i mean to be fair i didnt read any of the context for like 1.5 pages haha but taken on its own that advice is terrible
It wasn't advice

Though it's a decent enough mixup if you know they're gonna stay in shield expecting a late aerial

Though if that's the case you could just grab straight out of the tomahawk...

This conversation took place between me and my crew mate (who considers switching from ganon to a "bteter" character occasionally)

Me: I think your spacing is one of your main strengths, so a switch to marth might help you out.
Diesel: I think my actual best strength is playing ganon against people who don't know the ganon matchup.

It's because Tope keeps getting drunk at major tournaments and he's like 12.5% of our player population -_-

Only sheik I lose to is M2K. I've beaten Tope like 2 times now lol.

But you're right, being good with an underused character gives you an advantage for everyone's lack of knowledge towards the matchup.

But then again, giving a skilled player stronger tools to utilize is good as well.

Oh a while ago you were talking about Lucien being really tough for you too but that was a while ago so that might have changed.

Yea I think the trade off would be pretty comparable. Plus your doc is just clearly way better, so it just wouldn't make any sense to switch to anything else imo.

I probably won't switch from Doc.

Although in teams I need to play a different character, unless my teammate is fox.

I'm looking for really general advice. =)
Tighten up your spacing on approach; You got pegged by a lot of stray hits and dropped a lot of pressure opportunities because your micro-spacing was off.

Try not to miss so many ground techs.

Don't fulljump so much.

Work on your edgeguarding and ledge pressure.

Think about how to make your combos more efficient and end with you in center stage control.

Thanks, that is exactly what I wanted!

What should falco do after he back airs marth's shield and can't shine because hes too far away?

Also how should I incorporate more fair into my combo game?

Bair question: if you're in grab range, lose stock. If not, predict their OoS option and punish it.

Fair question: use it at low percents when it'll hit like 4 times (supposedly uthrow fair works on Marth, but I can never make it work). Also, mix it up with nair on heavies/FFers randomly until you get a good sense of how it works as a DI mixup.

lots of lasers, don't overcommit with combos, uthrow to uair works sometimes (i don't get it), laser more

i'm no pro though, so take any advice i give with a grain or 2 of salt

its really hard. you have to adopt a weird combination of oh **** run away vs just fh nair her out of her approach. respect her dash attack a lot.

my strategy is watch Dr. PP vs Armada, once I think I've implemented everything I learned from the set, I watch it again with a new perspective and learn new stuff, and repeat. i still get ***** by peach though haha

How aggressive are you when you play normally? Peach is one of those characters you need to be more patient with as Falco.
well ik i shouldnt be agressive in the begginning but i sometimes try to combo right away but i definitely try to laser a lot against her

oops double post sorry!

peach is probably falco's hardest matchup imo. samus can do really well but peaches are just more consistent.

stuff i know, though:

dont dair at low percents. it can be crouch cancelled to grab or dsmash
respect her dash attack
her approach sucks, full hopping if they approach usually works well against the peaches i play with cuz they either eat a dair or they retreat.
peaches i know love to take defensive returns to the stage, so try to bait an airdodge or neutral b
spaced bairs work quite well
their edgeguarding can be predictable, as usually they can only cover single options and not multiple ones

i don't think i'd say peach is falco's hardest matchup at all. i mean, you have to play a bit different against peach but it's definitely in falco's favor.

as for not dairing at low percents wouldn't that only really apply to early dairs? i wouldn't not do a move as good as that (though i may try spacing it better)

the whole approach thing, i dunno man. if you aren't lasering her she can definitely get off on the whole approaching thing with that floatcancelling stuff and dash attacking

on the whole edgeguarding subject: how many options do you really need to cover against falco? lol if he isn't in range to jump right back onto the map then all he can do is try to side b or upb. side b only goes 1 direction and upb takes long enough for peach to get in position to edgeguard.

once again though, i probably don't know what i'm talking about so grains of salt for everyone

Samus isn't hard for falco at all

****

Losing to samus requires you to run into her moves. If you're not running straight into samus' stuff (read: don't get WD back dsmashed/uptilted/whatever) the matchup becomes infinitely difficult for samus. She doesn't have a good way to deal with lasers, falco can actually combo/edgeguard her, if she goes into the air she auto loses. Yes I'm probably biased but idgaf >_>

Anyway, I think fox/marth are probably falco's hardest matchups when played well at a top level by both players.

how do you ledge tech marth's counter?

I dont know the frame data junk, but from playing alot I can ledge tech things like peaches dsmash, marth's fsmash from my upb pretty consistently. so relative to that knowledge, how do you ledge tech marth's counter?

have to wait a bit longer

also samus isn't hard for falco lol
technically speaking at least
i guess it could be hard to overcome a samus
but falco by all means has the tools to do it
sorry but you actually have to think when you play vs. samus
