Just throwing this out there that if you don't agree with a thread you don't have to post in it.
We're helping by warning people not to waste their time..... so they can spend it on better things. =D
Pretty much this.

It would be amazing if the Zelda community was competitive and were active tournament goers who really strive to improve the Zelda metagame. Except that's not the case, and it makes a PR somewhat useless.

Having a PR with less then 10 tournament goers is a big waste of time. (and even less tournament placings) Some of the other character boards have even more representation and better placings then Zelda, but they understand that a power ranking is useless. Exceptions would be boards like the Ganon boards, who only made a PR for the lulz.

Another Zelda main is lost.
He never said he stopped maining Zelda. He just said that he's stopped using her in singles. In all honestly, that's no different then more then half the members on these boards, since they don't even go to tournaments at all. (no offense to anyone, but it's true)

At least he still participates in doubles, which is still better then people who use Zelda but don't represent at all. (or are not in a position to do so)

well let people waste their time however they want
When we do that, we get into conversations about Zelda wearing high heels. It's not very productive either way.

Not using a character in singles means you don't main the character. Don't really know how to put it anymore blunt than that. Not ripping on the guy because I like greyfox and all that......he just doesn't main Zelda anymore.

Edit: By the way there was actually a good amount of Zelda tounry participation recently iirc, Scary, Riot, and a few others like kaylo and greyfox went to some tournies and I went to 3 tournies in December so.....

edit: oh and DM got 2nd at that one tourny.

Mars, don't get me wrong. I would like to use Zelda as much as possible. Trust me I really would. But constantly having to go against her bad MUs day in and day out is just mind ****. But I dunno if you were paying attention to my results, but my placings isn't that great. Hell I lost to a Pikachu that did Tjolt, Dsmash and Thunder. Either way I need to re-think about my whole approach for my style in how I play Zelda cause this last tourney was an embarrassment in its fullest. I'll be back to her again like I always do.

It's alright man lol I go through times like that with my Zelda too. What usually helps me is just a good player just sitting down with you and playing friendlies. Then I don't fell any pressure and i'm more focused on learning than performing if that makes any sense.

We're spending our time on better things simultaneously - look at the threads available. If a thread is missing to anyone's standards then go out there and be productive, make one :) Addressed more so at everyone really.

A bit of light, fun banter hurt no one - it could be similar to the sheik PR and other PRs around the character boards with less than 10 active tourney goers. On another note I think the sheik one looks really organised!

I like the games won approach, but I'm thinking of a little easier way to do this.

Win Percentage.

Everyone just report how you did W-L per games (not matches).

Say something like this (fake results):

Hackfest 11.0
Singles: 2-4
Doubles: 4-4

Then Mars takes the 6-8 record I accumulated and gets a win% (.429) and sees where I rank up. Then everyone would have a "career" win-loss record. If someone is a tournament goer once a month, then he can stack up to someone who goes once a week or once every two months. The playing field becomes even.

This way, we can forget about regions and just reward consistency. Also, if you went a different character during the match, you can just eliminate that match from your results.

Start it now with everyone at a clean slate.

Yes. I know all my match ups for Zelda. Actually the easier match up I go against is IC's. Hylian's IC's is hard to deal with, but I get him to his last stock about 1 every 4 match's.

Texas Smashers are no joke. I even played Silent Rain, FINALLY, and his calm Zelda beat my aggro Zelda.

I find it funny that you're telling someone from the NJ/NY area that Texas smashers are no joke.

I like that idea but there's a problem with your theory. Say a certain person goes to a tourny every week and beats joeschmoe a bunch of times while another player only happens to go to one but beats a bunch of big name players......see how that kinda wouldn't work??

I find it funny that you're telling someone from the NJ/NY area that Texas smashers are no joke.
Um because Texas isn't a joke?? They **** OoS.

dont you zeldas know that all you need is forward b?
RJ gtfo zelda boards son bwahahahaha

It's called looking at the tournament results. So because I don't go to tournaments the NJ/NY tourney scene is somehow worse than it was at the time I went to tournaments? I;m failing to follow your logic. But whatever come to Apex you'll learn.

Mars: I really can't see someone going to extremes to up their win% just to move up the rankings. But, you could put a minimum number of players at like 20 or something like that so 12 person or small tournaments that have no big namers don't count.

Any tournament with a decent turnout will have big name players show up to take the money.

I do realize people live in softer regions than others, but I only know of 3 Zeldas who are consistently placing in singles or doubles or low tiers and that's DM, Riot and Jujux. If there was a Zelda rich area where no big players played and scrubs run into fsmashes, I'm sure we'd of heard about it by now.

-----

Scary: I doubt you would need a pad to keep track of. Most people can remember how their tournament went, who they faced, and how they did for a little while. You could always text yourself if you have to though.

Well the rule would just be a blanket rule, so there isn't a situation like what Mars was talking about. Besides, I have no way of judging who's best players are best or how the talent level is here or there. Flat rules eliminate that kind of judging.

Well how bout dis how bout you go take a look at dojo and razer's tournament results k? Cuz everytime Dojo goes to a national he places top 5.

When you mean placing are you referring to placing in the top 8 to count towards Ankoku's results thread or placing as in just showing up? lol

the only good thing about zelda is that she has forward b and can change into sheik
I'd hate on Zelda also if I was a Kirby main.

@Mars Dojo and Razor are just two people if you even bother to know who some of the top players in the NY/NJ scene are I'd doubt you'd even be arguing with me. If you do know who they are then its just silly of you to argue with me.

Not once have I stated that Texas was the best. Nor did I say our players were better than everyone.

Just to be going off results, as you put it AL, there were only 2 players that beat Texas OoS so far in Texas. One is M2K and the other is ADHD. Nothing against anyone else's top players but from looking at the past HOBO's that Inui went to, and I state him only cause he came down about 3-4 times and I'm almost curtain that he is in the NY/NJ area, he never placed top 5 unless it was in doubles. Even then he didn't win them when I went to them.

The point is that Texas is not a state to joke around with. NY/NJ area maybe tied or better than Texas but we are still considered one of the top states in the nation when it comes to Brawl.

Take this as you will, AL. I care not for your responses after this post regarding this matter.

Texas is no joke. It's a serious region.
Not to be mean here but Hawaii knows first hand how good Texas is. I just wish I could go and play Hawaii players and lose to them. xD

When you come to Hawaii, Smash isn't the most important thing. We have nice beaches, good weather, and beautiful
