Have you guys made any tweaks to the camera lately? I noticed in the Boss/Mashi Fox dittos vid that it gets Melee-esque close (a good thing!).

With the items: i was never suggesting using them in tournament play, but i remember occasionally having matches where me and old cookieMONster would screw around with the parasol or something. The parasol would be particularly hard to bring back because of the animation though, so you can scratch that one off the list.

anyway, what i was saying was that it was fun to screw around in melee.

Wow, i always thought of myself as one of those "stop having fun guys" but seriously, i dont enjoy using items when actually playing, but they can be fun when just fooling around.

Well to change the topic. I would like two more castlevainia stages hopefully brought to PM.

The cathedral

I think the clock tower is already great but the cathedral would need to be reduced in size and cut most of those pillars away :(
Hmm.... as interesting as those stages are, I think there ought to be more character representation in the PM stage hacks...

I'm not going to go over all the characters and they're level of stage representation, but I know I've mentioned Ganon needing a Ganon-esque stage. There are other game series that only have one stage for multiple characters or a stage that doesn't really seem to suit a character aesthetically. Ideally, imo, there would be a stage suited for every character... but that's prone to heavy interpretation as to what constitutes "suitable" and it would somewhat detract from the largely more important task of stage balancing.


(Speaking of balance... and now to go off on this tangent, xD)
As an aside, I just want to remind people that not every stage has to be neutral or even a clear counterpick... obviously, most of them should be however. People want balance and fairness to be sure, but I notice a trend among those that put an especially strong emphasis on this in regards to characters, stages, or anything really... and that's a tendancy towards "sameness" or a lack of variety. Just as an example that has been expressed before... As much as I think having all the characters "meleefied" is an awesome thing, I also worry about characters falling back or even newly into "clonedom". I see the same thing happen when people try to neutralize stages - a lot of times I can see the stage slowly becoming Battlefield as people explain where platforms should be to balance the stage, lol. Making stuff more similar allows balance to be achieved easier, granted, but I hope there is also special attention paid to keeping things various. Just some observations.

I think the PM community in general would want that stage balanced. I don't care really either way except for the fact that it's less likely to make it in standard if it's not. Also, its ported over FD - a balanced stage. It would be cool if it was ported over Bridge of Eldin.

One of my dreamed up Tower of Ganon ideas had the tower crumbling at some point to resemble its appearance after Ganondorf's "death". At this stage it could have pits on either side with no walk offs... people interested in balance would like that I expect. I really like the look and presentation of the tower interior, but too much stage time with walk-off blastzones quickly takes a stage like this from possible counterpick to banned. I just hope balancing this stage doesn't ruin its great presentation. *shrugs*

I wonder if there are stage hacks that don't go over your actual stages and can just be slamed onto your SD card instead. It sounds like a waste.

I think that a good way to implement a better item gameplay would be that they only work by pressing neutral A (or the less possible number of convinations necessary for their function) and be thrown just with "Z"+direction. Obviusly this will let all aerials and most of ground movements free to be used while holding the item leading to an increased number of combo possibilities. Just think of all the hype armada builds with a Stichface combo Because peach can use aerials while holding items.

Oh, and nice work uploading all the videos quickly JC. Boss makes Wario look very dynamic and interesting.

Yeah, Wario's uair is a combo move now. It may still get some tweaking though.

And I have a ton more videos coming. Those were just some friendlies I got with Boss. I still have all the tournament matches to upload, and I'm working on ripping them from the stream. TH did really awesome work on commentary and I'm trying hard to save it.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. It wasn't really clear from your post.

And anyway, in Brawl everyone can do smashes (and maybe aerials too? I haven't tried) while holding an item. Just keep holding A when you pick it up.

If youre up for more odes to Super Smash Bros 64, then why not do the "choose your character" screen in chronological order? By this, I mean the games they first appeared in, kinda like this.

I apologize for no stream yesterday. There seem to have been issues with the morning update and a few characters caused freezes. Time constraints also contributed to the lack of PM tourney as well. Next time :)
