Advisory Notice: The creation of alternate accounts to cast more costs, submit more content, or otherwise cheat the system is not only against the thread rules but also will earn an account ban for that alternate account as well as a warning on the original account.

Welcome to Project MvC4!

For those unaware, I run a small little project called Super Smash Bros. Infinite Project where we try to create a Smash game using Ultimate as a basis. It’s been pretty successful and I’ve been fine tuning how we do things on the thread such as submitting characters and content.

As a huge fan of Marvel vs Capcom, Infinite (no correlation to Super Smash Bros. Infinite lol) left a sour taste in my mouth. I loved the game, both in gameplay and visuals, but I still felt it lacked in some ways. One of my biggest beefs was in the roster so I thought it would be fun to do some role play and design our own sequel, Marvel vs Capcom 4. Much like in the Infinite project, we will be doing jobs which all has a prompt on how to submit content. After submissions end, we will go in and then vote on what content to include.

In comparison to the SSB Infinite Project, this will be slightly less packed as we will be focusing on several key aspects for the game:

  • The roster
    • We will also be adding particular moves and Hyper Combos
    • In addition, we will also be including miscellaneous content like alt costumes, taunts, and such.
  • The stages
  • The mechanics and modes
  • And anything else we can think of to enhance the experience
When new content is added, we will include it here in the main post. If you wish to help out with the project such as helping with counting votes, issuing out jobs, and categorizing and archiving content, please let me know by PMing me.

The Roster

We will be revealing a total of five characters from both Marvel and Capcom within our reveal trailer which is set to air on E3 2021. This means we will be adding a total of 10 characters for this reveal. There will be three returning fighters from both Capcom and Marvel plus two new fighters each from both properties. The six returning characters are:

  1. Iron Man
  2. Captain America
  3. Wolverine
  4. Ryu
  5. Morrigan
  6. Dante
As time goes on, we will add veteran characters which each introduced character indicating that they have been “revealed” for the game prior to launch. For obvious reasons, we will be providing some changes for these veterans

Stages

We will be adding stages drawn from the worlds found in Capcom and Marvel. Whether we want to mash up the stages like in Infinite or keep them separated like in previous installments will be something we vote on.

Mechanics

As we put together the game, we will be introducing new mechanics into the game to enhance the fighting experience.

Modes

What game is complete with some new game modes? We will be introducing and voting on new modes to add into the game. Will we be adding a Heroes and Herald’s type mode or something completely different?

How can I get involved?

Getting involved is simple: contribute and submit content that is based on the current job prompt. I intend Project MvC4 to be less labor intensive and more casual than SSB Infinite. I hope we can bring together some great ideas and forge an amazing roster of Marvel and Capcom characters!

Job #1: Submit a Marvel Newcomer and a Capcom Newcomer

With our project underway, we need to begin adding our characters to the roster. With E3 more or less around the corner, it’s time to show them what we are bringing to fans. We will be submitting a Marvel character and a Capcom character so two total. There are some slight requirements for these characters:

1) The characters must be moderately popular
2) This popularity must be of the level that fans get hyped by seeing their inclusion

When submitting, please provide the following information:

1) The name of the character and which franchise they belong in
2) Why they deserve to be added into the game
3) What type of charqcter would they be and what would their moveset look like? Simple descriptions are fine. We will fine tune the special moves later.

Here are my submissions

Marvel character: Loki

Loki has appeared in many Marvel franchises but people are probably more familiar with his appearances in the Avengers. Loki is the brother of Thor and is the God of Mischief. He does have an anti-hero side though so it would be interesting to see how that could be implemented in a story mode. Thanks to the Avengers, he is extremely popular and widely know which would make his reveal quite welcoming. In terms of fighting, he could have a trickster-like fighting style where he uses his magic to play mind games with opponents. This could include projectiles with strange properties such as teleporting or changing direction, creating clones of himself, counters, and creating traps.

