I'm not a PS3 owner but can somebody explain to me what PSN+ is? I've heard about it and always thought it was about access to better servers or better online overall but I've read that it lets you download free games and access to beta content?

Older console games sold on Psn are either cheaper or you can download free while non plus users have to pay.

We discovered that the intruders had planted a file on one of our Sony Online Entertainment servers named “Anonymous” with the words “We are Legion.”

Now, before all of you start bashing anonymous, remember anonymous is anyone and anyone can contribute. Yes, anonymous may have started a messy war, but I believe that majority of the people did agree on leaving the customers out of it which is why they backed off. But obviously, there will be those few who disagree and get carried away with their own plans and because they were a part of anonymous, they might as well use that name as their cover up or so people don't know who to point fingers at. Well, people will point fingers at anonymous as a whole now..

Someone could have easily planted that "anonymous" file to keep the blame away from the real hackers. With that being said, anonymous openly declaring war on Sony has brought it on themselves as well. If they track down some of the leaders of anonymous, they might be inclined to "work" with Sony to find the true hackers.

I got mines through Amazon. From what has been going on PSN should be back online on the 6th of May. I still have doubt but it never hurts to check. I wanted to play RE5 a tad more before I moved on and work on other games. I'm definitely looking foward to Portal 2.

A group of hackers says it is planning another wave of cyberattacks against Sony in retaliation for its handling of the PlayStation Network breach.

An observer of the Internet Relay Chat channel used by the hackers told CNET today that a third major attack is planned this weekend against Sony's Web site. The people involved plan to publicize all or some of the information they are able to copy from Sony's servers, which could include customer names, credit card numbers, and addresses, according to the source. The hackers claim they currently have access to some of Sony's servers.

Take this whole thing with a grain of salt (since they heard it from a guy on IRC...), if it's true, than PSN will be done for much, much longer.

Geez just as we all expect PSN to be back up soon something else turns up making things look even darker. Thanks for the link and new. I've been wondering how they've been managing as far as fixing this mess.

You know it's kind of funny how Anonymous is being compared to Al Qaeda in terms of both groups not exactly controlling every member they have. Any hacker can get up and join Anonymous, and then attack under their name. While the leaders of Anonymous can deny this and not promote this, they can still be held accountable for making their group so easy to join. I do hope these hackers get caught as they are clearly not representing us "video gamers" when they are attacking Sony. These guys deserve to be in jail just like any other criminal.

from all of the #sonyrecon and #opsony IRC logs that I read , I wouldn't understimate anything said on those IRC channel , these people are dangerous

I'm interested to know, are any of you PS3 owners thinking of switching? On all of the other boards I frequent, half the people are saying that they're going to trade in their PlayStation for an Xbox. While my confidence in Sony has declined somewhat, I'm going to support them.
