My best guess is that it corresponds to Morning/Day/Night, but don't take my word on that haha.
Anyways, I just realized you can catch the Legendary Birds and Mewtwo in this game. :x
No it has nothing to do with that.

Groups A/B/C pokemon are for rarity. Each time you send a Pokemon to a route (lets say, Pikachu to Route A) the Pokewalker chooses 1 pokemon from each group as "wild" pokemon that you can encounter. C Group are the most common (found in "!" patches), B Group are the 2nd most common (found in "!!" patches) and the A Group Pokemon are the rarest (found in "!!!" patches).
If both Pikachu and Geodude are in the A Group, and you find a wild Pikachu, you have to send your Pokemon back to the game before any wild Geodude start appearing.

I beat the Elite Four Last Night, here are my experiences:

William, the Flamboyantly Homosexual Mind Freak

Okay, so Will sorta worried me because he has some of those "Oh god, here IT comes, I really hope this doesn't suck as much as it always does" Pokemon. Case and point: Slowbro. I really dislike battling Slowbro because it's just such a failure of a Pokemon. Thank you, Slow Hippo, for making me feel like a ******* trainer. If I can't kill Slow Hippos, how the hell am I going to kill the God Of Pokes?? But anyways, it's first Xatu, Jynx, and Exeggutor died fairly quickly. Really, it wasn't that bad to kill them. Slowbro died quickly (surprisingly!) to a couple Pursuits from Dodrio. The final Xatu was SUCH a pain. I think it killed one of my Pokemon, and Will used a couple Full Restores on it. >_< It was pretty difficult to kill, coupled with the fact that it wasn't like...some godly Pokemon. It was a ****ing XATU. Ugh. Anyways, beat him soundly. FREAKING LOVE his room though. Flyin' cubes and **** = funn!!!!

Koga-san, the Ninja who Clearly Failed to Graduate from Ninja Academy because He is the Only Ninja you'll Ever Find just Standing in the Middle of a Room with a Light Shining on His Face

Koga was so ****ing easy it was absolutely ridiculous. His Ariados, Forretress, Venemoth, and Muk all died instantly to either a Ninetales Fire Blast or a Diggaladoo Earthquake. Crobat, on the other hand, just had to come in and be like "Oh hey guys, I just so happen to have feet in the 3rd generation games, but now, **** FEET!! Mwahahahaha, doubleteam doubleteam doubleteam doubleteam". Took like....a billion and a half Ice Fangs to hit. It truly was annoying. However, he was probably the easiest one to take down. Easiest E4 Member ever?

Brunoford Worthshier Huffington, the Lava Fetish Man who trains Pokemon that resemble himself.

Bruno was pretty easy, but harder than Koga. His Hitmons died easily to some crappy Fly attacks by my Dodrio, which I assume is somewhat like a running tackle in which Dodrio slightly levitates, because that ***** does NOT fly, lemme tell you. Onix = LOOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOL = why the hell you got an Onix in the Elite Four = Died to a Surf from Gatr. Okay so here comes Machamp, his insanely ******** piece of crap. I bring out my Three-Headed Avain Variety Galapagos Sea-Turtle Mutant Spawn from Haiti (Dodrio). First turn, I definitely wanted to FLY HIGH! with my THAVGSTMSfH. So I started Flying and I was like "Hey Machamp, try to chop me from the ground" and Machamp was all like "CHAMP CHAMP CHAMP CHAMP CHAMP (wtf is this, I must be high to type all those champs, you don't even know what its saying, so why do I bother even explaining)" and decided to Cross Chop into Nothing and Kill me. I forgot about No Guard, the most retardedly broken ability in the history of life. That's like some Wonder Guard Sabre-Tooth Tiger. >_> Luckily I beat him still.......you....you.....the only trainer who sits down! Yeah, look away in shame >__>

