Really? Oh well then, I'll mostly play PS3 games anyways, (MGS4, Blazblue, SCIV, etc), I'll try to get the Slim then.

The removal of Backwards compatability is a smart move on Sony's part. Anyone else expecting them to rerelease their PS2 games via Download?

More than likely the Best of/Classic titles will be rereleased, but the good ones like Fatal Frame, Silent Hill, etc. won't. That's why I'd get a PS2 if my PS3 went out and I got a Slim. Though I really don't play PS2 games to justify that.

Great news for Canadians considering to buy any PS3. Best Buy is having a back to school sale and they're taking a huge chunk out of PS3's. $100 to be exact. So now the PS3 Slim 120 GB is now at $299! Its pretty much close to the price of the Wii in Canada, so no excuse for buying it now.

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodd...id=0926INGFS10125867&CMP=ILC-BBY_hmpg3_slide5

also according to Best buy, its being released on the 26th.

That's the one.

Next project: adding Ubuntu Linux (Jaunty Jackalope). Will update.

For the hard drive, it took me about 2 hours and 5 minutes - 2 hours for Back-up and restore and 5 minutes to switch the hard drives. You just need to make sure the hard drive you buy to replace is 5400 RPMs (I have heard that 7200 works, but there can be issues) and make sure it is 2.5" (laptop/mobile). Other than that, you can get any size. They sell 500 GB for under $100. This is more space than you'll ever need.

I can't wait until I get around to buying one of these, I could use a Blu Ray player, and this is the best option imo.

Is there still the problem with the resolution resizing the PS3 lacked?

Essentially, thanks to the HANA (i think it was called...) chip in the 360, it could scale its resolution to best match what is needed. If you have an EDTV that's 480p standard but could run in 480i/480p/1080i (I used to own a TV like this, perfect for smash and still had an HD mode), the 360 would be able to run in 1080i, but the PS3 would not be able to and would be forced to run in 480p. The 1080i isn't the standard rez, and was a upscale of 480p, which the PS3 couldn't achieve and things like the 360 or cable boxes could do. So I doubt any new PS3s (havent read up on it in a while) or the new Slim can do this?

Either way, that EDTV broke :( and all I have is a SDTV atm. I really wanna get a slim ps3 for some games and blu ray, but i feel like its such a waste until I buy a new HDTV lol (or EDTV)

I don't know, I don't have a HDTV and I've never felt like it was a waste. I think I'd sooner buy a 360 than a HD TV. I want to get one eventually but it's not really a pressing matter.

There is a mode to set the resolution. I'll have to check for it exactly because I run in 1080p.

The PS3 can run in 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p as well as standard res.

I don't see why it wouldn't run 1080i, unless the PS3 just doesn't support EDTVs.

Get a new HDTV if you plan on getting a PS3. They're getting cheaper.

but u can get it now since it's already released
The Slim is hitting stores September 1 in North America and Europe.

I got my 42", 1080P TV about 4 months ago for $750 from Wal-Mart. If you are going to need a new TV, get 1080P. The quality is amazing.

I think I'll grab a PS3 in Christmas [or Black Friday], maybe in a bundle. The only problem for me might be the PSN marketplace, I have a friend that has a PS3 but had to create an American PSN account because this area isn't available. I don't think he has bought anything online but I'd hate to not be able to buy anything from the PSN store. I'd get a PS3 either way but the store is like icing on the cake.

Also, is that one of the girls from SNSD Variola?

Use the American store. Some people have an account for the American store, Japanese store, AND European store. There are tutorials online.

They see me trollin'...

...they hatin'!

In all seriousness, though, I'm getting a PS3 Slim, either on my birthday or at Christmas time. I've already got SoulCalibur IV, Street Fighter IV, BlazBlue, and Fat Princess in mind. Can't wait to play with you guys. :V

Any ways CK, how does MAG fare? Is it a system seller? I must know. The 3 way, large battles have me interested.

EDIT: From some vid's it looks like a WAY better version than Call of Duty. If any thing, the tracers and smoke trails have me wanting this game.

They did a hardware comparison and the PS3 is a hands-down better deal. For the same price, you get a Blu-Ray Player, built in wireless ($99 for 360), a charging wireless controller (I was a discussion about how having to buy batteries was ridiculous), and free online. So, TECHNICALLY, the PS3 is a better deal, but it really comes down to software.

I haven't had the chance to play in a few days, but every minute of MAG feels so massive, for lack of better words. For example, I did a mission where my team had to raid a base. I was on sniper taking out everyone I saw. I quickly racked up kills, while my team was dealing with another entrance. Another sniper came help, so the two of use were locking in one door, and forcing them to face the other 62 players on the team who were attacking with tanks.

In other words, there is so many people, but they all can change the face of the battle. I think, with polish, graphically, this will be THE PS3 game.

If that 360 rumor with the Pro becoming the Elite for $300 is false, soon as I get enough for one of the 2 systems its the PS3 I'm going to get.

Because, right now, PS3 is hands down the better deal. Now if only it did PS2 games, I never owned a PS2.

With the scale of the battles MAG will never look like Killzone. Not unless you want to put up with extreme lag.The fun factor should overcome any graphical limitations.I was reading the some guys impressions on PA and he said it's a amazing game, really fun, etc. The only reason he's not going to buy it when it releases is that it's supposed to come out around the same time as GOW and some other games.

Exodus, you don't really need a tutorial. I have a account for the Europeon store that I used to download the Killzone demo. All you have to do is make a new account and select which region you live in. Er, which region you want to pretend that you live in.

What I loved about Killzone 2 - atmosphere. The story was relatively generic, but the sheer feel of war was impressive. Every time I picked it up and played, I felt like I was in a real war.

There's also a 100 dollar price cut for the 360 Elite. Will it also warrant its own topic?
You just love to make things much harder for me to decide huh? Now I have to think what system to choose now.... again. )=

I'm quite happy with my 60 GB PS3. The only issue I have is not being able to play my imported PS2 games.
Oh well, can't have everything I guess.

There already is an XBox thread.

The Pro is being discontinued and at a reduced price of $250.

Viper: simple - do you want to pay for online gaming on non-dedicated servers? If so, go with 360. If not, go with PS3.

There is also the Blu-Ray for PS3, and the fact that if you do PC gaming, you can get all the 360 games that are worth getting on a better machine.

It really comes down to games, regardless of what you do. Which console has more games you want?