Capcom Character: Asura

38C0D565-9887-42E6-BD4F-347411098D4C.png

You know who is fighting against gods? A god himself! Asura is a powerful character from Asura’a Wrath which has yet to see a new game come out sadly. While may not be the most relevant character but fans have been wanting this beast in MvC for such a long time. He even fought against Ryu and Akuma once! Having him seems like a no-brainer. He relies on brute strength like Hulk but his attacks are more localized and lack those that attack within a wide area. He could also possibly unlock his more powerful transformations either in his character gimmicks or in the Hyper Combos.

Job #1

(Sorry if this was too hasty)

CAPCOM

Nero (Devil May Cry)
Nero is the Protagonist in DMC4 and DMC5 he is shown to be different then Dante and Vergil in his moves and attitude and would be a good fit in Marvel Vs. Capcom.
His moveset would use his sword and guns and also his varied set of Arms seen throughout DMC5, He can stop time, Grab people from afar Turn his arm into a cannon, and other interesting mechanics

MARVEL

Scarlet Witch (First appeared in X-men but has expanded beyond them)
Wanda Maximoff AKA The Scarlet Witch is a character seen throughout the Marvel Comics and appeared in the MCU which let her popularity skyrocket especially with the recent conclusion of the smash hit Disney + series WandaVision
Wanda can use magic in all sorts of ways to defeat her opponents by Manipulating the forces of chaos and warping reality to her advantage

Are we allowed to just submit one or the other or do we need to do both at once? Just making sure

Preferably two in order to allow for a good amount of choices for both sides. I have an inkling that Marvel would get more submissions if that’s the case.

Job #1: Leon Kennedy and Squirrel Girl
1615433057422.png
1615433364409.png

Both of these characters are very popular characters and were probably long overdue to get in.

Squirrel Girl's ProsCons
Can defeat Thanos soloNone
Seriously, why can she do that?
Popular character
Would kinda be an out of left-field pick
Has great moveset potential

Leon Kennedy's ProsCons
Bubber BuckyCan't defeat Squirrel Girl
Has been highly requested and long overdue, arguably the most popular Resident Evil protagonist
We already know he can work as a fighter, thanks to Chris
His RE2/RE4 design (depending on which design we decide to use as his default, we'd go with the other. Example, if his appearance in game is based off RE4, then I'd be talking about RE2) would be easy $5 DLC
He can wield a gun, name another Capcom character who can, I'll wait.

Marvel: Mister Fantastic (Fantastic Four)
1615432801637.png

The leader of the Fantastic Four, Reed Richards, AKA Mister Fantastic would bring with him his stretchy appendages, likely working as a Dhalisim/Min Min esque zoner stretching his body extensive distances. He'd also be able to morph his limbs and body into various shapes in order to help give him the advantage in battle.

The Fantastic Four is one of Marvel's earliest superhero teams and one of their more iconic. Strangely enough, despite several of their villains becoming playable throughout MvC's history, none of the main F4 members have. I think now would be a better time than ever, especially assuming Marvel's currently planning to integrate the team into the MCU after finally getting their film rights back thanks to the Fox acquisition. I'm selecting Reed specifically due to being the leader of the crew along with his elastic/shape-shifting abilities making for a interesting moveset.

Capcom: Dr. Wily (Mega Man)
1615434157030.png

Mega Man's arch nemesis, Dr Wily would ideally fight in one of his Wily Capsules. This could be an amalgamation of several capsules throughout the series, so we could see stuff like energy blasts with various elemental properties, teleporting, camouflaging and so on.

Selecting Wily cuz he's such a notable Mega Man character and Capcom character in general, plus we could use more vilians. And despite MvC experimenting with mech/machine based fighters before, I think Wily could bring enough interesting to the table to justify his inclusion.

Marvel submission: Green Goblin

A53A61EA-74D2-43E7-B0D8-6252AB2677C8.jpeg
Green Goblin is easily one of Spider-Man’s most iconic villains, and a perfect fit for Marvel vs Capcom. Spider-Man has a huge rogues gallery so at least some of them should make it in!