K.A.R.E.N. - Kind of Absolutely ********. Eggs.....Nunchucks >_>

Karen is a dumb trainer. When she applied to the Pokemon League, they must've been like "Okay, Karen, what type of Pokemon do you want to specialize in?" and shes like "Oh, dark types, because they are my favorite and I have to win with my favorites! I am not the selfish perception of human kind!". So the admissions ***** looked at her like ">________________> Okay you dumb ****, you've got like....two dark type Pokemon" and then she slapped her and a girl fight occured, resulting in the death of four Chansey and several Nurse Joys. As community service, she had to be in the Elite Four with her Fail team of failures. Murkrow is just absolutely ********. That's like if I were to take an ant to battle a T-Rex. Anyways, the Vileplume died instantly with some Pesticides from my Ninetales. The Houndoom died instantly to a Crit Waterfall from Gatr. Umbreon was probably the biggest ***** to kill. Especially annoying was how high it's defenses were and how ill-equipped I was to kill it with Super Effective Moves. Gengar was stupid. Like, forty million douchebags in this game have Gengars. Beat your ***, KAREN.

Lance - The Best of all the Dragon Tamers from Blackthorn City, which doesn't help that like even the worst of them is still insanely good at battling.

Jesus. ****ing. Christ. This was an insane battle. It definitely didn't help that the Imitation Dragon (if you don't know him by now, I'm sure you can tell that the imitation dragon was THIS COLOR as a shiny) killed four (yes, FOUR) of my Pokemon. Thunder from Nidoking, like, amirite? No, sorry, it missed! =D Fly from Dodrio? MISSED =D Everything either missed or did about 1/15 damage to the imitation dragon. I took it down with something....I think it was Gatr. At this point, I had Gatr and Bouncy the Entangler (Tangrowth) left. He sends in his 1st of 3 underleveled, children of the mist Dragonite, and I send out Bouncy. Bouncy proceeds to get off THREE Growths while draining my Full Restore Counts, only to NOT kill with Ancientpower, and then get killed >_> I bring in Gatr, and the next two Dragonite, Aerodactyl, AND Charizard are just battles of me using Full Restore until they miss, or Ice Fanging/Waterfalling any time I can get a hint in. Thanks mother dearest, your street-corner days provided enough Full Restore money to beat this failure of a dragon tamer with a Waterfall up the butt of Charizard. =D
DONE!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Clair =/= Karen. Sorry...___...

Yeah FAILchion, and Groundon / Kyogre and Latios / Latias.

-Terywj
I was aware of the former but when I heard about the Kanto Legendaries, I practically froze haha.
No it has nothing to do with that.

...I feel stupid now lol. That makes much more sense. :p

Okay, thanks for the help, now for another question.
Should I keep this Latios (who is used in an uber team wifi, and probably thats it. I might try battle tower with it, scizor, tyranitar, but I don't know)
First, keep in mind I can't synchronize the nature(I wanted SS just so I could SR Latias(event one) easier than Latios)
That being said, I got the right nature, and the IVs are not bad, but you can see where I'm skeptical..

Timid / Likes to Thrast About
Hp: 6-8
Att: 31
Def: 20-22
Satt: 26-28
Sdef: 20-22
Speed: 6-8

If only speed was 10+ higher...it's so hard to decide, because on one side the speed and hp are crappy, but on the other side it has the right nature, which I've only seen twice in 10 hours, and it has great special attack with good defenses.

At first, I thought will was a girl >.>
So I use my raikou with shadowball(lolworthy moves ftw)
Kills a Xatu
Kills slowbro with spark
Typhlosion flamethrowers jynx, stupid overweight is ****** >.>
Flamethrower the xatu
More flamin to teh egg-palm tree thingy

Walks away with satisfaction that I 1HKOed every member of his team.

