This has prolly been asked before, but has the OP issues list been updated with the new fixes (e.g. landing detection) or are they still the demo v1 issues?

Yo. I had an idea for norfair while watching the stream.

I think that the two bottom platforms should be solid. You could grab both the ledges at the far ends, and on the inside. From under stage, you'll have 3 ledges to grab from either side. I think it would be more interesting that way, and I feel like being able to come up under the stage is odd and makes recovering a bit to easy.

Most (I think all?) stages that have floating platforms have a main platform that you can't come up through the bottom of. I think this is something that should be considered at least, but do what you guys think is best.

I also noticed that the floor was pretty low, snake kept SDing when he want down after Falco.

And thanks for streaming!

We're still experimenting with the sizes and spacing of the platforms.

One point to note is that the final form will have lava walls blocking off half of the stage at a time. And NO ****ING FIRE PILLARS if Monk can get rid of them.

B-but I like fire pillars. Also, awesome stream JCeas.

I'm going to try to convince Sil to try and become a playtester too.

I think I am, but he already has something I lack--- an easy way to show vids of himself. I hate having my laptop be down. :(

I think the middle is supposed to be a death hole, so being able to grab would defeat the purpose of it. And yes, I'm aware that this makes the stage worse on some characters who have bad recovery, including my main, but how the stage is made:

1) One seems less likely to kill in the middle than on the sides anyways.
2) Putting ledges would defeat the concept.

And hail the death of the wall.

Ledges in the middle could lead to some really silly tactics too. And it's obviously a counterpick so I don't think it's that big a deal that the middle can screw some characters. Besides, cmart played ZSS there yesterday and wasn't really having any problems with it once he got used to it. Having a safe platform behind you to go to makes it not so bad as long as you still have a jump.

Could you guys do something like that with a new form of spear pillar as much as I hate to say it but spear pillar has to be one of my most favorite stages in smash.

Interesting setup. Reminds me of Great Bay but the fallthrough platform on the top changes everything.

No... we don't have any interest in salvaging that stage.
Really?... that's too bad...
... I think i get why though... seems like a hard stage to make fair... with the different pokemon and all...

It would be hard to make the game load only one of the pokemon everytime, and edit that one to be good?... Like taking the one that crushes parts of the stage and have a part of the stage break every 2 minutes or something?...

I'm pretty sure M22K got rid of them in his Planet Zebes 64 stage over Norfair by moving everything up a lot.

I've succeeded avoiding the undesired lava effects by moving up the stage, as Supreme Dirt says. They just don't work when at certain heights, that's why moving the base lava is interesting. I noticed this with Crisis City, where some lava effects were failing the characters. The stage itself is too high, and I've moved it down. By doing this, I noticed some unexpected burns, but I've just realised today that they're those lava 'pillars', which are in the effect file, and are not visible (I guess) when used from another stage different to Norfair. And that was the problem I was having with Zebes too.

So, move up the entire stage, and the lava pillars will not get you anymore.

New Zebes video without unexpected burns:

I completely forgot, of course I'm gonna help you, sorry ^^U

If Spear Pillar was permanently broken in it's center, has those platforms at the top missing or smaller ones cycling into the gap in the center down to the cave part and or only the laser at the bottom happening at certain times, would it still not work as a stage? Even with a smaller, thinner top level without ledges on the top level? I'm guessing the ceilings and being too big (runaway) would be a problem. I just like the look of the cave part, lol. It seems like hell to fix, and I don't really care anyway, just seems like a shame to let that cave go to waste!

The interference from Palkia, Dialga, and Cresilla is too much.

Doesn't help that the screen inversions from Palkia don't have any warning to them unlike the beams. Dialga's time manipulation isn't helpful either.

The stage isn't worth their time to salvage.

I could see bottom part removed version as a viable (doubles?) stage if it weren't for the goddamn physics/flips/speed crap. Seriously, I love the stage but refuse to play on it.

*EDIT* Actually a though occurs. Make all three the cresselia one.
If moving the whole stage up worked to fix the lava pillars on Zebes 64, I'd assume it to work fine in this case.

The stage wouldn't be difficult to salvage. Just make one of the three Pokemon that appear there an aesthetic feature with no hazards, remove the bottom floor, and tada. You have a nice neutral stage for doubles. I was going to do this myself, but I got tired of doing hacks and have been lazy about it.

Their stage list was more or less finalized last I checked. Other than friendlies, I wouldn't see it used much.

I hope Monk sees the post that shows how M22K got rid of the lava pillars.