He could fight with his pumpkin bombs making him something of a keepaway character. His glider would also make him very light and quick.

Capcom submission: Unknown Soldier

7BC119FC-744B-4646-AF8B-83D9129EC118.jpeg

Okay hear me out: Unknown Soldier from the Capcom arcade game Forgotten Worlds would be a great pick for a fighter, in my opinion. While Forgotten Worlds might not be the most iconic Capcom game, it certainly has it’s fans and being in a game like this would certainly boost the popularity of their game. It would also bring some much needed further representation of Capcom’s arcade scene in MvC. It would even do something not many fighting games have done before: a shoot-em-up rep!

I would imagine him being a zoner type able to be firing bullets long, hard and often. They could also use power ups from the game for their super moves. He could really help balance out a team of three!

I would imagine his default costume is his player 1 outfit, and the player 2 soldier could be an alternate costume.

Miles Morales (First Appearance: Ultimate Fallout #4)

Miles Morales is a Spider-Man from an alternate universe of Earth-1610 replacing that universe's Peter Parker after his death. While his power will be pretty much the same as the current Spider-Man he will have an electrokinesis power, powering up his punches and spider web and blasting enemies with his Venom Blast that paralyzes them. One of his Super could be an Install Super where he will use his camouflage ability (aka invisible).

Miles is probably on his highest peak of his popularity right now after starring in the Spider-Verse movie as the main character which has been praised for its visual and win a lot of awards, which will be the appearance he takes on in this game. He also appear in his own game called "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" on PS4 and 5 which fans has been anticipating. Other than that he is probably give the roster more diversity and representation with in terms of skin color similar to Black Panther and War Machine, something the roster really lacking.

Devilotte (First Appearance: Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness)

Devilotte weirdly has been pushed by Capcom a lot to the spotlight and is pretty much going to be a spiritual successor to Morrigan with her recent appearance in the promotional art for the recently released Capcom Arcade Stadium and even surpassing or even replacing Jin Saotome as the series mascot/representative despite being just an assist in every game she's in outside of Puzzle Fighter, what a twist! In any case she's probably going to work similarly to Jin by calling in her mech, S-008 SUPER-8, attacking enemies with missiles, lasers and penetrating them with their tentacle, she can also rely on her 2 servants as an additional attack or as one of her Super.

Marvel Newcomer - Sam Wilson, better known as the Falcon

Sam Wilson is one of Cap's greatest allies, second only to Bucky. He's such a great ally that he in fact got chosen to take up the mantle of Captain America in both the comics and the MCU. The MCU in particular is pushing Sam to the forefront with Falcon and the Winter Soldier being the next major MCU Disney+ show and leaves some major shoes to fill what with Steve Rogers retiring. This posits Sam as a major member of the Avengers going forward. He's very much worth capitalising on with his massively increased popularity. He also stands as the only formally recognised Black Captain America and adding him would do a great deal for making the MvC roster more diverse, something that MvCI was very sorely lacking in.

As Falcon, Sam possesses the ability to telepathically communicate with other birds and particularly a falcon of his own, Redwing, thanks to Red Skull using the cosmic cube. This also comes in tandem with his basic military training and even the further martial arts training he received from Cap. His wings also grant him excellent aerial capabilities, in fact he's one of the best aerial fighters in the Marvel universe. The wings themselves have come in many forms including hardlight constructs and vibranium, allowing him to reconfigure the formation of his wings and protect himself from deadly explosions. He also used to make use of a grappling hook of sorts, a talon if you will and given his stints as Captain America, he's more than capable of using a shield.

