Honestly, if you can, use wired connections for the faster speed, but thanks to my limited ports, I am very grateful at built-in wifi.

^^ Cool, I 've never played a GoW game, so it'll be nice to catch up on the series.
I just got my PS3 slim and love it, and am catching up on some older games like Uncharted and Soul Calibur.

Firmware 3.0 is out. I think it's a step in the right direction.

What do you guys think?

I have yet to connect to the internet, but what I've read sounded good. Also, this is the last update of the year.

If Mass Effect 2 and 3 would come out for the PS3, I'd get rid of this ****ty MS junk and hop in with Sony.

PS3 already gets Bioshock 2 and MW2 as well. GT5 vs Forza 3, I'd take either. ****it Bioware:(, you're holding me(And millions of others) back.

I just noticed today that when you start up a PS3 game the original Playstation 3 logo doesn't appear with the little chime anymore. I suppose Sony felt it wasn't necessary to remind you that you're playing a game on a PS3 anymore. That or they just wanted to completely get rid of the old logo.

They're trying to ditch the Spiderman font.

At any rate, this PS3 Slim makes my PS3 look like a beast. But whatever, my PS3 is still backwards compatible, and at the moment, that's all that matters.

I'm going to have to agree with you here. Looking at a few games on the PS3 got me interested and not being the rabid fanboy I was when I joined this site.

Its too bad I can't get a backwards compatible PS3, but if worst comes down, I can just buy a PS2/Slim from one of my friends.

You can always try Ebay, but you gotta make sure they send you the right model. I got one off Ebay and had to ship back 2 PS3's before they finally sent me the right model.

MAG beta came out today. In my opinion it failed to live up to the hype. Feels like a 60 dollar version of Warrock. Well, it does for Sabatoge. I'm close on unlocking the 256 player mode. Pretty much, there's litte difference between the 3 fractions, and honestly, I think the game would be better off with 2 fractions.

Also Killzone 2 is fun. Can't believe people still play it.

I only played a few minutes of the MAG beta. I didn't like it but it was mostly the frustration of the control scheme. Make it like MW and I'll be happy. :p I'm going to give it another go (and maybe this time I'll actually try the tutorial) because 256 players just sounds so epic.

I'm curious...

The PS3 doesn't play PS2 games, but on the PSN, there's a program for PS2 installation on it. You have to get the PS2 installation disc as well, but if I got that and then downloaded the PS2 installation off PSN, would that make my PS3 Slim backwards compatible? Or am I up ****creek without a paddle on this one?

If so, **** move, Sony. :| I still love my Slim though. XD

There aren't that many PS2 titles on PSN. They all use software emulation as opposed to hardware emulation which the discs would use. So, really, they have to update stuff on it to make games playable.

Contrary to popular belief, some models of the PS3 do play PS2 games. And the PS2 insallation thing is on all PS3s, reguardless of if they can play PS2 games or not. A friend of mine has a PS3 slim, but I don't know if it can play PS2 games. I should find that out soon....

First Gen PS3's can only play PS2 games, but at the cost of the heath of the game. Pretty much the laser blew it self out becuase the PS2 disc was going to fast. So Slim's can't play Ps2 Disc games.

Okay, thanks for the information.

So wait, the laser blows itself out because the PS2 disk spin to fast, right?

That would explain why my friend's PS2 was having a hard time running Okami, I guess it just couldn't handle that much win.

Sony releasing a 'slim' version of it's Playstation 3? Wow! I really have been gone for a long time, but not under a rock.

Sixaxis!? That's unreal.

Just played the Demo for Battlefield Bad Company. Judging from the Beta and better recieved reception, it's not extreme to say that the Ps3 is the superior console for Battlefield. But then P.C never counts as a gaming platform as we all know.

I'm basically done with PC gaming, to be honest. I stopped using Windows months ago, and Linux doesn't have any games that get me immersed anymore, so I stick primarily to PS3 for gaming.

On a side note:
On February 16th, 9PM - 1AM Eastern, there is a Home gathering for Borderlands.
On February 26th, 9PM - 1AM Eastern, same thing for LittleBigPlanet.

I'll definitely attend the Borderlands one, and probably the LBP one. I wish I had MAG and Bioshock 2 so I could do those, but no luck yet.

Well to be honest, MAG was underwhelming in my experience especially being spoiled with Killzone 2, and it pretty much boiled down to 256 players doing absolutly their own thing.

You know what's really, really funny? MAG is not having a packaged-with-headset option.

How silly.
Oh yes, that totally pissed me off to no end. It's like Zipper assumed that every one who's going to buy the game had Bluetooth headsets. But then again in this day of the Bluetooth law, I wouldn' be surprised if that was the case.