Koga-The Naruto with purple hair and a lot of wrinkles.
How old is this guy, Seriously?
Okay so Ariados comes out
Flamethrower

Foretress comes out
Flamethrower

Venemoth comes out
Flamethrower

Crobat comes out
I use Lugia
Hes Leik ZOMG DUBBLE TEEMZ R TEH FUNZ :p

I FINALLY HIT HIM WITH EXTRASENSORY!
And He Dies

Muk comes out, and I am literally like
"crap PLEASE dont use minimize"
I hit him with extrasensory ONCE and he dies >.>

Bruno- He is gay, you know it.
Lugia has extra sensory
aeroblast
hydro pump
and extrasensory

ALL fighting types got extrasensoried

Onix got hydro pumped

And that was that

Seriously bruno, You are WEAKER than you were three years ago
WTF!

Karen- The type confused ****** with only three dark types.

Karen....I cant think of anything to say that isnt already blatantly obvious....

I have flamethrower, everything died in one hit. period.

Pfft What a ******.

Lance- One with epic music and Haxed dragonites

So he sends out his gyra, I use mine

Mine is red and has thunderbolt, so i win

His dragonites were easy, ice fang up the butt

Seriously why lv 50 dragonites, Haxor
-________________-

waterfall gyra ***** his charizard

His Aerodactyl was a b*tch

After killing all my pokemon
I had lugia. Luckily, lugia has Beast defense, so he wouldnt 1HKO me
So i used hydro pump, Hyper potion, he uses hyper potion and i am out of hydro pumps

So I extrasensory, hyper potion, rinse and repeat.

Finally he died and i won

His music is WIN!!!!!!

So there ya go, elite four :)

I think the fact my team was ev trained made them all weak and pathetic, but Lance still annoyed me. <_< I decided to reset the Latios... I'd accept any speed nature bar-jolly 0 all Ivs but Satt/Speed which are 30+, but no... I get an awesome Timid one with bad speed... *sigh*

Edit: Now I have a Naive one that is 19/27/30/7/22/27 ... Dunno what to do there either ._.

I OHKO'd her team. xD Lt. Surge gave me some problems though. >.>
I OHKO'd Lt. Surge's Team O__O. Crazy weird how different each person's experiences are!
It's almost like....what Pokemon is ABOUT!
Some people have difficulty with one trainer.
Some people have difficulty with another.
Ash has difficulty with anything that exists ever.
It's just so refreshing!

Starmie and Aerodactyl are easily the strongest ones on my team, and Starmie got paralyzed by Thunderbolt and then KO'd. Aerodactyl took out a bunch, but I got cocky and decided to use Stone Edge, which missed, and then got critical'd. The rest of my team took a while. xD

Just beat the Elite Four & Champion. So zetta epic, especially since I put on over-the-ear headphones and blasted the DS at full volume while I fought Lance.

Beat them on the first try, albeit with a ton of revives and potions.

None of the Elite Four were too challenging, just Lance, in battle with whom I think I experienced the most hax ever in one battle with Lance. He has a bunch of low accuracy moves on his Pokémon and of all of them, only one of them ever missed once. Thunder hit twice in a row, Fire Blast hit the only time he used it, Rock Slide hit twice in a row, Dragon Rush hit god-knows-how-many-times and only missed once.

Amphy and Feraligatr were the only Pokémon to do anything against Lance, save for Steelix taking an Outrage and Umbreon confusing and Faint Attacking one of the Dragonites.

No silly nicknames for the Elite Four, sorry.

And if you think about it, while Karen only has 3 Dark types, Vileplume could easily be Grass/Dark, and Gengar could pass as a Dark type, too. There's only two more Dark type inside the Johto Dex anyways; Tyranitar would go outside the level limit unless they broke the laws of evolution and Sneasel is left up to your rival.

Final levels:

Ampharos | Level 45
Pidgeot | Level 41
Feraligatr | Level 43
Ninetales | Level 41
Umbreon | Level 40
Steelix | Level 42

Alright, let me get some things straight before I go and fight Lugia.