Capcom Newcomer - The Walking Arsenal, Lady from Devil May Cry

Lady is one of Dante's oldest friends and allies, originally appearing in DMC3, a prequel set before DMC1. Originally she set out to destroy all demons, even half demons owed to her father's obsession with demons, Sparda in particular, which led to him killing his wife and Lady's mother, Kalina Ann. Following the events of DMC3 she mellows out a bit and becomes one of Dante's allies, though she rolls solo for a while before the events of the anime series. Differentiating Lady from the other DMC characters is that she's a regular human with no ounce of demonic blood in her. In spite of this she's still able to keep up with and assist Dante and Trish on any job if the need arises and she maintains a great relationship with both of them.

True to her nickname, Lady wields a variety of firearms from regular handguns, shotguns, machine guns, grenades, even crossbows right up to her signature weapon, the Kalina Ann, a customised missile launcher with an extendable blade that can be used as a grapple hook. She's an expert marksman as a result but she's no slouch up close either.

Lady was in fact suspected to be a potential newcomer in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite before the support was dropped early. This is due to Dante's moveset no longer making use of the Kalina Ann from UMvC3 and several rumblings from people who had an idea of as to what was going on behind the scenes. In fact, coming from MvC:I, Lady would be a much welcomed addition to the roster after MvC:I shipped with only four female characters in the base roster and added a further two as DLC, leaving a very lopsided Male to Female ratio.

Not a big fighting game player but I love Marvel and Capcom, so I'd love to help out when it comes to content!

Marvel character: Ms. Marvel, AKA Kamala Khan
A very recent and very beloved superhero, Kamala Khan is the fourth iteration of her superhero name, Ms. Marvel. Her title comic debuted in 2014, and since then she's become a beloved part of the universe, even getting her own series on Disney+ that comes out this year, not to mention very important roles in two recent Marvel games (Ultimate Alliance 3 and Avengers). Due to her ability to elongate her limbs, she would be a Dhalsim-style zoner.

Capcom character: Proto Man
Being Capcom's most iconic franchise, the Mega Man series has gotten quite a few characters over the years. Most of them have been more or less related to Mega Man (Roll being his sister, X also being created by Light), so it's strange that we don't yet have Proto Man. He would be an up close and in your face fighter, who would have a pretty strong defensive game as well thanks to his shield. He wouldn't have as many robot master/Maverick abilities as someone like X or Mega Man-rather, I imagine he'd focus more on brute force and medium-to-short-range firepower.

I've got so many Marvel and Capcom characters that I would love to see in MvC4. Anyways, if I were to pick:

Marvel: Ant-Man

Although Hank Pym was the original Ant-Man in the past, Scott Lang who was once a petty criminal who wants to turn his life around and help his sick daughter became the second Ant-Man in which Hank allowed him to keep the suit despite stealing it from him in the first place. The suit uses Pym Particles which enables Scott to shrink or even enlarge himself into a gigantic form. Surprisingly, I thought Ant-Man was going to be a lock for Infinite (since Hawkeye got a new Level 3 Super in Infinite), but yet he did not make it in. Anyways, I could see him utilise his shrinking and enlargening abilities, summon ants and maybe perhaps involve Wasp in some of his super moves.

Capcom: Date Masamune.

The Sengoku Basara series is considered as one of Capcom's most well recognised franchise within Japan and it will be awesome if it were represented within Marvel Vs Capcom. Date Masamune (who is known as the One-eyed Dragon) is one of the main protagonists of Sengoku Basara and I could see a part of his moveset inspired by his gameplay in which he yields six katana swords with crazy speed and attack.

There are others that I predict still have potential to be in Marvel Vs Capcom 4 in which I could see Shang-Chi (the Master of Kung Fu) who is set to make his MCU debut this year, Star-Lord of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Lady Dimitrescu (already created a huge fanbase for Resident Evil: Village) and Jon Talbain (a Darkstalkers character who had been requested quite often within crossover games.)

I'm not hugely familiar with Marvel vs. Capcom, but I'm a big fan of traditional and team-based fighting games, and of a good chunk of Capcom series.

