Seriously Sony? A multi-billion dollar corporation can't keep a few determined hackers from possibly stealing my credit card info?

Can't remember if I left my credit card info onto my account, but I'm not too worried! All of this can end up VERY bad for Sony or OK! If there is cash missing from peoples bank accounts then Sony is gonna have some major lawsuits up there @$$3$!

Yeah, lawsuits that will be very difficult to get past.

But I won't be sueing Sony, personally. If the identity of these ****ers who hacked the thing in the first thing are found, along with their sentences to prison, I'm going to take them for everything they have. Or at least, the penny's worth after everybody gets their shot at these guys.

I'm pretty damn pissed about this. And I use homebrew on my Wii for altering Brawl with soundtracks and textures. But even now I feel sick for doing even that. Something that doesn't harm anyone, and yet it's still a "hack" in a way. ****ing hell I can't believe these son of a *****es.

I have to agree with you here. Honestly, I just hope that nothing bad happens to me given that they're apparently stealing credit card numbers. I remember reading a while back that Anonymous was ready to mount an attack on Sony, I'm not sure if the hacking is them, though.

If it is, ****ing anarchists and their ****ing ******** ideology that falls to pieces the second that any logical and intelligent thought it applied to it. I heard that they attacked Sony and PSN to get back at them for getting certain hackers arrested. They crossed the line the second that they started ****ing with the accounts and personal information of PSN users.

Bringing down a network for petty revenge is one thing, stealing information is another.

EDIT: If any of that comes off as stupid and uninformed it's because I've done hardly any research on what's up with that and I'm just going off of what I've heard.

Well, the whole fight did start over the issue of whether or not Homebrew was allowed or not. Although the creator's intention was not to pirate games, people took advantage of that. With that came the heat from these "hackers" and we are here now.

Don't hope that nothing goes wrong. Request a new card immediately and change your passwords on anything that you've used on PSN. Taking a few simple steps ahead of time will save you the trouble of dealing with theft later.

It's actually Portal2's fault, just saying.

Someone[Valve] should've been a bit more cautious on streaming PS3/PC crap without a patch.

Imma just throw this out there, but the report that hackers had found a loophole to access credit cards was found over two months ago, Sony was aware that they had literally no protection of Credit Card, etc, but neglected to ever fix it, and then this happened.

While the hackers are indeed the main issue, Sony also has to be responsible for it's actions because they've had the last two months to patch up their security system after hackers figured out Credit Cards went in basically without protection.

Oh, I'm at school so I can't pull up the page right now, but hackers have also pulled out some other juicy info from the PS3.

Sony spies on USB drive data. They can see everything on your USB drive when you insert it into the PS3, and without it being listed in the terms of agreements, that means it's spying without you consent. Oh, did I mention? That's illegal.

Wow, that last part is not right at all. I wonder if Microsoft and Nintendo do the same.

I know there was a report recently on how Apple and Google phones send coordinates occasionally to let the company know where you are...or something along those lines.

PSN servers back again yet?

EDIT:

And man I have this one friend who's completely infuriating me on how badly he's making fun of PS3 users. I mean I've made fun of him and his Xbox but I was trolling and it was completely obvious how baseless my arguements were but him oh my God. It's so ****ing obvious how ignorant he's being about the situation. I tell him about the server downing of XBL back in 07 and he still neglects that because "It was in the past"

What happened to PSN can easily happen to XBL. Portal2 caused it or something. It's so stupid how people think.

Portal 2 and its Steam integration had absolutely nothing to do with the people who hacked the network and accessed the account servers.

Oh they did? What I read is outdated, getting ready for college and working 40 hours keeps you limited, you know? Also Mortal Kombat has had me so distracted from everything else. Challenge Tower<3.

I'll be honest with you, the people who bash PSN over this are really grinding my gears. This could happen to XBL or anything really.

I was never big on online gaming, and I guess it doesn't bother me much given my apartment internet is a piece of crap anyways...so playing on PSN would be pointless to begin with.

It is odd how I have stable connection with PS3 but for the Wii it's a piece of c---. Not sure if it is just WFC in general or lord only knows. The bright side of all this is I can actually get collect trophies on games I've been neglecting for months. I'm not all into the trophy system where I will go all out to get 100% of them. I just ignore the tedious ones and if I ever decide to get them I can play the game and try and get them. I could go without online gaming. The only con to it is I met great people online and many I can only stay in contact through PSN.

Why don't you JB your ps3 then? Just purchase games you think are worth purchasing. Unless you want those updates and DLCs and such.

Lol, my internet connection is weird. It's like a hybrid, I swear. When my friend brought his 360 a lot, he connection was amazing. He then brought the PS3, it ran just as well almost. Then the Wii.. it has amazing connection. (MH Tri I rarely lagged or d/ced). I can go down the road from my house and my ipod can STILL get 2 bars. xD

Even if I wanted too, it would be much risker compared to JB'in Nintendo given how up tight Sony is about that stuff. I don't want my PS3 getting bricked.

Let's assume that I'm a PS3 owner who is completely out of the loop (let's not assume any further, I am). I understand what happened, how my security may have been compromised, and I should be slightly worried, correct? I did once put credit card information on my account, but the above article states that this kind of information wasn't obtained by the illegal source.

Keep a close watch on your credit card activity and be ready to cancel your card and get a new one, just to be on the safe side.

Gee how do I explain this to my parents if their credit info got stolen :/

And did Sony honestly wait until now to post this stuff up? This is stuff that really could've gone up last week since we were already confirmed back then for identity theft right?

There have been rumours going around for about a week or so though.

To be on the safe side, you could always tell them, and they can get a new credit card. Better safe than sorry.

This is why i like 360 more... I think the only thing I am going to keep my PS3 hooked up for is some of the old school PSN Final fantasy games.
