting, make your opponent do certain things that you know you can react to. Pikmin Toss is a great, basic way to create pressure and cause your opponent to fall into a trap. Set up a playstyle that your opponent has to play a certain way to get around, and then counter their playstyle. Know their options and be ready to react to them before or while they're doing it.

Also: I'm watching Noa's videos v. Peach because I'm still VERY nervous about that matchup, and it seems like every time he tries to go for a nair->usmash Peach just nairs out of it. Does that not work on her?