Marvel Character
DOCTOR OCTOPUS

Dr._Octopus_Marvel.jpg

Doc Ock is one of Spider-Man's most prominent enemies, rivalled only by Venom and the Green Goblin. In addition, he's almost always the leader of Spider-Man's dedicated team of arch-nemeses, the Sinister Six. His hallmark are the four mechanical tentacles sprouting from his back, which he can use to clamber about.

As a playable character, these tentacles would form the basis of most of his moves, giving him long-range attacks, far-reaching grabs, and a variety of attacks that move him around. One move I think is a must is something he does all the time: plant his lower two tentacles on the ground and use them to stand several feet in the air, putting him in a unique position with unique followup attacks. His level 3 super could call in the original lineup of the Sinister Six (Vulture, Electro, Mysterio, Sandman, and Kraven) to assist him, ending with a final attack from their leader - Doc Ock himself.

Capcom Character
OROCHI
Ōkami

Okamiden-orochi-artwork.png

Orochi is the initial villain of Ōkami, based on the mythological beast Yamata no Orochi. Despite not being the true ultimate enemy, his role in Amaterasu's backstory, higher amount of screentime than any other villain, and appearance in the game's intro all make him the most prominent villain in the game. Orochi is an eight-headed serpent who demanded a sacrificial maiden from Kamiki Village once every year. Each of his heads commands mastery of a different element: Fire, Darkness, Wind, Water, Lightning, Light, Poison and Earth. Not pictured in the art is the temple bell on its back.

Orochi's large size and octocephalic anatomy may cause you to think he's not suited for a fighting game, but that's exactly what gives his moveset the opportunity to be extremely unique. While he would have to be scaled down, he would still be the largest character in the game, at about Sentinel's height and with significant width. While in Ōkami he fights with its heads spread like an eight-pointed star, here he takes a posture reminiscent of True Orochi's art, with four heads facing forward and four heads facing backward. Each of its buttons would correspond to one of his forward-facing heads. There's even potential for a mechanic where side-switching wouldn't make him turn around, but instead use the other four heads - but you could also use those heads via crouch attacks, or command normals, or specials, or a variety of other ways.

It seems like every fighting game needs at least one of those characters who feels considerably different from any other character on the roster. and I think Orochi could definitely be our guy for that. And considering the recent Switch port, there's been eyes back on Ōkami recently. I don't think anyone would expect Orochi, but I think plenty of fans would appreciate him. Besides, where else are we gonna be able to play as this dude?

Assuming that I'm allowed to just jump in (I haven't done something like this, so I'm not sure what the procedure is)...

Marvel character: the Idol o' Millions, Aunt Petunia's favourite nephew, the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing!

Marvel vs. Capcom hasn't really used the Fantastic Four much (we've gotten Dr. Doom, the Super Skrull, and Galactus, but not one playable member of the FF), and with Disney's buyout of Fox seemingly making them more willing to bring the FF back into games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, now seems like a good time to change that. While Reed's the leader of the team (and has already been mentioned), the Thing definitely sticks out among the team for gruff attitude and sense of humour, in addition to his appearance. (Stan Lee even figured that he'd be popular before the FF even started because he's a "wild card")

Fighting games tend to have less and less larger/heavier characters as time goes on, and the Thing can serve to address that. Unlike the Hulk (who's a big powerful brute), the Thing could be more of a brawler (due to his time on Yancy Street) or a wrestler (thanks to competing in the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation, basically WWE for superpowered people). Plus, you know that you want him to have a taunt where he yells out "It's clobberin' time!" He probably wouldn't have much in the way of projectiles, though I could see him having a super move where he picks up some large gizmo that Reed doesn't need any more and chucks it at the opponent. (I'm basing that on Marvel Avengers Alliance)

Capcom character: the turbulent wind, Rashid

Out of the newcomers for Street Fighter V, especially in the base game, Rashid seemed to be the most prominent. He had a fairly big involvement in the game's story mode, a fighting style that involves kicking out tornadoes (which seems like it would be more effective in MvC than it already is in Street Fighter, since so much emphasis is placed on aerial combos), and a pretty good theme song. Assuming that we're going to get a new Street Fighter character, he seems to have made the biggest impression on people, like with Crimson Viper for MvC3. (I could be wrong about that; I'm just going by what I've seen) Plus, seeing as he's already a fighting game character, his moves seem like they'd be pretty straightforward to transfer into Marvel vs. Capcom.