1. I cannot SR for a better nature.
2. I can kill Lugia now to fight after the E4.
3. Lugia will then have a different nature and can be SRed.

Yes?

Also, how do I check IVs without doing the online battle thing? I want to make a perfect Jiggs and nickname it Mango

I agree with Firus, although Karen's team is....sorta a type fail based solely on the defined type, I always imagined that her Vileplume was like a satanic flower. It always seemed....darker, but maybe that's because in R/B it was ACTUALLY a black flower and, as I recall, in G/S/C it was still a REALLY dark Blue. Funny how Vileplume is treated as a dark Pokemon in this game, seeing as how both Adriana, the female Exec, and Karen, the Dark-Type Elite Four Member. xD

Awwww....sadface

EDIT: And I'm sorta mad at how similar the Lance and Clair Rematch teams are =/
I mean, granted there are only like...6 or 7 fully evolved dragon types, but still....Flygon, Shelgon, Salamence....those are "useable". xD

Ummmmmm......
*looks at lances dragonites*
yeaahh.....
Ffff

I forgot about them.

Well, they would have to break the laws of evolution by quite a bit. Not that they're entirely opposed to that at all, like every Rapidash in D/P/Pt ever, but still. Besides, Lance would have just about nothing to bring to the table without Dragonite, and I think Tyranitar is a little outside the feeling of Karen's team.

You can Sr in the beginning, I did it. You can kill it, but why bother? And it's nature will vary every time you SR, unless you use Synchronize

Okay, thanks. I thought I remembered reading that it couldn't be SRed the first time.

The IV question still needs answering... though I could just google it.

Since it's 45 they will be accurate enough to not have to bother. Usually if it's above 30 it's pretty accurate, metalkid is down right now. Google Serebii IV calculator, not as fancy, but it works.

Np.... Now if I could just catch Latios with 31 speed IV + any non-jolly speed nature...seriously I'd take 5/5/5/20/5/31 ._.

WOAH. There's a noticeable quality difference in the game's music when using a pair of head/earphones!
It's much more immersive.

I just caught a Jolly 29/31/31/0/31/5 Zapdos.
I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

I generally find this to be the case for most DS games

The shiny gyarados I got in lake of rage was adamant with 30 IVs in attack :D

Man I just accidentally went into a double battle with clair and lance... the worst thing is that I have a high leveled Typhlosion with a bunch of weak pokemon I'm training... Thank god that my rival at least has a bad *** Feraligatr on his team because I'd be toast if it wasn't for that

Lucky lucky with the Zapdos. I have a similar Gyarados and a Timid Lugia that is very good. Latios is really upsetting me...If only I could synchronize... if only...
i finally get a Timid and it's "somewhat of a clown" which = 22Spatt 22Speed = fail ._.

I decided to finish leveling up my Electivire for Red, so I went to the Elite 4 for the third time.

I definitely forgot that there are level increases and new Pokemon. Will sends out a level 58 Brongzong and I am like...".WTF?!?!?! Should of lead with Typhlosion...."

Not much of a problem though. The only problem was Lance because of his level 72 Swords Dancing Salamence. I didn't see that coming. Thankfully my mother has been buying me Choice Specs and Focus Sashes so I can trade out filler Pokemon to have two turns to revive and hyper potion my lead attack for that battle.

I am still undefeated against the Elite Four. I was terrified that I was going to lose to Lance. I got Lucky that his Dragonite missed his Draco Meteor.

I said it before and I will say it again, Ice Punches and Ice Fangs are Godsends...

Also Amulet Coin + level increased Elite Four = 99 hyper potions and 99 revives.

I swept Lt. Surge with Steelix, he wasn't too hard. I was excited when I remembered the gym puzzle. I remember how difficult that used to be for me, now it's a cinch. (I used my old trick from Red, though -- find the first switch, save, look at a trash can next to it, if it's wrong, SR until you find the right one.)

Headed off to Saffron now.