I was tempted to put an older Street Fighter character into here after realizing that he had never actually been included in any Marvel vs. Capcom game, but between him and Rashid, Rashid seemed like he'd be more fun. (or at least that his moveset would transfer to the over-the-top nature of Marvel vs. Capcom more easily)

Great submissions! We will continue to allow submissions for 5 more hours and then proceed to voting. I will explain the process then.

Something I think we should probably keep in mind when submitting newcomers for this first job is the currently revealed veterans we have. As a made-up example since I don't wanna point any fingers: would be a bit weird if we revealed, say, Franziska before Phoenix, wouldn't it?

Anyway, I'll prolly sit back and watch for this round of submissions. I have some characters I do wanna submit, but none of them really stand out as "very first newcomers revealed" material to me

Marvel Submission

Daredevil

Matthew Murdock (Earth-616) | Marvel Database | Fandom

Matthew Murdock hails from the critically acclaimed comic book series Daredevil. The character has appeared in numerous different storylines across the Marvel Universe and has gotten a Netflix show on top of that. His moveset would consist of his super sonar abilities and incorporate his mastery of martial arts trained by Slick, to make him an effective Melee fighter.

Capcom Submission

Regina (Dino Crisis)

Regina (Dino Crisis).png

Hailing from the Dino Crisis series, Regina acts as the main protagonist of the survival horror series that has received acclaim throughout the years on various systems. Regina would incorporate a survival horror moveset much like Resident Evil characters in the past games have had.

Captain Marvel

Marvel Comics Captain Marvel Comic Book 11 - ToyWiz

One of the first characters revealed for MVCI, Captain Marvel has been a rising star in the Marvel Comics Universe and MCU. Her moveset would function similarly to the way it was in MVCI, using her Kree abilities to deliver fast and powerful hits to her foes.

Capcom Submission

Chun-Li (Street Fighter)
Chun-Li | Project X Zone Wiki | Fandom

The number 2 of Street Fighter and the only character aside from Ryu that has shown up in every Marvel vs Capcom game so far, Chun-Li is an obvious shoo-in and a great choice to reveal along the first characters revealed for the game. Her moveset would be the same as most of the fighting games she's already appeared in, consisting of spinning bird kicks, lightning kicks, etc.
We're doin newcomers for now

This is a great idea! I probably won't participate as much as on Smash Infinite, but it looks like a lot of fun.

Marvel character: Daredevil

The Man Without Fear, The Devil of Hell's Kitchen, Daredevil himself joins the clash of heroes. Created in the 60s by Stan Lee and Bill Everett, he quickly became a staple of the Marvel Universe and one of its most popular characters. He was the subject of a... divisive movie in 2003, portrayed by Ben Affleck, but eventually redeemed himself with the critically acclaimed MCU series, spanning 3 seasons.

As a martial arts master, Daredevil specializes in fast but brutal takedowns. He wields his special batons, which, as they're tied by a wire, means they can also be used as a nunchuk, a grappling hook, or even reunited and turned into a staff. His heightened senses make him hard to hit, and that trademark Murdock spirit means that he won't stay down long when hit. All this would translate to a character who's fast and versatile, with good defensive abilities, some attacks with wide hitboxes and some with precise windows but devastating damage, so that when they go down they don't get back up. As a blind man, Daredevil perceives the world differently than other characters; I think that could make for an interesting gimmick or super, using the excellent "World on Fire" effect from the TV show as inspiration.

I picked Daredevil because he's freaking awesome. While he's not my favorite Marvel character (that would be Squirrel Girl), as a nearsighted law student it's not a stretch to say that Daredevil is both relatable and aspirational to me. Frank Miller's run on him is sublime, and the Netflix show (and Charlie Cox's definitive performance) only cemented him as one of my all-time favorites. Also, he's basically made to be a fighting game character.

Capcom character: Regina (Dino Crisis)

Regina is the star of Capcom's other survival horror series, Dino Crisis. A weapons specialist and a member of SORT (Secret Operations Raid Team), Regina is often called to investigate phenomena related to the mysterious Third Energy, which usually means fighting dinosaurs. Despite their fame as "Resident Evil with dinosaurs" the first two Dino Crisis games were critical and commercial successes, and it was only the third one that did so poorly it killed the series (and Regina wasn't in it. Coincidence? I don't think so.)

Regina would probably have a moveset consisting of the several weapons used in Dino Crisis, like Chris. Unlike Chris however, Regina has more outlandish and complex weapons in her arsenal, such as the firewall, which literally creates a wall of fire, or the chainmine, which fires 5 mines into the ground. If that's not enough, then Regina could always take a page from STARS Jill and Frank West and summon dinosaurs to do the fighting for her.

Why pick Regina? Well, part of it is simply because I'd love to get a new game, or even a remake, as Dino Crisis was quite good and Capcom has proven a master at the remake with the recent spree. Dino Crisis on the RE engine would be quite neat. But also I think Regina would both be a really cool character to introduce to audiences while still being the kind of deep cut I like to see in MvC.

This is very true and something that was concerning to me as submissions came in. That being said, it’s kind of fun to make fans second guess themselves. I remember thinking “Wait...where’s Mega Man?” when Zero was first revealed for MvC3.

I don't think MVC has a strict priority order like Smash does. I'm pretty sure Zero, Morrigan, Dr. Doom, and War Machine were added before their series' main character.

I'm moreso talking about adding in supporting characters before specifically veterans that have established themselves already as that supporting character's series' higher priority in MvC

If we're to bring in a new series, or one that often rotates anyway, I'd say it's more lenient

We do have a prior example of this-Mega Man came in the first MvC game, and Zero replaced him later on. I can't think of many more examples than that, but I think it just goes to show that we should consider moveset potential more highly than representation (at least, when it comes to veteran series).

I'd consider Mega Man to be a rotating series at this point in terms of MvC, but you do have a point in that it wasn't like that until MvC3

Something I myself kinda forgot about what I was originally trying to argue as I got swept up in all the discussion is that I was talking less about the additions to the roster itself, but rather the timing of the hypothetical reveals

But whatever. I feel like we've both made our points by now, so

I definitely understand the timing thing. I don't really know what our E3 would look like. I'm making my previous point assuming that, say Doc Ock is chosen, Spider-Man would at least be part of his reveal or something.
I feel like we don't know enough about veterans to keep at this, so I don't mind bringing this back up when we get there.

Let’s begin our voting for our first newcomers! We will be doing Ranked Voting and will be voting for three characters for both Marvel and Capcom so six total. Ranked Voting means that your first choice (1) gets 3 points, your second choice (2) gets 2 points, and your third choice (3) gets one point. Please vote for the characters you think would be best for our reveal trailer. I forgot to include to please avoid voting for your own submission. I’m sorry about forgetting this omission.

1. Scarlet Witch: Wandavision help her fanbase grow and also her popularity, it's best if we have her as a newcomer before it lasted

2.Ms. Marvel: pretty much the same as Wanda, it's a good way to hype up her Disney+ series and with her being one of the main character from the Avengers game last year (even if it's horrible) it successfully made her grew.

3. Squirrel Girl

Capcom was pretty easy to decide on. The Marvel side however was really tough. I'd argue there's a case to be made for pretty much every single submission there sometime down the road. Though when it comes to bring one of the first reveals, I think I was able to boil down the options pretty easily.
